October 18th at Black Sheep: Asthma, The Wrong, The Bug, Teen Freak

Let’s skip a couple of days into the future from the last show announcement we just made and then we have another show for Saturday, October 18th that looks extra spooky. For this show we have local slam band, Asthma. We have a couple of punk bands coming from Chicago for this show. There is The Wrong, which is a newer band whose music you can find streaming below. We also have The Bug, which is another newer Chicago punk band featuring members of Bailout, Anomaly, and Raw Nerve. Opening things up will be the odd-ball ongoing band lotto band, Teen Freak.

October 16th at Black Sheep: In Exile, Mystery Gift, Hideaways, Loses The Mighty, Panzys

On with the October show announcements! This one is happening on Thursday, October 16th at Black Sheep. It will feature touring band from Chicago In Exile. In Exile features members of Flatfoot 56 and this is not their first time playing Black Sheep. You can stream some of their music below. They will be playing here with a band called Hideaways. They will be joined by local support from jangle-punk band Mystery Gift. Then we have Central Illinois melodic hardcore band Loses The Mighty. Opening up the show is young snot punk band Panzys.

October 3rd at Black Sheep: Mikey Hash, MPress, OM33ZY, Khunnit Music Group

Time for some more October show announcements. The month would not be complete without a good hip hop show, and this one is happening on Friday, October 8th. For this show we haver rap artist Mikey Hash (pictured above). Mikey is also playing a show this upcoming Friday at Black Sheep. Next up from Southeast High School is a group going by the name “MPress.” Then we have another hip hop solo artist, Omar Harris. To top that off we have Khunnit Music Group coming from Lanphier High School.

Dying Whale and Machinist Added To Saturday Show at Black Sheep

We have a couple of last minute changes to a show happening at Black Sheep coming up this Saturday, September 27th. The show is taking place right at 7:00 pm at Black Sheep, while Cassette Store Day will be going on next door over at Dumb Records. There are now two touring bands from Georgia playing the show at Black Sheep. They are Dying Whale and Machinist!. Both play a style of melodic hardcore. You can check out some of Dying Whale’s songs streaming below. In addition to those bands there is also the original lineup of Psycho Fight, Naked Butchers and Bacon, Nobody’s Friend, and Green Lights.

October 10th at Black Sheep: Lost Spirit, F///\\\M, Resinater, Meredosia

It’s time to get ready for all the great October shows to start pouring in. This one is happening on Friday, October 10th and it is going to be a great one. We have the band Lost Spirit coming from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. They are a newer band featuring a member of Guard Records band Estates and you can stream some of their music below. Also on this show we have Springfield one-man post-rock project F///\\\M. Then we have some friends from Champaign in a newer band called Resinater, which features a member of Our Lady. To top that all off we have an appearance by Springfield post-rock band, Meredosia.

October 11th at Black Sheep: Looming, I’m Dead Inside, Knives, Wir Können

On Saturday, October 11th it looks like we have an all-local show with a great lineup of four Springfield bands that you won’t want to miss. Playing this show is hit pop/indie rock band Looming who recently posted some updates while recording from South Town Studio. Come out and maybe catch some of their new songs. Also on this show is hectic screamo project I’m Dead Inside. They will be preceded by the another new Springfield screamo project called Knives that will get you all shook up. Opening things up we have another band currently working on new material in South Town Studio, Wir Können.

October 17th at Black Sheep: Maps For Travelers, Mystery Gift, The Oceanographers, Deadron, JAG

Today we have a spooky show announcement for a show happening on Friday, October 17th. This show we have the No Sleep Records band Maps For Travelers coming from Kansas City. For this show we also have the surf/indie rock band The Oceanographers coming from a skip and a hop away over at Peoria, Illinois. Sounds like fun. Then we have Freeport, Illinois band Deadron. They are an indie/punk band. We also have very alternative band Mystery Gift playing for us all. And last but not least the spookiest band in all of Springfield will be playing this show, JAG.

September 27th at Black Sheep: No Friends, Psycho Fight, Naked Stitches And Bacon

As many of you know, Saturday September 27th is Cassette Store Day at Dumb Records. There will be a short show there at 1:00 pm that day. Today we are announcing that there will also be a three-band show at Black Sheep on Saturday, September 27th. This show will feature Chicago band No Friends. This is also a rare show for a Springfield punk rock project called Psycho Fight. Also opening things up there is a band called Naked Stitches and Bacon. Sounds like a blast!

September 26th at Black Sheep: Big 6, Habilis Riccardo, #2LiveNation, DB Cooper, Mikey Hash

Looks like another great hip-hop show is being lined up before this month is over. That’s right, this one is on Friday, September 26th and features a lot of great hip-hop and rap artists that we have had play at Black Sheep in the past. This is also some sort of a birthday show for Dancin’ Dave, so that probably means that we will all be dancin’! On this show we have Victor Bacon, who also goes by the name Big 6. Then we have Habilis Riccardo, who has played at Black Sheep before. Other Black Sheep veteran performers include D.B. Cooper and Mikey Hash. Topping it off we have a performance by an act going by the name “#2LiveNation.” You can probably expect some sort of giveaways, food, and more at this show.

September 13th: Black Sheep 9-Year Anniversary Show

10156866_933893833302734_513753515_nCan you believe that Black Sheep will be turning nine years old next month? That’s pretty old. On Saturday, September 13th we will be celebrating 9 years of Black Sheep with a special 4-band show. Come out and celebrate with us even if you weren’t there for all nine years. For this show we have three piece shoe-sludge-gaze band featuring Black Sheep owner Kevin Bradford, Caterpillar Club. We also have a very special reunion happening of a band that used to frequently play Black Sheep called HK47. You can find a video of them playing the carpeted stage in 2006 below. Also playing this show is post-hardcore band Loses The Mighty. They have a few members that are moving to Springfield this fall, and just got done recording at South Town Studio.
