With the high number of Springfield bands who have all recently announced plans for recording, we thought we would sum up all of the bands who have told us they are hard at work in the studio all in one post.

One of the biggest bands that we are all excited about recording right now is Our Lady. The band posted this from their facebook page last night:

Tonight the final bit of recording will be finished, and then on to mastering!

One band that has recently announced plans to record is The Transatlantic. From their facebook page:

We hit the studio this coming weekend! Can’t wait to visit Bloomington, Indiana! So pumped to put some new material out! Maybe a new video in the works? Maybe some photoshoots? New merch designed by Benny D. Lots of cool things to come!

If you are a fan of ska punk, Obi-Wan Kanblo Mi has been talking about their plans for recording for a while now. From their facebook page:

Recording is brewing for later this month, we’ll most likely have a cd release show in March that you can certainly get a free copy at, and hopefully into for free also. With that said, we will also probably have NEW merch for sale also.

Another mysterious new Springfield punk band called Soap Scum will be on Black Sheep Radio today to talk about their new recordings and their show on Sunday. Recording master Brandon Carnes had this to say recently:

Did some tracking for a new Springfield band that’s hard as nails tonight.

Speaking of hard and heavy music from Springfield, Pound For Pound is also finishing up work in the studio and they hope to release new music soon.

We also talk to metal act Battalion on the radio today about their newly recorded material. Battalion have recently released a brand new CD entitled “Resilience.”

Speaking of metal, younger metal band from Mechanisburg Elyse have announced that they have finished recording. From their facebook page:

Our album is 100% done! Tracks will be uploaded shortly! One person who likes this status will get the FIRST copy printed, and signed by all of us, with Anthony’s nub traced on the back. HUGE thanks to our producer Pete Rock! Thank you for ALL the work on our album!

There are plenty of other bands who have recently recorded new material awaiting to be released including Nephrons, Caterpillar Club, and a ton more we are probably forgetting about. Lumpy & The Dumpers Added to 2/24 at Black Sheep

2-24FINALFINALWe have another surprise band that has been added to the show at Black Sheep on Sunday, February 24th! It is Lumpy & The Dumpers from St. Louis! Lumpy & The Dumpers will be making their triumphant return from playing in December at Black Sheep. That show along with a few others made the “top Springfield shows list of 2012.”

The show will start at 7:00 pm and is $5. Other bands playing include Trauma Harness, Say Something, Earth Witch, and Soap Scum. You can find a facebook event for the show right here. You can also check out what other Black Sheep shows are coming up over on our shows page.

Mildred Added to 2/9 Show at Black Sheep

8344102325_786a49f80b_bWe have mentioned that Mildred will be playing the show on Saturday that includes a battle set between Scott Blacula and Dino Bravo, but we think that it is important to mention that they are a new addition from the original show lineup. Be sure to come out and see their set. Also be on the lookout for plenty of surprises at the show! You can find both videos Scott Blacula and Dino Bravo made taunting each other here. Trauma Harness Added To 2/24 Show

Trauma Harness are a spooky post-punk band from Belleville, Illinois. They feature members of Egg Chef, Shaved Women, and Lumpy & The Dumpers.

New Band Pages: Austin & Austin, Worms

389584_567225436624254_1340126808_nHey everybody! It has been a while since we have added any band pages to our really long list of past and present Springfield bands. Today we are very excited to bring you TWO brand new band pages from two newer Springfield projects!

The first is Austin & Austin. The duo has been playing since the fall and they have a show coming up on February 2nd at The Radon Lounge. You can find their page right here. Then we have Worms! Worms have not yet played any shows (to our knowledge) but they have released a nice and sweet EP that you can stream on their page, right here.

Dog of Panic to release “Tip of the Tongue” at Catch 22 on February 9th

artworks-000034398136-erg4vn-originalLocal metal/rock act Dog of Panic have announced plans for a CD release show for their upcoming full length entitled Tip of the Tongue. The band launched a kickstarter champaign earlier this fall to help fund the production of the album and merchandise and reached their goal earlier this month.

The CD release show will be Saturday February 9th at Catch 22. Other bands playing include Runic and Hot Bag O’ Donuts. The show starts at 9:00 pm and is $5. This show is at a bar, so it is ages 21+. Mother Leopard Announce Return From Hiatus

Mother Leopard announced their hiatus earlier this fall after playing some shows in Springfield with a heavy and instrumental 3-piece line up. Now they are announcing they are back and are being joined by vocalist Kyle Rohweder formerly of Peoria harcore band Black Teeth. From the band’s facebook page:

We played an impromptu house show last week and had a ton of fun, so we decided to have a little more fun.

We are back to writing and Kyle Rohweder(ex Black Teeth/Street Cheetah) has returned. When Mother Leopard formed winter of 2010 the original contributing writers were myself, Kyle Rohweder and Brad Pigg. After becoming a barber and a father, Kyle is in a place where he wants to kick out the jams again. Brad now resides in Seattle so the new lineup is set. The Mother Leopard is now myself, Kristian Kyle Ratliff on the drums, Jordan Fein on the bass, and Kyle Rohweder as a contributing writer and frontman.

It feels good after a few months (years) off.

expect some new shit soon.

Well, I’ve been bitten by the music bug again recently and it looks like today will bring me a remedy. I’ll be Springfield bound in the next hour or so to jam with my old friend Benny DeWitt and company to see if we can finish what we started a couple of years ago. I can’t tell anyone what to expect, because we have no clue what this project will sound like, but I can assure all the punk rockers, rock ‘n rollers, indie nerds and hardcore kids that it will be entertaining and weird.

Mother Leopard will be playing the show on New Year’s Eve at the Harm House still as a three piece. Be on the look out for new Mother Leopard shows with Kyle as a vocalist.

Dog Of Panic: “Big Fat Hissy Fit”

Dog of Panic have released a new song off of an upcoming full-length album entitled “Tip Of The Tongue“. You can also check out the artwork for the new album above. You can find the song right here or on the band’s soundcloud. If you would like to see the band live, Dog of Panic will be playing the Brewhause on Sunday, December 30th.

In addition to the new song the band launched a new kickstarter campaign to help them release their new CD and some merch. You can find the kickstarter here.
