Black Sheep Fest 2014 T Shirt Contest

bxsshirt2014contest

Last year some of you might remember us having a T shirt designing contest for the Black Sheep Fest 2013 shirts. The contest ended up being a success, and resulted in two shirts being printed, which are both pictured above (left: Cody Jones, right: Benny Dewitt).

We want to try doing the T shirt designing contest again this year! This time there can only be one winner! The winning design will have shirts printed in time for Black Sheep Fest 2014, which is happening on Saturday, July 26th this year. Everyone is invited to participate on this one, and designs can be submitted to blacksheepspringfield@gmail.com. There are no limitations on types of designs or colors. The deadline for this contest is going to be 11:00 pm on Wednesday, July 16th (you have ten days! From there we will have contest voting on this site and we will determine one winner after two or three days of voting.

Black Sheep Fest 2014 is happening this year on Saturday, July 26th. There are 21 bands playing this all local to Springfield. You can check out the full lineup for Black Sheep Fest on our Black Sheep Fest page.

Black Sheep Fest 2014 on July 26th

Wow, look at that it’s already that time of year. The summer is pretty much here, Dumb Fest 2 is just one month away, and it’s time to talk about Black Sheep Fest 2014. Today we are announcing that Black Sheep Fest is happening on Saturday, July 26th this year. Now you can make sure you can schedule all of your family vacations and request off of work accordingly. This will be Black Sheep Fest number 6 for those of you keeping count. The first Black Sheep Fest was in 2008 and was three days long (it sounds like a big deal but it wasn’t that great). The lineup for this year’s Black Sheep Fest will be announced along with the official flier at Dumb Fest 2.

For some photos of last year’s Black Sheep Fest you can go right here to our Black Sheep Fest 2013 flickr group. If you can not wait for this summer fest to come any closer, that’s okay because Dumb Fest 2 is going to be just as fun and it is less than a month.

Photos: Black Sheep Fest 2010

In honor of us uncovering a batch of photos from the very first Black Sheep Fest in 2008 a couple of weeks ago, we have decided to bring another old batch of photos back to life. Today we are bringing you a few photos from Black Sheep Fest 2010, which was the third Black Sheep Fest and held on one day on Saturday, July 31st 2010. You can check out the flier and lineup for that fest below along with a few pictures. To see the full set, which includes mostly pictures of ska/punk band Obit Wan Kanblo-Mi go to our Black Sheep Fest 2010 flickr set (here). Black Sheep Fest 2013 Videos

Surprise! Today we are bringing you a couple of hidden gems that were recently uncovered from the aftermath of Black Sheep 2013 which happened last month. They are two short videos from the fest. The first is a short clip of Lovecow performing outside during part of their set earlier on in the day. Lovecow performed inside and then moved outside for the last two or three songs of their set. The second video is from the brutal battle set that happened between Scott Blacula and Emperor Norton. We are still not exactly sure who won the battle, but hopefully the video clears things up a little bit. Check out both videos below.

You can find our complete set of photos from Black Sheep Fest on our Black Sheep flickr set.

Photos: Black Sheep Fest 2013

This past weekend was a success on many levels for Black Sheep and Springfield music as a whole. Great times were had by all, and we saw many bands put on some fantastic sets. We saw lots of new faces, a few old ones, and there were also plenty of surprises. Here is what Black Sheep owner Kevin Bradford had to say:

The fest yesterday was great. Thank you to everyone involved. Truth be told I did not think Black Sheep would be here for 8 years, but I sincerely appreciate everyone who has supported it. As long as you got something good from us, it doesn’t matter if you’ve been around 8 minutes or eight years.

And now for the pictures! We have about one hundred pictures gathered from Black Sheep Fest, and they are still coming in! You can check out a few of those photos below, or head over to our Black Sheep Fest 2013 Flickr set.
