Dumb Records Record Player Raffle

recordraffle.jpg

It looks like Southtown record store Dumb Records is looking to give away a brand new record player (pictured above) for their two-year anniversary coming up later this month. How nice! The store will be holding a raffle for the player, and the winners will be drawn at the two-year anniversary show at Black Sheep on the 16th. Raffle tickets are only $2, which can be purchased inside of Dumb Records from now up until the time names are drawn before the last band at the show. In addition to the record player, there will also be a 2nd place prize of a $20 Dumb gift certificate, a 3rd place prize of a Dumb Records t-shirt, and a 4th place prize of a Dumb Records mug. You have to be present at the drawing in order to claim the prize if your number is drawn.

The Dumb Records tw0-year anniversary show is happening at Black Sheep a week from Saturday on January 16th. The store will also be having 15% off all items all day long for the day. More info on that can be found right here.

Dumb Records At White Oaks Mall This Friday

12356166_10205604761620712_480812645_o

As wacky as it sounds, this Friday at Springfield’s White Oaks Mall on the west end of town Dumb Records will be “taking over.” By taking over we mean that the record store will have a pop-up kiosk or booth set up on the lower level with a few crates full of records to sell. As far as we know this is on the lower level of the mall, next to the carousel and Santa Claus himself (pictured on the flier above).

Dumb Records will be set up at the mall all day Friday, from 9:00 am to 10:00 pm. The store will also remain open at our regular location here in Southtown from 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Also if you find us at the mall, use the secret code word “mynamekyle” and we will give you 10% off your purchase!

dumbrecordsblackfriday1

There sure is a lot going on in Southtown today. In fact, some of it has already begun! That’s right, today is Black Friday and the madness kicked off at Dumb Records (1107 South Grand East Ave.) earlier this morning at 8:00 am. Be sure to rush over to the store now if you are a record collector because the store has plenty of exclusive releases and sales going on right now until 9:00 pm tonight. Check out the full list of exclusive titles the store is carrying today here on the Black Friday facebook event. There is also 15% off of all non-RSD titles and other give-aways.

The show tonight at Black Sheep will start at 7:00 pm and admission is $5. For that show we have the local pop punk band Fill In The Blank. We also have The Incorporated, who last played at Black Sheep for the big Hobgob Halloween show. Up before them is Super Famicom, a touring solo act now based out of Bloomington, Indiana and originally from here in Central Illinois. Before that is a newer industrial solo project from here in town abvreviated A.S. You can find some of that streaming on the player below. Kicking things off is the noisey drone/ambient project of B.J. Pearce called “Pretend I’m Not There.”

Find a facebook event for all of this right here. Check out our shows page for a better look at even more shows and events coming up in Southtown.
