We are jazzed to announce a fairly short notice party featuring the one and only DIARRHEA PLANET. These Tennessee natives were born to shred frets off guitars and flesh off faces. This time is no different, just in Springfield! This show will be happening at Black Sheep on Sunday, March 2nd. Also on this show will be the infamous Champaign wrestling two-piece Dino Bravo, who will be performing for the first time at Black Sheep since Dumb Fest. Also on this show is a brand new Springfield band called Mouthsex (pronnounced “mouth’s ex). Make sure to bring ear plugs.

Are you ready for the most metal show to happen at Black Sheep this year? On Saturday, March 29th we will have more metal than you can possibly handle. We have the band Beresith (pictured above) coming from Indiana. They play a blackened type of death metal that will melt the insides of your eyelids and you can catch a sneak peak of that on the youtube player embedded below. Another out of town band on this show is The Gorge from St. Louis. They will be coming with another sludgy metal band also from St. Louis called The Lion’s Daughter. This show will also feature the second Black Sheep performance by brand new Springfield metal band, Kharybdis! To top that all off we have Champaign black metal band Orator coming to Black Sheep, right after they have battled  Table Drama earlier this month.

Here we are today with yet another show announcement, this time for Friday, March 7th. This show is pretty mixed-genre with all sorts of surprises. This show will feature Champaign fuzz-punk band Kowabunga! Kid as they head out for a tour out west. Kowabunga! Kid recently played the Harm House New Year’s Eve show and also played at Black Sheep this past summer. This show will also feature one of Springfield’s newest filth-punk bands Asthma. Make sure to be careful in the Asthma-attack pit. For all of the punk fans, there will also be a performance by hardcore band Cabeza Twins from McHenry, Illinois. You can find some of their music playing on the player embedded below. We also have a couple of first-time performances from some new Springfield bands. There will be a set by a brand new band going by the name of JAG. Come to the show and find out what they are all about. This will also be the first live Springfield performance by noise-artist Owen Davis. Be sure to come to the show early to catch those two!

It’s February and our March show announcements at Black Sheep are starting to roll in. This punk show is going to be happening on Saturday, March 15th. The show will feature long time Springfield punk band The Timmys, who have not played a show at Black Sheep in a little bit. We also have the punk/hardcore band Better Days coming from St. Louis. You can check out some of their music playing below. Then we also have a very new and very punk Springfield band playing this show called The Oswalds. Opening things up will be the two-piece band Mystery Gift. Rumor has it that someone in the band will be celebrating a birthday, so be sure to bring a mystery gift for Mystery Gift.

This show will start at 7:00 pm and admission will be $5. There is no facebook event, but that’s okay. You should check out our shows page to see everything else that is coming up at Black Sheep!

Coming up next month we will be hosting another movie-night at Black Sheep that will accompany a three-band local show that is going to be a lot of fun. The last time we had a film screening inside of Black Sheep was for Dither: The D.I.Y. Sound and it ended up being a big success. This time coming up on Saturday, February 22nd we will be showing the 1984 classic sci-fi classic, Repo Man. The movie will start at 6:00 pm so make sure you bring some popcorn and a friend and show up early. As soon as the movie is done (which is one hour and a half) we will be hosting a three band show. Playing this show will be the two-piece Worms, who have never played at Black Sheep before this. This will be their cassette release show, with their cassette being put out by new Springfield label Blackbox Records. We also have another great two-piece Springfield band, Mystery Gift. To top the night off we have a set from some sort of surprise new punk band that we know nothing about.

Coming up on Saturday, February 8th we have another “big and bad” Black Sheep acoustic show! This will be a great time for all, and hopefully the weather will be also getting warmer. There will be some sort of potluck going on, and also Dumb Records will be open until 9:00 pm that night. Acoustic acts playing include Jess Knight of Looming and Asthma, and also Jordi, or Jordan Fein of Looming. Also on this show is Dustin Sendejas formerly of the band The Transatlantic. This show also has two newer acts. This will be the second show of Rella, which features Clare Frachey’s solo work and also Honey/Suck which is the spoken word of Aubrey Puyear.

Check out this show coming up at the end of February! Looks like Hank and Capys are going on an epic tour that WE are included in. Hank is a Champaign based pizza-core math-party band and Capys are really just out to rock everyone out of their socks, so come check out this show! It’s sure to be pleasing. Austin Connely is Goku will be the official designated anime rock band of the evening, so get ready to toon-goon slam. Additional acts are welcome.

It looks like 2014 is bringing all sorts of big and exciting bands to Black Sheep. Today we are excited to announce that we will be having the band Ultra Bide’ play at Black Sheep on Sunday, February 16th, who will be touring all the way from Japan! Ultra Bide’ are a punk band that has been around since 1978, and they are currently on the US punk label Alternative Tentacles. We are very excited to have them play at Black Sheep.

The show will still feature previously announced bands Table Drama, Carnivores At Grace, The Oswalds, and The Science Of. It looks like what was already looking like a great show with a killer lineup on Sunday, February 23rd has just gotten even better. It looks like Indiana-based shoegaze band Cloakroom has been added. Cloakroom are a newer band on Run For Cover Records. You can check out some of their music streaming below.

The February 23rd show will continue to feature bands Run, Forever, Our Lady, and Looming. The show will start at 7:00 pm and admission is still $5 (what a deal). Look at this wonderful show coming up on Sunday, February 23rd! It looks like Black Sheep will get to witness another Our Lady performance on this special night, with their last Black Sheep show being way back in November. This show will also feature the return of good friends Run, Forever from Pittsburg, Pennsylvania. The last time Run, Forever came through Springfield was a very last minute show that happened close to one year ago. Also playing this show is the newer hit Springfield pop band, Looming. Looming also won your choice for best Springfield song and album of the year.
