A great time was had by all at the Black Sheep Holiday show that happened last weekend. There were plenty of smiles, and we all cried to see Big Storm perform one final time on our stage. Bands that played included Wir Können, Coed Pageant, Lamp, and Big Storm. Thanks to AJWF Photography, we have some pretty good documentation of the night. You can check out a few photos of the show above and below, or also head over to this photo album on facebook for a few more. You can also stream a youtube video below, featuring at least one song from every band’s set as well as some banter in-between.

Next big Black Sheep show/event will be the Dumb Records One Year Anniversary show coming up on Saturday, January 10th.

Today we have special footage of Springfield pop punk band Hospital Job playing at The Fest in Gainesville, Florida earlier this fall. This is not a Springfield show video but since The Fest is a very big and notable punk festival we thought we would share the video with you. Check out the video below. The video is of the band playing the title track off of their new LP Believer. You can vote for Hospital Job’s album on our Best of Springfield 2014 poll along with a number of other Springfield releases right here.

It looks like we might be a little late on posting this new music video from acoustic artist Good Times for his new video for the song “Springfield,” which was released back in late August. You can find the video below. It looks like Good Times has also been adding more members to help out with the project- they recently posted a snippet of a new full-band single being recorded at South Town Studio to their facebook page. You can be on the lookout for some full band “Good Times & Company” songs in the very near future.

Right now Good Times and Company has a show lined up at The Tin Can Pub this Saturday (November 22nd) along with Solar Cadet.

Photos and Videos From Hobgob 2014 at Donnie’s Homespun

It looks like NIL8’s annual Hobgoblinspookadelic show this year was a total blast- it happened on Halloween night at Donnie’s Homespun in downtown Springfield. Black Sheep has hosted Hobgob a recent years in a row, but this year’s event at Donnie’s was a great way to mix things up and we’ve got the photos to prove it. Bands that played included King Worm, Bad Banshee, The Timmys, The Misfarts, and NIL8. There were also costume contests, stand up comedy, and all sorts of other crazy side-performances. Check out some of those photos above and below, or head to the AJWF Photography page on facebook, or our Springfield shows album on flickr. You can also catch a video of a (very disturbing) King Worm set from that night below. Check out another video of The Misfarts from that night right here.

Boss Tharrio Music Video: “More”

Screen Shot 2014-10-01 at 12.15.53 AM

Just recently Black Sheep and Dumb Records have been on a roll being featured in music videos being shot in Springfield. Yesterday we featured the video for Jay Willis’s song “Breathless” which was shot inside and outside of Black Sheep. We also recently stumbled across this video shot outside of Dumb Records of the hip hop artist Boss Tharrio. This is for Boss Tharrio’s song “More.” You can check out the video embedded below.

Important note: while we did think that this video was worth mentioning on this site, Dumb Records and The Black Sheep Cafe does not allow or encourage illegal activity or substances inside or around our buildings.

Boss Tharrio does not have any shows lined up at Black Sheep, but if you are interested in local hip hop, you can check out the show happening Friday night with Mikey Hash, MPress, OM33ZY, and Khunnit Music Group.

However, there have been more an more hip hop shows happening at Black Sheep recently and we feel that this new music video from Springfield’s own Jay Willis is worth mentioning. The video is for his song called “Breathless” which was shot inside Black Sheep this summer. You can check out that video below.

Jay Willis does not have anything lineup up at Black Sheep currently, but there is a hip hop show happening at Black Sheep on Friday featuring Mikey Hash, MPress, OM33ZY, and Khunnit Music Group.
