Tonight at Black Sheep: Bad Catman, Meredosia, Bookmobile, The Flips, Looming

We have such a good show happening tonight! Checkit: local power-pop feelgood folks Looming will be playing and their set is sure to be energetic and enjoyable as always. Then we are featuring The Flips, which is a really heartfelt and well put together indie-rock band from Chicago. Their tunes are sure to make your heart swell so you definitely won’t be sorry for checking them out! The Champaign kids in Bookmobile will be coming to play for us tonight too, and their raw punky goon jams are going to make you smile for sure so be sure not to miss their set. Local band Meredosia will be providing some ethereal post-punk tunes and rumor has it that they have new material for us, so that will be exciting to check out too. Then another band from Champaign called Bad Catman is coming to play tonight since they’ve recently risen from the dead! Right on. Their fine, catchy jivvy jams are sure to please so come see these reborn and renewed folk punkers give life to yer dancing shoes!

2/3 at Black Sheep: Table Drama vs. Orator, Endeavor, Like…With Jetpacks, Servants

We’ve got some rad shows coming up in February- check it out! This show on the 3rd is going to be pretty epic and here’s why: Local wrestle-grind band Table Drama and Champaign based sludgy jammers Orator are having a face-off. Who will win? Come find out, listen to these crazy people and sludge around. Then Virginia based Endeavor will give us some slushy melodic hardcore to enjoy. They are no strangers to Springfield, they played at the Scott Blacula farewell show so come out and see them again! East Coast folks Servants will then give us some progressive jams to mosh to, and then our local video game mongers Like…With Jetpacks are gonna tickle our tech sides…with jetpacks!

Tonight at Black Sheep: Mobile Death Camp (ex-GWAR), Sunnyvale, Table Drama, RDNT, Say Something

We have Mobile Death Camp coming, which features an ex member of the legendary rock band GWAR! Check out one of their music videos embedded below, and come tonight ready to ROCK. We also have a good lineup of some great local bands tonight. We have the Black Sheep debut of Springfield rock band Sunnyvale! We also have the ultimate wrestling villains and heels Table Drama, who might be signing some contracts accepting a new vocalist tonight. Make sure you are there to find out what that is all about. This show will also feature young and rowdy Springfield punkers RDNT. To make this show complete, hectic ska-punk-hardcore band Say Something will be starting the night off with circle pits going at 60mph.

Tonight at Black Sheep: Tim Williams, The Gospel & The Wolf, With Teeth & Nails, Sami-Jo Wilsing, Statures, Rella

1472804_10202316535932058_204889591_nTonight is round three of our non-stop back to back to back shows before the Dumb Records grand opening, and the show tonight should be a good one. The show tonight will be mostly acoustic, so bundle up and come on out. This show features Tim Williams of Our Lady playing a solo acoustic set. We also have the return of Gospel & The Wolf, which is a touring solo musician from Austin, Texas who played at Black Sheep last year when it was warmer outside. You can check out some of his music below. Gospel & The Wolf is out on tour with Teeth & Nails, who will also be playing this show. We also have another set of travelers from Milwaukee, Wisconsin coming to perform for us. There is Statures, which features an ex-member of the Harm House New Year’s Eve house band Estates. He will be coming here with Sami-Jo Wilsing, also from Milwaukee. Opening things up we have a performance by a brand new Springfield solo act called Rella! Get there early to find out what that is all about!

Tonight at Black Sheep: Dan Mariska and the Boys Choir, See Through Dresses, Wir Konnen, Mario Cannamela

Tonight’s show is going to be heart-warming- we’re going to have a mix of local bands and Northern beauties. Dan Mariska and the Boys Choir is a band coming all the way from Minnesota and their wholesome chill-pop tunes are great. Coming from Omaha, Nebraska, See Through Dresses is going to bring around some flowing indie-rock feels, so check out these touring bands and show them some support! The acts on the local spectrum tonight are sure to please as well. Wir Konnen is playing their heartfelt alternative jams that’ll make you feel like an uplifted sad kid. Mario Cannamela of Soap Scum and Borealis will be playing us some things as well, so definitely check out all of the cool things we have in store tonight!

Tonight at Black Sheep: Wolf Luv, Back To Back, Remington, The Oswalds

Tonight is the night that all of the wolves and wolf men come out to dance. Tonight we have the mysterious wolf-fronted hardcore band Wolf Luv coming out of the glue tunnels and onto the big stage for a very rare performance. We also have touring band Back to Back coming from Houston, Texas. Check out some of their very punk tunes on the player embedded below. This show will also Remington from the Chicago areas. Remington will be replacing Need on the flier above, and they feature one member of Need so don’t worry about Need not being there! First but not least this show will feature new Springfield punk bands The Oswalds. Last show they played resulted in the one of the biggest snowball fights in Black Sheep history so be sure not to miss this!

45th Annual New Year’s Eve Extravaganza Tonight at Harm House

nyeshow3foulTonight is a very special night of nights, and that is because it is New Year’s Eve! There are probably multiple events happening around Springfield that would be great to go to, but we are here today to tell you about a certain house show at one of Wikipedia’s notable “punk houses”, The Harm House. The show tonight features local hardcore punkers from the 44th annual New Year’s Eve show, Soap Scum. Soap Scum will be returning from their short tour with Champaign/Urbana’s Kowabunga! Kid who play nice and fuzzy punk pop. Another band playing from last year’s New Year’s Eve show at The Harm House and coming all the way from Milwaukee, Wisconson is Estates. There will also be a performance from Toopin– a band featuring Kyle Hall who played at Black Sheep on December 1st, and also Mitch Baker of Looming, Wir Können, and Lovecow. There also might be a surprise set from the mysterious Mother Leopard. (Sorry for ruining the surprise).

February 22nd at Poon Lagoon: Be My Doppleganger, Horrible Things, Hospital Job, Nephrons

This show at Poon Lagoon is gonna be ballin! All the way from way out of town, Be My Doppleganger is gonna be rockin out with some alternative punk jivvy jams. The rad folks from Champaign based Horrible Things will be indulging our breakfast punk cravings. Hospital Job will be playing as well and they’re sure to give a heart-warming, musically nourishing pop-punk set. Then to finish off the evening in a grand way, Nephrons will play some retirement home pop-punk, the kind that will make us feel delirious and wobbly in the best way possible.

This show is gonna be yet another classic in Poon Lagoon world, so come to this show on Saturday February 22nd and get your “swag and stab on”! Tonight will be the big GRAND FINALE of those shows and this is also our last show of the year at Black Sheep so let’s make it a good one and come out! Tonight we have the pop-punk all star band Hospital Job playing all of their old hits and probably a few new ones. We also have folk punk sweethearts Lovecow starting up the circle pits and all of the sing-a-longs. This show also features one gem of a touring band called Ravenhill from Southern Illinois. Don’t forget to come early to catch the crown jewel band Looming, who will be playing first before they head out to the bars of Springfield to play with the reunited Park.

Tonight at Black Sheep: Caterpillar Club, Cinema Verite, Meredosia, and The Science Of

Kicking off the Winter Party Weekend tonight we have the Belleville dream pop punkers coming through, the Cinema Verite, as well as locals Caterpillar ClubMeredosia, and The Science Of making their first Black sheep appearance.

The show starts at 7 p.m. and will be five bucks. The event page can be found here. Come out and have a good time bearing down for the ensuing permafrost of winter.
