Tonight at Black Sheep: Gnargoyle, Mystery Gift, Antithought, The Oswalds

oyTonight at Black Sheep there is a show, and it is a show that you all should go to! It might be cold outside, but the circle pits are sure to warm things up tonight. Tonight we have Gnargoyle, a new Champaign band featuring members of Dino Bravo, Wolf Luv, and all of those other bands. We also have Springfield’s own two-piece surprise band Mystery Gift. Before that we have the super punk band Antithought from St. Louis. You can check out some of their music on the player below. To top that all off we have a brand NEW band playing their very first show at Black Sheep called The Oswalds. Come out to the show early to hear what they are all about!

Tonight at Black Sheep: Big Storm, Brick Mower, Big waves of Pretty, Kevin Greenspon, War Magic

We’re having a really rad show tonight! Check it out, we’ve got the local power pop band Big Storm to give us a healthy dose of charisma and self confidence. They’re swell are sure to provide an enjoyable set as always. Brick Mower is a cool rock band with an indie streak coming all the way from New Jersey, so come out and listen to their honest tunes! Wisconsin based band Big Waves of Pretty is going to give us some water space tunes so that’ll definitely be cool to listen to as well. There’s also going to be a fine fellow coming all the way from California. His name is Kevin Greenspon and his set is going to be interesting because he uses the visual element of projection in his shows, so that combined with some ambient and droney punk influenced songs will be sweet. The last band on this set is War Magic! These local dudes have a rad dream folk shtick that’ll mellow you out and make you feel mysterious, so come out to this show and release a little stress by listening to some swell sets.

Welcome to the end of 2013, ladies and gentleman, theys and its!
Yes, this is it, the end of the world grows farther away with each passing day and 2014 is on its way. Since we’ve survived this long, we should definitely enjoy it. How? By coming to Black Sheep and listening to music.
Tonight, we’re featuring some raw acoustic tunes. Brandon Carnes is going to wig us all out with his beautifully blasphemous acoustic songs. They’ll knock you off your feet and on to the dark side, so check him out! Michael Tietjen is a fine fellow from the band Family Lumber that’s going to be travelling solo this cold winter. Show him some support and listen to the jams he’ll have for us this evening! They’re sure to be delightful. Jess Knight from Looming will be singing a sweet acoustic set as well, followed by Austin Connelly (of Wir Konnen and Montagh) performing some bad jokes and sad songs.

Tonight at Black Sheep: Captain Chaos, Kyle Hall, Looming, Lovecow

We have a great show to kick off December at Black Sheep tonight. It features Captain Chaos, which is the solo project of Chris Clavin of Plan-It-X-Records based out of Bloomington, Illinois. Chris is on tour with Kyle Hall from Chicago. You can check out some of Kyle Hall’s music below. As far as local band goes, we have the heavy-hitting and lovely Looming, this time in full-band form. We also have the acoustic folk-punk allstars, Lovecow.

Tonight at Black Sheep: Meredosia, Suns, Yogi Beara, Epsom

This show will feature the return of Meredosia, the local post-rock band that have not played a show at Black Sheep in a little bit. Also playing this show and on tour from Chicago is Suns. Suns are pictured above and you can check out some of their music on the player embedded below. They play some experimental indie rock. Also on this show is the jam-rockin’ two-piece band Yogi Beara. Opening things up we have the Black Sheep debut of the Springfield rock band Epsom. All of that should make for a really great lineup.

Tonight at Black Sheep: Kickstart, DJ SMPSN, RDNT, and Doggystylez (Karl Ladage Music)

Hey everyone, we have a pretty interesting show for you tonight. We’ll be listening to some  tasty guitar riffs and spooky punker tunes from the local goons in RDNT. Karl Ladage in Doggystylez will follow to change things up a bit by providing some hip hop jivvy jams. To keep the flow moving we’ll also have DJ SMPSN to show us what’s up. This rad show will end with the super energetic fellas in Kickstart to bring us all together and get the energy pumping. It’ll be swell so be sure to come out and see the good sets these guys have to offer!

