July 8th at Black Sheep: Remiss, Mr. Fisher and the Hospitality, Mother Leopard

9059_629210207108875_1200913079_nEarlier today we had to tell you about the show tonight getting cancelled at last minute, and today we have a sort-of last minute show to tell you about happening on Monday. It all works out! The show on Monday will feature the emo/indie band Remiss from Cedar Falls, Iowa. You can check out a few of their tunes on the player below. On tour with them is the band Mr. Fisher and the Hospitality (weird band name, huh?). They come from Albuquerque, New Mexico and play a type of indie/rock. Also playing the show is Springfield’s own Mother Leopard. Did you like Mother Leopard’s set at Dumb Fest? Then come to the show on Monday!

August 1st at Black Sheep: Nephrons, Hank., Cassfield, Caterpillar Club

8.1.13flierToday is the first day of July and we have a show announcement for the first day of August. Summer summer summer summer! It’s summer! This show is sure to be a good one. It also might be the first post-Black Sheep Fest 2013 show? We will have to see. This show will feature Nephrons. The last time Nephrons played at Black Sheep was at our cover show in May. They did a Jawbreaker cover set that time, but they will be playing their own original songs at this show. We have the math rock band Hank. coming through on tour from Champaign, Illinois. This will be their return to Black Sheep after the last time they played here in October. You can also check out a song from Hank. below. Next we have Cassfield based out of Brooklyn, New York. Cassfield isn’t really a band, but instead a type of performance piece. Should be interesting! Opening the show up is Springfield’s own heavy/shoegaze band Caterpillar Club.

July 19th at Black Sheep: Withershins, Dibiase, Werepire Day, boon

black-sheepOn Friday, July 19th we will be hosting a great indie-rock/shoegaze/summer show for you all. This show features Withershins, who play indie/shoegaze and are based out of Champaign, Illinois. You can check out some of their music on the bandcamp player below. Next up is the band Dibiase. They are an instrumental band from Collinsville, Illinois. Before them will be Werepire Day from Bloomington, Illinois. Last time we saw them play at Black Sheep was in early May. Last but not least (or first but not least) is Springfield’s own boon.

July 11th at Black Sheep: Free At Last, Baldknobber, Aporia, Bo Mellado

july11flierGet ready for another weirdo and mixed-genre show in July! We have a weird flier by Jeff Brown (above) to accompany it. This time coming through we have Free At Last, a hardcore band from Springfield, Missouri that is on Springfield, Illinois-based record label Dog Years Records. On tour with Free At Last is the band Baldknobber. Then we have a couple of local acts for you. The harsh noise project of flier-creator Jeff Brown, Aporia, will be performing. Then opening up the whole show will be Bo Mellado of Mildred. We do not know what Bo has in store for us this time.

August 5th at Black Sheep: Pound For Pound, Primitive Man, Reproacher, Scott Blacula, Aporia

Pound For Pound will be playing and they will also be celebrating fourteen years as a hardcore band in Springfield. Joining them and playing blackened doom metal on tour from Denver, Colorado is Primitive Man. You can check out some of their music on the bandcamp player below. Bring earplugs. Also on tour with Primitive Man is Reproacher from Cheyenne, Wyoming. They play a “pissed off/sludgy” hardcore. Next up we have the ultimate villains of the Springfield music scene, Scott Blacula. Who will they be battling out this time? Opening up the whole show is Aporia, the newer Springfield harsh noise project from Jeff Brown of And God Said Dance.

July 20th at Black Sheep: Off With Their Heads, The Timmys, NIL8

Remember that show back in March where Off With Their Heads was supposed to play at Black Sheep? Well sadly they had to drop, but they also promised us that they would come and play in Springfield sometime very soon to make up for it. Well guess what folks? That day has come! Off With Their Heads will be playing at Black Sheep on Saturday, July 20th! (For real this time!) They won’t be joined by Teenage Bottlerocket this time, but we do have quite the lineup of bands for this show! Also playing this show is Springfield long-running punk rock band The Timmys! (Who also won your choice for best Springfield album of 2012). Then we have… NIL8!?! The even longer running Springfield punk band has not played Black Sheep since Hobgob in October- which was also NIL8’s 30 year anniversary as a band. Come dance, stage dive, and slam to this incredible lineup of bands on July 20th!

July 9th at Black Sheep: Unraveler, Highwayyys, Self-Proclaimed Narcissist, Lovecow, Montagh

That was a pretty fun acoustic/folk show last night, wasn’t it? All of the food from the potluck was GREAT! Thanks to everyone who brought food, played, or even came out and watched bands and ate food. Are you ready for another acoustic show? Well here’s another one that is coming up! This show is on Tuesday, July 9th. It features acoustic songer/songwriter Unraveler from Pittsburg Pennsylvania. On tour with Unraveler and also from Pittsburg is Highwayyys.  Then we get to experience some acoustic music from the other end of the country all the way over from Roseburg, Oregon! We have Self Proclaimed Narcissist, another one-man singer/songwriter. All of that should be a lot of fun. To top the show off we have a couple of local bands on the bill. We have the acoustic full-band Lovecow and also Montagh.

4th of July at Black Sheep: Pound For Pound, Black Mask, Big Storm, Execution Techniques

Well you better cancel them and get ready to come to Black Sheep because we are going to celebrate the Fourth with some great bands and music! We have quite the mixed lineup of bands for you all! There is something in this show for everybody, so there is no reason everybody can’t be there! Headlining the bill is Pound For Pound, who will be approaching fourteen years as a band in Springfield. Next we have Black Mask on tour from Pennsylvania. They play a very fast type of hardcore and will be making a return to Black Sheep after their last show here in November of 2012. Next up is… Big Storm? That’s right! Big Storm will be here to bring the feel-good rock amidst the noise and hardcore madness. Opening things up is the return of Execution Techniques, bringing on the noise.

Headlining the bill is the local pop-punk band Up In Arms! They will also be playing Black Sheep Fest at the end of July! Then we have Oblivion Oasis from the small town of Arthur Illinois. Before them is Kickstart, another great pop-punkn band local to Springfield. Opening things up we have Hometown Heavyweights from all over Central Illinois.

June 26th at Black Sheep: Makeout Vertigo, Meredosia, Montagh

And it looks like this is also going to be a show featuring bands that all start with the letter “M”! This includes an out of town touring band called Make Out Vertigo. Make Out Vertigo is a female-fronted pop band from New Jersey. You can check out some of their music below. The middle “M” band is the newly named Meredosia (formerly Dreameater and Nathan & The Sheep). Opening things up is the folk-acoustic band Montagh.
