Tonight at Black Sheep: Punk Rock Cookout

punkrockcookoutput1It’s another show tonight at Black Sheep! Tonight we are doing something special… it’s a punk rock cookout! There is a show happening tonight with four great punk rock bands and if you come early at 6:00 pm we will have some great food for you to eat. This includes hotdogs and veggie dogs alike. Then the music starts at 7:00! What do we have on the menu for bands? Headlining the show is Springfield’s favorite punk rock band The Timmys! Then we have a couple of bands traveling from St. Louis to play here for the show! One is The Cuban Missiles! You can check out some of their music streaming below. The other St. Louis band is The Haddonfields. Opening things up we have Springfield’s newest and youngest punk band RDNT. All of this is sure to be a real treat.

Tonight at Black Sheep: Carielle, Ashland, Lovecow, Atlas At His Finest

Tonight we have the band Carielle from Grand Rapids Michigan. They play a type of folk/indie rock and you can check out one of their videos below. Then we have the pop-rock band Ashland who are from around Central Illinois. Then for Springfield bands we have Lovecow– the five-piece all acoustic folk-punk band. And opening things up we have a newer and younger Springfield band making their Black Sheep debut called Atlas At His Finest. All of that sounds like loads of fun, right?

Park Plan “It Won’t Snow” Ten Year Anniversary Show

parkgrayTen years ago in 2003 Springfield indie/rock band Park released their album It Won’t Snow Where You’re Going. Now it’s 2013 and Park have announced that they have reunited as a band and are currently working on a brand new album. When Ladd Mitchell came on to Black Sheep Radio a couple of weeks ago he talked to us about Park’s reunion and told us that Park will be playing SOHO Music Festival downtown this year and also a show in St. Louis on August 17th.

The Park show at the Fubar in St. Louis on Saturday August 17th and it will be a ten year anniversary show for the album It Won’t Snow Where You’re Going. Park will be playing their 2003 album in it’s entirety for the show. Bands also playing include Blackwater 64, Big Storm, and Clockwork. A facebook event can be found here. Tonight at Black Sheep: Big Storm, Idly, Yogi Beara

Tonight the show features Big Storm, the feel good rock n’ roll band local to Springfield. This show will also feature stringsy melodic folk rockers Idly from Austin, Texas. You can stream some of their music below. The show will also feature the heavy rock two-piece Yogi Beara (who have yet to set up their Black Sheep band page). And did we mention that Big Storm is playing?!

Who’s ready for a fun weekend of shows? There are plenty of shows going on in and around tonight and we have a show going on at Black Sheep too! For this one we have Springfield pop-punk band Kickstart! You can also catch Kickstart on the radio today from 4:00 to 6:00 pm on 88.3 WQNA FM! Next we have Unfortunate Woman which is a newer band on tour from Chicago. Also from Chicago and on tour is The Howl. They play rock n’ roll/punk rock and you can check out some of their music below. Opening things up we have the local two-piece Sammy & The Punk.

Tonight at Black Sheep: Our Lady, Tiger Tank, Gospel & The Wolf, Jessica Knight

There is a show happening at Black Sheep tonight! This may be our third Wednesday night with a show, so you all should have plenty of practice going to Wednesday shows. This one should be no problem! Tonight is a very special show because it is the first local show for touring emo/indie band Our Lady since January. They are back with a brand new lineup and a brand new sound. You can also find their brand new cassette, Dawning streaming below. Next on the lineup is Tiger Tank. Tiger Tank features Ladd Mitchell and Miles Parkhill of the indie rock band Park who just announced their reunion earlier last week. The touring act from Austin, Texas on this show is Gospel & The Wolf. Gospel & The Wolf is a solo acoustic act featuring an ex-member of the band Solace Before Sundown. Opening the show up will be Jessica Knight with some acoustic tunes for us all.

Tonight at Black Sheep: False Light, Emperor Norton, Kaworu, Bubblegum Octopus, Dusty Fingers, Aporia

65100_641327865894224_488981208_nThere is quite the show happening at Black Sheep tonight! There will be six bands playing for only five bucks. That is quite the deal. The first band we have to tell you about that will be playing tonight is False Light. They come from South Carolina and play fast and intense hardcore. Next up we have Emperor Norton, Springfield’s finest hardcore punk band. And coming from Peoria we have the new Kaworu. Kaworu play “blackened hardcore.” A newer addition to this show is Bubblegum Octopus from New Jersey. They play noisy electronic/dance-y music. Now moving on to the noise. This show will feature St. Louis noise project Dusty Fingers. Opening the whole thing up will be the first show of a brand new Springfield noise project called Aporia. Aporia features a member of the band And God Said Dance!.

Tonight at Black Sheep: Kirk Donely, Real Live Tigers, Dan Mariska, Tim Williams

Tonight we have Kirk Donely of The Transatlantic doing a solo acoustic set. We also have the country/folk act from Austin, Texas Real Live Tigers doing a combined set with another solo act Julie Byrne. That should be fun! Also on the show is Dan Mariska from Minneapolis! Last but not least Tim Williams of Our Lady will also be doing a solo acoustic set.

July 2nd at Black Sheep: Capsize, No Omega, Ghost Key, Brave|Heart, Scott Blacula

This show is on Tuesday, July 2nd and it is going to be great. We have California melodic-hardcore band Capsize playing. Then we have No Omega coming all the way from Stockholm, Sweden! That is a long way. Then on the show we have Ghost Key from the friendly city of Peoria, Illinois. This show marks their return to Black Sheep. Also returning to Black Sheep is Brave|Heart– the hardcore band from Bloomington, Illinois. Where are the local bands? Scott Blacula will be playing this show, battling out any band that dares to cross their paths.

Tonight at Black Sheep: Caterpillar Club, Shahman, Sundowning, Mildred, Joy Sores

5-15flierfinalTonight it’s another Wednesday night show! And it’s so hot outside that it’s practically summer! That means it’s a great night for a show. Tonight we have local shoegaze/sludge project Caterpillar Club featuring members of Soap Scum and Our Lady headlining the bill.  The show is pretty stacked with touring acts from all over the continent. We have a punk rock band from Ottowa, Canada called Shahman. The next touring band is from Kansas City, Missouri and they are called Sundowning. We have local slow-punk band Mildred to add to the whole mix. Wait! There’s one more! There is one last minute addition to the show and that is Joy Sores from Denton, Texas.
