Today is a Thursday and we are going to have some fun tonight at Black Sheep for a rare Thursday night show. We have the indie punk band In Exile coming from Chicago. The last time they played at Black Sheep was almost exactly one year ago. You can stream their new EP that was just recently released below. This show also has another touring act, and that is Hideaway from Southern California. We are excited to have both bands play in Springfield tonight. The show also has three local acts. Those include Mystery Gift the jangle-y rock band that we have not seen in a minute. We also have Central Illinois melodic hardcore act Loses The Mighty. Opening things up will be the young rockers in Panzys.

Tonight, happening inside South Town record store Dumb Records will be special show #3 of the Dumb Records October concert series. For this show we are happy to welcome Springfield music legend Tom Irwin to our record store, where he will perform a set of acoustic folk songs. Tom has been involved with Springfield music for many years now and currently writes for weekly publication The Illinois Times. We also have a couple of touring acts on the show. We welcome Tragwag from New York (which we have been told stands for That Really Awesome Guy With A Guitar). Check out some of that really awesome guy’s music on the player below. Tragwag will be on tour with another act called Jacket Thor from Connecticut. Opening up we have an acoustic set by Kyle Gietl of the rock group Panzys.

The show tonight kicks off at 7:00 pm (Dumb Records will open up at 3:00 pm). We will be taking donations for the touring acts (suggestion of $3-5). Today is Sunday, and show number 2 of our Dumb Records show series is happening today at 3:00 pm! Dumb Records will be open from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm today, and the show will be happening at 3:00. We have a variety of acoustic acts, including John Davey from Lafayette, Indiana. John Davey has been to Black Sheep a number of times before. This time he will be on tour with an act called Moor Hood. Come to the show to find out what that’s all about. Opening things up we have an acoustic version of the Springfield indie-dream folk band War Magic. Don’t forget that everything inside Dumb Records will be 15% off during this show since it is a part of the show series!

Tonight we have a solid five-band show coming at you happening at Springfield’s all ages music venue, The Black Sheep Cafe. The show tonight features Springfield power indie pop band Looming, who we have not seen at Black Sheep in a minute. The band seems to be currently working on new material at South Town Studio. We also have the band Sybassion coming from Kansas City, Missouri for the show tonight. You can stream some of their music below. Next up is Springfield hectic screamo project, I’m Dead Inside. Then we have the other Our Lady-related screamo project, Knives. Last but not least is the Springfield three-piece new and improved emo band, Wir Können, who will be releasing their cassette God It’s Getting Bad at the show tonight.

It’s the weekend, so that means we are going to kick it into high gear over here at Black Sheep and Dumb Records headquarters. There is a show happening tonight at Black Sheep especially for fans of the post-rocks, and stoner-rocks. We have the band Lost Spirit coming on tour from Milwaukee. No, you do not want to miss this band. Their music is streaming below. Also on this show is the one-man power post rock project known as (Truck)///\\\\Mountain. Stick around for that if you can handle it. Also on this show is another out of town act, Resinater from Champaign. The night will kick off with another Springfield post-rock band, Meredosia.

Hip hop has been making more of an appearance recently at Black Sheep and Dumb Records, and tonight we have a great hip hop show for all ages and all fans of music to come out to. For this show we have another performance by Mikey Hash, who also played at Black Sheep last weekend. Next up from Southeast High School is a group going by the name “MPress.” There is also one change in the lineup since the show was announced. Now playing this show is local rap group “ExSxB.” To top that off we have Khunnit Music Group coming from Lanphier High School.

It’s a Thursday night at Black Sheep and we do not have any shows this upcoming weekend so let’s make this one extra special. For this show we have the “three-piece trick-or-treat indie” band JAG. Also all the way from Pittsburg, Pennsylvania we have a band called Secret Tombs (featuring members of Blood Red and Pissed Jeans). You can stream some of their music below. Also on this show is one-man shock rock fiesta project going by the name of F///\\\M. Last but not least this is the cassette release show for one of Springfield’s newest punk bands, Teen Freak. Teen Freak magically formed at the Black Sheep Band Lotto Show last month and they are here to stay.

Tonight is a night of celebration around South Town, and we are celebrating Black Sheep being nine years old as an all ages venue in Springfield (starting in 2005). We have a great lineup of local bands tonight and that includes Caterpillar Club featuring Black Sheep owner Kevin Bradford. We also have a big reunion show for old powerviolence project HK47. Check out an old video of them playing in a carpeted Black Sheep below. Also on this show is Central Illinois melodic hardcore band Loses The Mighty. Opening things up is hardcore punk band Asthma.

Food, food, and more food. That’s what’s going on tonight at Black Sheep for our second annual punk rock cookout, and this time we are having all of you eat all of that food. We have told that there will be hotdogs and veggie-dogs for everyone, greens, maybe even some pasta? Black Sheep is cleaned up and ready to go with a new piano and all for this great event happening tonight. Bands playing the cookout include The Timmys, who recently released a brand new EP which you can stream on the player below. We also have the band Minor Decline coming from Galesburg, IL. Then we have Springfield ska-favorites, Bad Banshee. Also don’t miss Say Something– a great punk rock band for a great punk rock cookout.

The cookout tonight starts at 6:00 pm outside of Black Sheep and bands will begin at 7:00 pm. Admission is just $5 for a bunch of bands and a bunch of food (to eat).