Tonight At Black Sheep: Montagh/Unraveler Split Release Show with Montagh, Unraveler, Sam Rockwell Machete Champ, Naughtalus, and Mystery Gift!

Tonight’s the night, folks! The BRAND NEW Montagh and Unraveler Split EP is finally out and tonight is the night that you purchase one all for yourself!! We’re even having a show to celebrate it’s release!! Opening things up tonight, we have the new emo/grunge-y group Mystery Gift featuring members of Meredosia and Mildred. After them, we have Naughtalus, an experimentally-rockin’ good time! Then we have Sam Rockwell, Machete Champion, a folk-y solo act from Ohio. After that, we have Unraveler, who is a solo act from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania that is best described as emo folk. You can check out both acts down below! Then, closing things for the night, we have Montagh, the beloved Goth-Folk quartet.

This show costs 5 bucks and starts at 7pm! Definitely come an hour early if you want to get in on our Black Sheep Thanksgiving Feast. We have alot to be thankful for so why not celebrate it in one of the raddest places in town with super cool folks and great music? If you come, try and bring some food to share! If you don’t come you should still get to this show early cause you’re not going to want to miss a single second of it! Tonight at Black Sheep: The Timmys, The Haddonfields, Guy Morgan and the FT Crew, The Rackatees

We’re going to have a rad show tonight, check out who we’ve got playing! The Timmys will be giving us a good set as always, as they have been since the ’97, so come check them out! They’ll be playing with The Haddonfields from St. Louis, who will give us some upbeat punk tunes. Guy Morgan and the FT Crew have some rad feel-good punk to rile us up, and The Rackatees will echo that note by giving us an energetic punk-rock set. It’s sure to be enjoyable so come out to hear the good show.

Something else special is going on tonight because Skanks Skates turns 25 years old today! This place is so rad and has really played a big role in the skating and music community, so if you’re a skater come out to Skanks tonight and shred it up with BoofCity SkateZine because it’s sure to be quite an extravaganza.

Tonight at Black Sheep: Looming (Acoustic), Perfect People, Little Big Bangs, Who Needs You, Aporia

Tonight is also going to be a lot of fun! We have five bands playing for just $5! This show will feature an acoustic version of new Springfield pop/indie-rock band Looming. Come see what that is all about. Before that we get a taste of some hardcore punk from St. Louis with the band Perfect People. Also on this show is the band Who Needs You from Bloomington, Indiana. They play some fun pop-punk, and you can find some of their music on the player below. Then we have another St. Louis band playing! They are Little Big Bangs, bringing us some of the best garage/punk from the area. Opening things up is the Springfield finger-smashing harsh noise project Aporia. That just about covers every genre, right?

Today at Black Sheep: The End Is Here Fest/Pound for Pound’s Final Show

The End Is Here and the time for heavy death is now. Check out all these blackened metal and hardcore bands that are going to be playing in The End Is Here fest today! It’s going to be raw and heavy.

Pound For Pound is going to be playing their final show ever. Since 1999 these dudes have been bringing us some of the heaviest music around. Back in July it was announced that they had decided to wind things down after keeping things alive for so long. Today the day has finally come and the end for them is here, so come out to see their last show and listen to them live one last time.
Batallion is coming down from St. Louis to give us a brutal set. Come check them out and mosh till you drop.
Human Animal from Pennsylvania has some lake effect hardcore tunes. Get ready to get wild.
Smoke and Mirrors are coming from the exact same place as Human Animal and are sure to give us a rad set.
Dissention is coming from the hardcore scene in St. Louis. They’ve got a new line-up so come check it out!
Skywalker from central Illinois is going to give us some blast-beats and break downs so get pumped.
Meth Dealer from Decatur will be battling Table Drama (once known as Scott Blacula) to the death. This is Table Drama’s release show so come get their stuff and see who the final victor of this battle is.
No Regrets from Chicago will be playing positive-productive hardcore stuff so check them out.

This is at 3:30pm and the first band goes on at 4:00pm. It costs $6 and will definitely be worth your dough, especially since it’s Pound For Pound’s last show.
