WQNA Broadcasting Live Saturday Afternoon For Record Store Day, also Bread Stretchers Show

wqnqaa.jpgAt one point we told you we might be working with a couple of radio stations in town for Record Store Day this upcoming Saturday and yesterday announced that WYMG‘s morning talk show hosts Lynch & Lara will be broadcasting live right at the start of Record Store Day when we open at 8:00 am. Tonight we are filling you in on plans for WQNA – who will be broadcasting over at Recycled Records in the morning, but moving their setup over to our store later on in the afternoon and also doing something that we have never before attempted: broadcasting a whole show live on air! That’s right – WQNA will be broadcasting the show happening next door to us at… “Bread Stretchers” this upcoming Saturday featuring Parkway & Columbia, Stick People, HECK, and Kate The Band. This might be a “test run” of sorts, so if everything goes well it could be something we’ll see in the future! You can listen live at 88.3 FM or online at wqnaradio.org.

Find a facebook event for Record Store Day right here, and a facebook event for the show that night right here. Our store is open from 8:00 am to 9:00 pm for Record Store Day, and show is at 7:00 pm. Don’t miss it!

100.5 WYMG Broadcasting Live From Record Store Day + Dumb Records Sponsoring “Vinyl Fridays”

WYMG_photo

A few of you may have noticed we’ve been on the airwaves outside of our usual 4:00 to 6:00 pm timeslot on 88.3 WQNA… this time getting mentioned (and interviewed) on 100.5 WYMG! Dumb Records has dipped into our first radio sponsorship ad, by sponsoring some Fridays of WYMG’s morning show “Vinyl Friday” feature hosted by Lynch and Laura (who also won “Best Radio Show” in the SJ-R’s reader’s choice awards). A couple weeks ago Brian Galecki was in on the morning show and they spun a few records on air that came straight from our show. And they’ll be doing that same thing this upcoming Friday for those of you listening in the early morning hours! And guess what else, WYMG will be broadcasting LIVE at the very start of Record Store Day from our store this upcoming Saturday! They plan on interviewing some of you in line for the big event, also will be live over our PA system until 10:00 am that morning. We’ll continue sponsoring some of their Vinyl Fridays after that as well.

WQNA also has separate plans for Record Store Day involving our space, which we will likely fill you in on tomorrow!

langfelder.jpg

Tonight we are announcing to all of you in our lovely city that we are truly blessed to be able to have our dear mayor, Jim Langfelder on as guest on our radio program, The Black Sheep Radio Show this upcoming Friday. The show airs Friday (and every Friday) from 4:00 to 6:00 pm on 88.3 fm WQNA. You can stream online during that same time at wqna.net. We have been told that Jim is a record collector himself and will be bringing in a few of his favorite records from his own collection for us to play on air. If we are lucky we will also be calling up The Shadows of Knight to do a quick interview, a garage rock band which started in 1965 playing at Black Sheep on Saturday.

Recently Dumb Records made the newspapers again in the SJ-R with an article linking us to mayor Jim Langfelder “Dumb Records Uses Mayor Langfelder’s Likeness In Web Ad”. Check that out right here. The article talked about a recent video ad the store launched with a talking photograph of Jim Langfelder promoting the business. There may have been a few other videos that have popped up between now and when the article came out.

(Above photo of Jim is when he appeared for an interview on WUIS / NPR radio).
