Tonight at Black Sheep: G.L.O.S.S., Asthma, Garter, GUSH

It’s Labor Day today, which means a lot of you don’t have school or work! That means you only have one thing to do today, and that is to go to the show happening tonight at Black Sheep! Tonight is going to be a great one, because we have the band G.L.O.S.S. coming all the way from Olympia, Washington. If you don’t know what G.L.O.S.S. is all about, you can stream their music on the player below. We also have a great group of local bands playing tonight, including the hardcore band Asthma who looks like are playing their last show for a while. We also have Garter, who just released their five-song demo online earlier this week and this will be the tape release show for that. We also have GUSH, who also will be releasing a demo cassette at this show.

Tonight at Black Sheep: “The Very Very Very Coo Show”

Tonight at Black Sheep we have our only show happening of the weekend, and it will feature some local hip hop, and a mix of some other genres. This show is being called “The Very Very Very Coo Show” and is being put on by Cooshit. For this show we have a local electronic project called KaBASS. You can check out some of KaBASS’s music streaming below. We also have everyone’s favorite guitar riffin’ downtown street performer, Nighthawk. Then before that is the local hip hop artist Jar’mar Virider. Other performers for tonight include TJ Bird, The Co-Pilots, Lo-Fi MonstaMartian, and
Dooblavey.

Today in Southtown: 5th Annual Southtown Jubilee

Today we have a something little different going on that Black Sheep is a part of this year, and that is the Southtown Jubilee! The Southtown Jubilee is put on every year by our friends at Bourbon Street across the street from us. This year Bourbon Street is moving the festival to our side of the street to a new recently acquired open lot right next to Black Sheep on 11th and Brown Streets. The Black Sheep will be hosting some bands at the festival today from 2:00 to 4:00 pm. Let’s take a look at who is lined up!

Tonight at Black Sheep: King Worm, Earth Witch, Jeremiah Fisher, WARRS, Borealis, Emasculate Regression

Some exciting stuff is happening at Black Sheep tonight! We have a stacked six-act show featuring some of the best noise and punk around. This is also our only show at Black Sheep this weekend, other than the Southtown Jubilee happening outside tomorrow afternoon. The show tonight will feature big time heavy hitting hardcore punk slammers King Worm. We also have Earth Witch from Champaign/Urbana, playing at Black Sheep for the first time since Dumb Fest 1 in 2013. Check out some of Earth Witch’s music streaming below. For the noise, we have out of town act Jeremiah Fisher, who’s last Springfield show was also a Dumb Fest. Up before that is the hardcore/screamo project WARRS, and we also have another local ambient/noise project called Borealis. To top it all off we have a newer noise project from the area called Emasculate Regression.

Shows Tonight + Tomorrow Night at Black Sheep Cancelled

Unfortunately while it looked like we had a full weekend of three shows lined up here at Black Sheep, two shows- the ones that had been scheduled for tonight and tomorrow night have been cancelled.

The next show happening at Black Sheep will now be on Friday, August 28th with Earth Witch, King Worm, WARRS, Jeremiah Fisher, Borealis, and Emasculate Regression. Dumb Records will also remain open this weekend for its usual hours of 12:00 to 8:00 pm.

Tonight at Black Sheep: Mr. Clit & The Pink Cigarettes, SAP, Cadenaxo, Boon

Tonight we have a show at Black Sheep, and it looks like our other two shows (Saturday + Sunday) have recently been cancelled, so this is our only show of the weekend! Let’s make it a good one. For this show we have Mr. Clit & The Pink Cigarettes coming from Indiana. They have played Springfield a number of times before but this is their first time playing at Black Sheep. Check out some of Mr. Clit’s music streaming on the player below. We also have the three-piece “swamp rock” band SAP playing this show. Then also on this show is a band coming all the way from Mexico called Cadenaxo. Be sure not to miss them! Opening things up is a performance by the experimental local rock band boon.

Tonight at Black Sheep: Looming (Album Release), Park, Choir Vandals, Hidden Hospitals

11696524_10155820061580512_1793873541487494219_oTonight is a big night for Springfield local music as Looming are playing the release show for their new album Nailbiter, and Springfield emo band Park is playing another rare local show since announcing their reunion two years ago. Looming’s new album Nailbiter is being released on No Sleep Records and will be available tonight on CD and LP. You can find the album streaming online right here. Nailbiter will also be available on CD and vinyl at Dumb Records starting tomorrow. Looming will be playing Black Sheep tonight to celebrate and also to kick off their album release tour. Park will also be performing, and you can tune in tour our radio show today on 88.3 WQNA FM to hear us talk to Miles Parkhill of the band. Also on the show is St. Louis emo band Choir Vandals and Chicago-based indie rock group Hidden Hospitals.

Today at Black Sheep we have a special 2:00 pm matinee show taking place! Matinee shows during the summer are always fun, and for this one we will also be hosting a Southtown barbecue! For this show we have the instrumental rock group Fel Fae, who is also playing the show tonight. We also have a band called “Tare” on tour from New Orleans. This band features members of the band All People, who played at Black Sheep this past April. Also on this show we have a newer local project called Weeping Iniquity, which will be playing their first Black Sheep show. Check out a new track from Weeping Iniquity streaming on the player below. Opening things up we no longer have Bo Mellado, but instead Jessica Knight of Looming will be performing some acoustic songs.

Again, this show starts at 2:00 pm on Saturday and admission is $5. This will get over early so you can go check out some of the bands playing Downhome Music Festival downtown! Tonight at Black Sheep: Fill In The Blank, Abyss, The Locals, Sammy & The Punk, Terribly Happy

Check out this show happening tonight at Black Sheep! We have five bands lined up for you all tonight and this show will be the CD release show for local band Fill In The Blank, and they will be dropping their first hit album – Slacker. We also have Abyss, who was the winner for the crowd voting portion of this year’s Battle of the Bands, and also played Black Sheep Fest as a result. Before them is the hit Springfield High School three-piece pop project, The Locals. Then before that we have the guitar/drums duo – Sammy & The Punk. Opening things up we have a Peoria pop punk band called Terribly Happy. You can stream some of their music on the player below.

Tonight at Black Sheep: King Worm, Dark Thoughts, Kowabunga! Kid, Sneaky Creeps

Tonight we have a real fun show happening at Black Sheep for all fans of punk, pop punk, and any type of jumping around or dancing. Tonight we have a performance by Springfield’s own King Worm featuring their real vocalists Mike Tirehaus in the flesh real life. And on tour from Philadelphia and playing this show is Dark Thoughts, featuring members of The Holidays and Bad Side who have played at Black Sheep in the past. Stream some new Dark Thoughts songs on the player below. Before them we have everyone’s favorite Champaign/Urbana punk band, Kowabunga! Kid. And opening things up tonight we have a last minute addition to the show and that is Sneaky Creeps from Kansas City, Missouri.
