Park Plan “It Won’t Snow” Ten Year Anniversary Show

parkgrayTen years ago in 2003 Springfield indie/rock band Park released their album It Won’t Snow Where You’re Going. Now it’s 2013 and Park have announced that they have reunited as a band and are currently working on a brand new album. When Ladd Mitchell came on to Black Sheep Radio a couple of weeks ago he talked to us about Park’s reunion and told us that Park will be playing SOHO Music Festival downtown this year and also a show in St. Louis on August 17th.

The Park show at the Fubar in St. Louis on Saturday August 17th and it will be a ten year anniversary show for the album It Won’t Snow Where You’re Going. Park will be playing their 2003 album in it’s entirety for the show. Bands also playing include Blackwater 64, Big Storm, and Clockwork. A facebook event can be found here. Tonight at Black Sheep: John Davey, Picardy III, Big Storm, The Transatlantic

301596_10151554432145619_1226477509_nIt’s Wednesday night and there is still snow on the ground but we think it is a good night for a good old-fashioned rock show! Don’t you? At the show tonight you can check out some sweet acoustic touring bands and some local feel-good rock. We have John Davey from Indiana playing. Picardy III from Autstin, Texas will also be performing. The two are touring together as a part of their “Men, Waves, and Savior Tour.” Local support will be provided by rock n’ roll band Big Storm featuring Brandon Carnes of Black Sheep Radio fame. We also have The Transatlantic playing some more feel good rock n’ roll.

Commodity Reunion Show Happening April 6th at Skeletal Lightning Fest in Champaign

Commodity DiscogrophyThe old Champaign (Springfield-related at one point) hardcore band Commodity have announced that they will be playing one reunion show for Skeletal Lightning Fest in Champaign on April 6th. The band called it quits in 2010 and played their last show in Springfield at Black Sheep. You can see some videos from that show right here and here.

Skeletal Lightning Fest will be happening at The Red Herring Restaurant in Champaign on April 5th and 6th. The main day of the fest is Saturday, April 6th. Some bands playing that day include Our Lady, Into It. Over It., The Reptilian, Northless, and Dowsing. For a complete list of bands, you can check out the Skeletal Lightning Fest website right here. Black Sheep Radio Tomorrow: Anthony Bollero of Some Things Can’t Be Ignored

Blacksheep322There’s the Black Sheep Radio crew, working hard at doing what they do. Tomorrow is Friday, and that means it’s another episode of Black Sheep Radio! Tomorrow we will have Anthony Bollero of Springfield music blog Some Things Can’t Be Ignored coming in to talk about his blog and also play some tunes from some old Springfield releases he has featured on his blog. We also have Brian Galecki in to introduce some songs by some dumb bands that have been recently announced to be playing Dumb Fest on June 15th.

As always, the Black Sheep Radio show will be airing from 4:00 to 6:00 pm on WQNA 88.3 fm. You can listen on the radio or also online at wqna.org. If you head over to our radio page you can stream and download some old episodes that have aired in the past.

Okay, okay, it’s not a totaly new website but it who’s got money for that?? We added a new page under the “shows” tab (which you can find if you hover your mouse on where is says “shows”).

Obi-Wan Kanblo Mi Show moved/HARM HOUSE show tonight

UPDATE: The date for the Obi-Wan Kanblo Mi’s “Episode VI: Return of the Red Eyes” release show has been moved to April 19th. With this change comes a new, sweet line up! The line up is now Obi-Wan Kanblo Mi, Peoria’s Must Build Jacuzzi, 618 Punx Coward’s Way Out, Springfield owns Lovecow, and the new punkers RDNT. It’s time to get soft and acousticy! We have a great show coming up in April. Arizona’s Cottontail (ft. members of Ramshackle Glory) is finally bringing their brand of love punk back to Black Sheep, well…. one of thier members is. To get the party started we have the black metal-acoutic team Lovecow (whom recently release sneak peak tracks to their new album). To totally round out the bill we have the mysterious Montagh (formerly Austin & Austin). There may be some more bands announced later on, so stay posted.

Tonight at Black Sheep: The Convalescence, Kleos, Skywalker, Elyse, Scott Blacula

Tonight we are excited to say that there is one happening featuring some great local and non-local metal bands! The two bigger touring acts that are a part of the “For The Fans Tour” are The Convalescence, and Kleos. Those bands will be joined by local support from Skywalker, who have been working on new material recently. Another local band who will be playing is Scott Blacula. We do not think that there will be any battle sets between Scott Blacula and any other bands but you never know! Opening things up will be Elyse, who have recently released a ten song album.

3/27 at BXS: John Davey, Picardy III, Big Storm

jdp3It’s time to get acoustic-y and rock-y once again. Our long time pal John Davey is on tour with Austin, TX’s Picardy III. Each of this team put their unique spin on “music.” To round out Big Storm, will be playing “Break Out” for 30 minutes. This will be one not to miss.One more band is going to be added to this show, and will be announced accordingly.
