What’s this! We are having an acoustic/folk punk type show at Black Sheep. It’s been a minute since we’ve seen one of those! For this show we have the touring act Ankle Grease stopping by and performing for us all. The whole city is invited! Ankle Grease is from New York and you can stream some of their songs on the player below. Very cool. Also folk punk and on this show is C Is For Cadaver who is from the area. Then possibly before then we do have a very rare acoustic performance happening from Jeff Williams of the mighty, and the legendary punk band NIL8 that you all know and love. Make sure to catch that. Opening up the show looks like we have another very rare performance by the spoken word/musical project Honey//Suck.

It’s the weekend! Yes, of course we have a show going on at Black Sheep tonight and it’s a good one. You just can’t go wrong with this one, because local emotional hardcore band Our Lady is on the bill. Come see them, we hear they are also playing Black Sheep Fest and putting out a new record later this summer. We also have the emo/rock band Cellars coming from Nashville, Tennessee. It’s a Monday night and there is a show happening tonight at Black Sheep! Tonight we have the return of Secret Stuff from Nashville, Tennessee. They last played here in January with Run Forever and Our Lady. Check out some of Secret Stuff’s music streaming on the player below. Looks like the other touring band that was on the bill tonight (Pictures of Verrnon) sadly had to dropped since we originally announced this show. However we still have Lavender, the Central Illinois-based shoegaze project, and also Pretend I’m Not There- the loud and ambient solo project of B.J. Pearce. Then opening things up we have a performance by the femme jazz rock band Shark Week.

Tonight, we have a mixed show going on at Black Sheep. It actually features five bands from Springfield and the surrounding area all of which have never performed at Black Sheep before. Be sure to check out The Horse Show going on during the day at the Refuge Ranch as well. For this show we have a local band called “Trouveur” who have not yet performed at the Black Sheep. In fact, this whole show might be made of local bands performing at Black Sheep for the first time! Check out one of Trouveur’s songs streaming on the player below. For this show we also have the heavy metal group Dedwayte. Then before that we’ll be taking a trip over to 108th Street (to see the band 108th Street). Opening things up looks like we have a newer local metal band called Abolith. One last minute addition and at the top of the bill tonight is Become the Adversary from Decatur!

Now that Dumb Fest 4-Ever we’re ready to chill out just a tad and go back to our regular 4-band shows. What a better way to *chill* than this 4-act all-solo show happening at Black Sheep tonight. None of these projects have any band links or any music online, sorry. At the top of the bill we have the newer mysterious industrial project called Ceiling Lust. And then pictured above and next on the list is the loud, ambient guitar project of B.J. Pearce called “Pretend I’m Not There.” Then we have a couple of solo acoustic performers. The first of those is Mario Cannamela (of bands Wir Können and Livin’ Thing), and then we have Blue Parks (of the band Pryss).

Time to get back into the swing of things with a very full summer full of many many shows. We have a good amount of metal shows lined up for you all this summer, starting with one happening tonight. This show features the metal/post-hardcore band from Cleveland, Ohio called “Along Came A Spider.” They will be coming here on tour with Roots Like Mountains from Colorado, who performed here at Black Sheep early just this year. Stream a track by Roots Like Mountains on the player embedded below. Then we have a couple of local metal acts on the bill, including local metalcore act Set Fire To Salem. Opening things up is the hard rock metal band Abyss.

Can you believe it, just one more final show happening here before Dumb Fest and then it’s time to get ready for a weekend filled to the brim with music and madness. Tonight is another Monday night metal show- this one featuring the touring band Spirit Breaker coming from Michigan. Looks like there are a whopping whole five other local bands opening the show up. First of which we have Set Fire To Salem, metalcore from Springfield. We also have Noesis, playing the metalcore from Carlinville, Illinois. Up before them is Accents from Staunton, Illinois and the surrounding areas. Then opening things up we have two bands from the area both with “eyes” in their names and that would be Through Burning Eyes, and There Is Beauty In Her Eyes.

Tonight there is a show happening at Black Sheep, and it’s a benefit show for a stroke victim which we told you about just a couple of days ago. We have a whole six bands on this one, of all different types of genres so it is sure to be a good time had by all. Top of the bill, (going first? or last? we are not sure on the order of bands tonight) is Spooky Poo, who made a recent appearance at our last open mic. Check out some of their music streaming on the player below. We have another Decatur project related to Spooky Poo called “Gadget” playing for the first time at Black Sheep. Then coming from Peoria and also familiar to the Black Sheep stage is pop punk band Terribly Happy. Then we have the Champaign/Urbana area folk punk rocker band Old Fox Road. We also have Moondead. And last but not least is Sammy And The Punk.

Tonight at Black Sheep we have a show and clothing drive going on! The clothing drive is starting at 5:30 pm, and bands will be playing at 7:00 pm. Let’s go over the bands playing tonight and then we will talk about how the clothing drive is going to work. The show lineup tonight features the arena rock dress-up jumpsuit costume classic rock band Livin’ Thing. It also includes the solo hip hop project – Animals With Human Names– who will be playing at Black Sheep for the second time. Stream some of Animals With Human Names’s music below. Also on the show is two-man electric ukulele project Sweet Bippy. We also have Shark Week. And opening things up is a solo set by Blue Parks.

The show is at 7:00 pm, but the clothing drive will be happening a bit earlier at Black Sheep, at 5:30 pm and going up until the show. Bring whatever used clothes you want! Tonight it’s a Monday night and we have some big time Monday night metal going down at Black Sheep! This show features quite the lineup of bands including The Convalescence from Toledo, Ohio who have performed at Black Sheep a number of times now. This time around The Convalescence will be on tour with two other acts including “Hallows Die” and “I Apollo”. This Monday night metal show would not be complete without a splash of pop punk in the middle, so we have Fill In The Blank also playing the show. Before them is Central Illinois based metalcore band Through Burning Eyes. And opening things up we have Springfield metal act Set Fire To Salem.
