Here’s a show happening in town outside of Black Sheep in a little over a week that we feel needs mentioned on our site. It’s an all ages one too! On Friday, September 15th at The Barrel Head (1577 Wabash Ave) there is an all-local rock show happening which will unfortunately be the last performance by alternative rock band Stereo Static, who has been active playing shows at Black Sheep for the past few years. From the band’s facebook page:

We are saddened to announce that Stereo Static will be playing our last show September 15th at The Barrel Head. The members of the band simply wish to go in different musical directions from one another, and there are no hard feelings. We will be giving away our last EP at the show, which will be free as well. More details involving the show and our members’ future projects to come. Thanks for a great 2 years, everyone.

This show will have a great all-local line up also including the experimental instrumental jammy band Synzu, who ended up playing in the wee hours of Black Sheep Fest this past year. Also the far-out Blind Social and pop punk group Fill In The Blank will be performing.

Things start at The Barrel Head at 8:00 pm, and there is no cover (free admission). Find a facebook event right here. Also check out our Springfield shows page where we try to keep a list of shows happening outside of Black Sheep.

Another Message from Scott Blacula

598923_471503599584372_2116088754_nLast week we passed along a message sent to us from the Springfield metalcore wrestling band Scott Blacula. In that message, which you can see here, Scott Blacula expressed their disgust in Black Sheep as a venue among a few other things. They also talked about their show last Wednesday possibly being their last. Today we are bringing you an official statement not from The Pukester, but THE Mr. Scott Blacula himself.

My empire has gone through its share of ups and downs, but over the last year, an endeavor to spread my greatness across the universe has degenerated into crass insults and barbaric displays of rage and ignorance. When I brought the original four jobbers of the IGWF(Inter-Galactic Wrestling Federation) together to form Scott Blacula, I had nothing but the full intentions of this band to speak of my praises, and hopefully become something more substantial than they could have as professional wrestlers. Instead, they continued to dwell on their miserable failure of a past, speaking of nothing other than wrestling. In fact, not a single song written was about me. One song was even focused on someone who was obsessed with a TV Show in which MY GLORY-HOGGING COUNTERPART starred.

I let all of this slide until it became apparent that these fools only cared about their own goals, one of which being to slander my good name after everything I have given them. The Pukester may have taken it upon himself to disband the quartet, but nothing is official until I say so. Matters have gotten too far out of hand, and it is with great pleasure, and miniscule regret, that I hereby fold the band of Scott Blacula. The Pukester, The Undertoker, Jack Swaggerty, and CM Drunk, or Nick Foley, or…whatever the hell he calls himself these days will no longer work under my employ, as I have chosen to end this empire before these peons can do any more damage. The IGWF will be no more, and the members of Scott Blacula will be banished from the cosmos, forced to live menial, unrewarding lives on the stinking heap of trash that is Planet Earth.

Goodbye forever, people of this abhorrent planet. Never forget the majestic name of Scott Blacula, and all that I represented.

-Mr. Scott Blacula

We are not entirely sure how this works out, but we think that it is safe to say that the local metalcore band Scott Blacula is no more. Congratulations Springfield! We have defeated Scott Blacula once and for all!

Scott Blacula did have one more match scheduled before they were ultimately defeated. That was to be against Smoke Coke at The End Is Here Fest on November 9th. Does this mean Smoke Coke automatically wins the match, or will there be some other band to take Scott Blacula’s place to battle it out with them?

It looks like in a special message to us, Springfield metalcore band Scott Blacula has decided to declare war on The Black Sheep Cafe. In a message directed to The Black Sheep (below), Scott Blacula frontman The Pukester tells us that he is fed up with their placement on shows, as well as the band never getting paid a dime. He also says that Scott Blacula’s show on September 4th (Wednesday) will be their last. Check out the full video below:

There you have it, folks. Scott Blacula will be playing their last show as a band on Wednesday. The show starts at 7:00 pm and admission is $5. Also playing the show is Endeavour from Virginia, Hometown Heavyweights, Deviant, and Quincy Curran. You can find a facebook event for that show right here.

Scott Blacula, you will not be missed.

Pound For Pound Announce Last Show in November

558463_10151234457850318_1265685675_nLong running Springfield hardcore band Pound For Pound have decided to call it quits after being a band since 1999. From Pound For Pound’s facebook page:

After nearly 14 years, we have decided to start winding things down as a band. It’s been a long time coming. We’ve got families and other projects and free time is becoming harder to come by.

We’ll be playing 2 final shows. Our show on August 5th is going to be our second to last show. Our final show is in the works now. It is going to be Veterans Day weekend, November 9th at Black Sheep in Springfield. We’re looking for 8 more bands to get a mini heavy music fest together. If your band is interested, contact us here or at poundforpound217@gmail.com and we’ll try to get something worked out. We’d like to get a few locals and a few out of town bands.

Let’s make this a rad fest and show everyone that heavy music is still alive and well. If this goes well, we’ll set up another heavy music fest every year and who knows, we might even play the next one too.

More info will be posted about Pound For Pound’s last show on November 9th once more details are known.
