There’s a show happening tonight at Black Sheep! This is going to be a three-band punk show that is going to get over real quick so you will have plenty of time to get back home and get that homework done or play a game of Monopoly with your family. For the show tonight we have the band Mysterious Skin coming all the way from Seattle. You can stream their new demo below. This show also features a band new Springfield band called “Starlorde.” We don’t know a whole lot about this band other than it features members of GUSH, Panzys, and The Locals. Opening things up tonight is Garter, who have not played a set at Black Sheep since November!

Get ready for our third show of the weekend and an exciting night! Tonight is going to be a wild one- we have Springfield’s original band lotto superstar band #1 “Teen Freak” taking the Black Sheep stage for the first time in about a year and a half. They will surely rock the house hard. You can stream Teen Freak’s demo on the player below. This show also has a  couple of touring acts. We have Doby Watson performing as a full band, who is no stranger to The Black Sheep. This time around Doby will be coming with another band called Atom Lax from Dover, Ohio. Pretty neat. Up before that we have a newer Champaign/Urbana hardcore band called La Louve which features members of Kowabunga! Kid. Then some very exciting news is that we have the first ever show for a brand new Springfield band called “Shark Week” which features members of SAP, GUSH, and Moondead.

We have a pretty big show at Black Sheep happening tonight! There are a few twists too- well, actually just one twist. Unfortunately Our Lady had to drop the show tonight. In their place we are getting a rare performance by Springfield’s own Looming who have not played on the Black Sheep stage since September. Wowee. This show is also the EP release show for central-Illinois shoegaze band Lavender. You can stream their new EP on the player below, and then purchase it at the show tonight. Also on the bill is post hardcore band LifeWithout from Alton, Illinois. Then we have Champaign friends and emo band Krelboyne, who have played here many times. Opening things up is the solo project of BJ Pearce called “Pretend I’m Not There”.

It’s Friday and there is a show happening at Black Sheep tonight! Tonight We have the local band Set Piece playing this show, who describe themselves as “heavy indie rock.” You might be able to stream some of their music on the player below. There has also been a slight change to the lineup since we first announced the show. The show will still be just three bands, but instead of Governor Street as previously announced, we now have the Springfield sludge band Green Messiah on the bill. Then the third band on the bill Black Ops Agency, which is a long running rock band featuring members of TANG.

We have a show happening at Black Sheep on Friday, March 4th that it is time to officially announce! This one is going to be a rocker. We have long time running Springfield hard rock band Dead Zebbra (possibly their first time playing Black Sheep?) on the bill. Also is Nethersphere– the Jacksonville based stoner death metal project. The touring act on this show is “Strangefellas” (pictured above). Strangefellas comes from the other Springfield in Missiouri. You can stream some of their music on the player below. Opening things up for this one we have the Springfield doomy sludge band Green Messiah.

As we all know, today is Valentine’s Day! And it’s going to be a very special night tonight because we are hosting the big Valentine’s Day Dance at Black Sheep! Dress up and bring a date if you want! Playing tonight we have the art funk punk rock band Epsom! You can stream some of their music on the player below. They will have us all dancin’ for sure. We also have the brand new Springfield mustache hardcore band called “Livin’ Thing” bringing the nastiest dance moves on the dance floor. Up before that is the feel good jammy rock band The Good Companions who will be taking the Black Sheep stage for the first time. Kicking things off we have the surfing wizards in The Suction Cups!

You know what, there’s a show happening tonight at Black Sheep! That’s pretty neat. For this show we have the band The Minotaurs coming from Wisconsin. They play a garage-y type of rock. The weekend fun just don’t stop, tonight we will be hosting a big 7-band “Winter Wreck” at Black Sheep! What is this about? It’s pretty much just a bigger show with a few more bands than normal being put together by Grow The Scene– a booking company based out of Chicago. This show will feature seven whole bands, all from the area. These include:

It’s Friday night and tonight is going to be a little bit different from a regular show here at Black Sheep! We will be hosting a presentation/performance by Stephen Houldsworth- St. Louis based photographer, and activist as well as many other things. You may recognize Stephen as one of the photographers taking photos at Dumb Fest 3-D this past summer. Here is a quick description of what will be happening, taken from a similar event held earlier this month in St. Louis:

Love him or hate him, you have to admit Stephen Houldsworth has opinions and is not afraid to share them. In this one-man show, “Protest & Punk shows, while making other plans,” Houldsworth will share stories and spoken-word pieces, as well as answer audience questions, about his life as an activist, music fan, artist, academic, and cultural critic. Whether in the streets of Ferguson. the DIY basements of South city, or the boardrooms of the regions most venerable institutions, Houldsworth brings his unique perspective to all his experiences – and, for one night only, you can take a journey inside his thoughts and feelings.

We encourage anyone and everyone to come out to this! Doors for this will open at 7:00 pm and the presentation will kick off at 7:30 pm. There will also be two bands playing later on in the night at 9:00 pm- one being Sunwyrm from St. Louis, the other being a surprise Springfield band. Lookout, we have a show happening at Black Sheep tonight! This show will feature the long awaited return of Diaper Rash, who we haven’t seen at Black Sheep in a minute. Maybe this time Big Baby will return with a new look and a new attitude? This show will feature the touring punk band Bad Taste from Carbondale, Illinois. We also have a band from St. Louis lined up, and that is the rock n’ roll act “Heel Turn.” Starting things up we have the Springfield-based hectic circle-pit-powered punk band Say Something.
