We gotta say we are very excited for this show happening at Black Sheep next month on Saturday, August 12th. This one features an all-star lineup, with the all-star rock band “It’s Me: Ross” who some of you may have caught at Cafe Andiamo during Dumb Fest #5 last month. They are from Columbia, Missouri and will be on tour. Check out their music below. We also have Taylorville rockers Stick People on this bill for a real treat. Another out of town act is “Special Death” – which is a new Chicago-based project featuring Kyle Lang of the project Easter which performed at Black Sheep a few times years ago if anyone remembers them. Opening things up looks like we got the alternative emo band Bottom Bracket making a nice well rounded gig.

Yes if you can believe it, this is a real show that we are announcing today happening in exactly one month from now on Friday, August 18th at Black Sheep. All of the fans of the ancient and almost forgotten genre of “ska” music can come out of hiding for this one because we have legendary ska punk band MU330 from St. Louis coming to play Black Sheep. MU330 formed almost 30 years ago in 1988, and have released 6 or 7 albums most of which on Asian Man Records and have been known as a notable third wave ska band. Dan Potthast (vocals / guitar) of the band did make a guest appearance on the Black Sheep Radio Show at the end of last year and has also performed solo sets at Bar None and The Harm House in recent years. Rounding off the bill we have the two grand pappy punk bands of Springfield – NIL8 and The Timmys. This will be NIL8’s first performance at Black Sheep since Hobgob 2015. It’s been an even long time since The Timmys have played at Black Sheep at this point – the last time being in February of 2015. This show will also be a celebration of 20 years of The Timmys being a band – their first show was with MU330 in 1997 here in town at Viele’s Planet.

This show which is sure to be one of our biggest this summer – will start at 7:00 pm, doors open at 6:30 pm. Admission will be $12 in advance and $15 at the door. MU330 music

We have a doozy of a show coming up here in about one month on Thursday, August 17th featuring some great punk acts from different parts of the state. The one big time Springfield band on the bill is Starlorde – or are they from another planet? Hmmm… The touring act on this bill is Droid’s Blood from Chicago. Droid’s Blood features members of a good number of bands that have performed at Black Sheep before including Broken Prayer, Sputter, and more. Check out some of their music streaming on the player below. This show also features The Dry Look – one of the closing acts on Dumb Fest 5 last month who played inside Dumb Records. It’s hard to believe, but we actually may be at the end of all of the July show announcements we’ve been getting through every single day for the past week or two! So many shows happening here in July! This one is happening at the end of the month on Sunday, July 30th. You remember that band from Louisville, Kentucky called “The Foxery”? They played here a few times, but have changed their name or something like that to “Pleasures of the Flesh” and they are playing here for this show. Check out some of their music under that name on the player below. Also on this show we’ve got emo/indie band Bottom Bracket. We’ve also got our friends from over in Champaign/Urbana in the band Krelboyne coming over to rock for us. Opening things up is that hit Taylorville band that everyone has been raving about, Stick People.

Well hot dang looks like we haven’t made an official announcement post for this show which is happening in just a little over two weeks from now at Black Sheep!  On Thursday, July 27th we will be blessed once again with another Looming performance – and the first since early March of this year. Looming will be performing at Black Sheep this night and then also two days later on the 29th as part of Downhome Music Festival. Check out their first single they dropped off their new upcoming album right here. Aside from Looming playing, this show lineup is already looking great on it’s own. We have the return of the band Aviator from Massachusetts for the first time in over two years. Check out some of their music streaming on the player below. We also have the band Lume from Chicago, who played here last later last year as part of one of Our Lady’s last shows. Opening things up we have a special treat and that is the local band Moondead… playing their final show? Come out to see them one last time!

Usually the summer brings plenty of metal at Black Sheep and we have this pretty big one coming up before the end of the month on Tuesday, July 25th! This will be happening a few days after another metal show we recently announced on Friday, July 21st. This one features heavy big time touring act Outlier from San Jose, California. We are happy to have them. You can stream some music from Outlier on the player embedded below. Also on this show is heavy hitting Central Illinois metalcore act Noesis. They are actually heading out on tour themselves pretty soon! We also got the hard rock act Abyss on board for this one. Opening things up looks like we’ve got Crown The Martyr from Peoria, Illinois.

“PUNK SHOW” – that’s what we have going on here at Black Sheep on Saturday, July 22nd in just two weeks wether you like it or not. We got just three bands comin’ at ya all with pretty short and fast sets. This includes the band RASH from Chicago, you can stream some music from them on the player below. We also have a couple of local acts from right here in Springfield of course. You like Nirvana? Well you are in luck because we’ve got the hit Taylorville grunge / alternative band Stick People on board for this one. They are good as heck. Opening things up is somewhat of another return of the almost lost and forgotten Springfield punk band Undone!

Are you ready for a big night of metal at Black Sheep? Well this one is happening exactly two weeks from today on Friday, July 21st and features plenty of that. This show features the newer Springfield metal group Kryosis. Check out their brand new EP streaming right here. We have another metal band new to the Springfield area called “Eyes From Above” who played at Black Sheep for another show late last month. Stream a song from them on the player embedded below. Then we’ve got a metal band from Jacksonville, Illinois lined up called “Robot Army.” Opening things up we’ve got an act called Bloodsoaked Boogie Bandits- get ready to boogie with them!

As we said yesterday, we are now at the beginning of a streak of 5 shows in a total of 6 days at Black Sheep / Dumb Records. Today is the only day out of all of those there isn’t a show, and this one on Monday, July 10th is going to be the last of the streak. For this show looks like we got ourselves the touring cowboy punk band from Austin, Texas – “Leche” on board. Stream some of their music on the player below. Pretend I’m Not There – local solo ambient act – is what’s going to be closing out the night. We should also mention that Leche the band is touring with another lo-fi solo act from Austin who will also be playing the show. That is “Grady Drugg” at the bottom of that there flier. And what do you know this show is bringing out a rare appearance by the local punk band Say Something, first time we have seen them in a minute.

Wow, have we really not told you about this show yet!? This one is coming up this upcoming weekend on Saturday, July 8th. You are not going to want to miss it. For this one we have the band Runaway Brother returning from Ohio – the band last played here over two years ago in the spring of 2014 along with Looming. Stream some of Runaway Brother’s newer music on the player embedded below. Runaway brother will be touring with the solo project “Farseek” also from Ohio and also familiar to the Black Sheep stage. For this one we have local band Bottom Bracket on the bill. Opening things up is also a rare solo performance by Jessica Knight of Looming.
