New Dumb Fest Music: Tenement, Nectar, Dowsing, Slugbugs

With summer tours approaching, more and more bands playing Dumb Fest 3-D are coming out with more new releases. Last week we highlighted new music from bands Run Forever, Bugg, and Benny The Jet Rodriguez. Tonight we have another round of bands playing Dumb Fest who have recently released new songs or albums. The first of those is Dowsing (pictured above) who have a new single “Blades, Blades, Blades, And Even More Blades” coming out on a four way split to be released on Count Your Lucky Stars Records. Dumb Fest 3-D day two band Tenement from Appleton Wisconsin recently just released a new double-LP called Predatory Headlights on Don Giovani Records. The album was completed over a course of three years and just released at the beginning of this month. Tenement will be touring the US and Canada with Big Zit directly after Dumb Fest. Champaign/Urbana-based day two dumb fest bands Nectar and Single Player will be releasing a split 7″ that will be available for the first time at Dumb Fest 3-D. The 7″s is being released through Rat King Records, and one of the songs from the Nectar side of the split can be found right here.

Columbus-based punk band Slugbugs who will be playing day 2 of Dumb Fest also put up a new cassette release online earlier this week. The cassette is called Electronic Backtalk and you can find that streaming below.

Dumb Fest 3-D One Week Away

14685449581_8baeca5b1e_kIt may be hard to believe it, but Dumb Fest 3-D is a mere week away from kicking off at Black Sheep. We just had a roundtable meeting earlier this week to gear up for the big festival and organize volunteers. Also earlier this week we posted the complete schedule and set times. You can still check that out right here.

Dumb Fest 3-D will be happening next weekend Friday and Saturday on June 12th and 13th. Admission is $10 for each day advance and $15 at the door. Tickets can be bought in advance at Dumb Records during store hours or online right here. Pre-orders can be bought until up to 8:00 pm on Thursday night! Dumb Fest 3-D Ten Days Away, Set Times Posted

dumbfest3dscheduleIt looks like we are merely ten days away from Dumb Fest 3-D – the biggest two day event of the year for us in Southtown. Thank you to all who came out to the Dumb Fest meeting last night! We were able to come up with some other good ideas for the festival and also map out volunteering a little better.

Now that we are ten days away from Dumb Fest 3-D, the set times and set locations have been posted. You can find that on the chart above. If you are playing in a band make sure to show up at least one hour before hand. We have a very tight schedule to stick to and can’t stray to far from it. Also for bands playing, this schedule hopefully helps us figure out gear sharing a little better. We have one set of drums and guitar/bass cabs available, but bands are encouraged to bring gear since we have one house set and two stages.

New Music From Dumb Fest Bands: Run Forever, Bugg, Benny The Jet Rodriguez

Dumb Fest 3-D is coming up quick (11 days away to be exact) and plenty of the bands playing Dumb Fest this year have new music being released this summer. Today we have a post to highlight some of those bands who have recently have had new music come out.

The first of those is Run Forever from Braddock, Pennsylvania. The band just released a single for a three-song 7″ called Big Vacation (pictured above) coming out on July 10th. You can head over to Brooklyn Vegan right here to stream that song and read more about Run Forever’s upcoming release. Run Forever will be playing day one of Dumb Fest 3-D.

Another Dumb Fest 3-D band, Bugg, from Bloomington Indiana have recently released a demo cassette and you can stream that on the youtube player embedded below. The band will have the cassettes available when they play day two of Dumb Fest 3-D

The third Dumb Fest 3-D band that recently put out some new tunes is Benny The Jet Rodriguez from Long Beach, California. They recently released a split 7″ with the English pop band Martha. You can stream a song from Benny The Jet Rodriguez’s side of the split below. They will be playing day two of Dumb Fest 3-D.

Dumb Fest 3-D Roundtable Meeting Tonight at Black Sheep

14430130461_0b8ef51e66_oIt’s June, so that means we only have a little amount of time left to prepare for Dumb Fest 3-D happening on June 12th and 13th this year. Tonight at 8:00 pm we will be having a Black Sheep Roundtable Meeting to discuss Dumb Fest related things, come up with ideas to make the festival the best it can be this year, and to also organize help. Everyone and anyone is welcome to join us, even if you feel that you don’t have much to contribute. We will also be talking about SOHO Festival happening downtown this upcoming weekend and also the ongoing Project Southtown Kickstarter Campaign.

Dumb Fest 3-D Planning Committee Meeting At Black Sheep Monday June 1st

Screen Shot 2015-05-27 at 8.26.22 PMIn just 15 days, Southtown will be hosting Dumb Fest 3D– the biggest festival of the year with 40 different bands from 10 different states performing in Black Sheep and Skank Skates. As we are gearing up for the biggest and best Dumb Fest yet, we are calling for all of the help that we can get! We are planning for a big all-around Dumb Fest meeting at Black Sheep this upcoming Monday at 8:00 pm. We could use all of the help that we can get for this one! If you have any itch to help out for Dumb Fest, come out to the meeting! At the meeting we will be discussing:

– Last minute Dumb Fest promotion
– SOHO Music Festival
– The Project Southtown Kickstarter
– Preparing food for Dumb Fest 3-D

We will also be brainstorming new ideas and ways to make sure that this is the best Dumb Fest yet! Don’t hesitate to come out and join in on the discussion!

Dumb Fest 3-D One Month Away

It may be hard to believe it, but Dumb Fest 3-D is exactly one month away! We have 31 days to get ready for the biggest two-day festival held all year in Southtown! Dumb Fest 3-D features 40 bands from a total of 10 different states on both Friday, June 12th and Saturday June 13th. Bands will be playing at Black Sheep and Skank Skates, and you can also expect activity at Dumb Records and South Town Studio that weekend. If you have not yet gotten tickets for Dumb Fest 3-D, now is the time to do so! Tickets this year are $10 in advance and $15 at the door per day (so $20 for a pass in advance and $30 at the door for the full weekend). LEECH (Oklahoma City) Added To Dumb Fest 3-D

It looks like we have one more Dumb Fest 3-D band addition that some of you may have caught when we released the official flier and tickets earlier this week. That addition is a band called LEECH from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. They will be playing day 2 of Dumb Fest 3-D. You can find some of LEECH’s music streaming below.

That brings us to a total of 40 bands officially on Dumb Fest 3-D! Dumb Fest 3-D will be taking place on June 12th and 13th at Black Sheep, Skank Skates, Dumb Records, and South Town Studio. You can pre-order tickets online right here or they can be bought at Dumb Records during store hours. Tickets this year are actually 3-D glasses and when wearing them the flier becomes 3-D! Dumb Fest 3-D is quickly approaching, and today we are coming at you in 3-D with the official festival poster and also tickets for you to snatch up! Check out the official Dumb Fest 3-D poster above! Looks cool, right? Well, there is a twist! The poster show above is 3-D!! You need 3-D glasses to see its magic. Luckily we have 300 3-D glasses at Black Sheep/Dumb Fest headquarters!

See those glasses pictured above? That is actually the official ticket to Dumb Fest 3-D! You can purchases 3-D glasses that act as tickets to day 1, day 2, or both days of Dumb Fest. If you buy the ticket, you can see the official poster in 3-D! How crazy!
