Continuing with our streak of great guests on our weekly Friday radio program! It is Friday! And that means until further notice we have our show on the airwaves of 88.3 WQNA FM from 4:00 to 6:00 pm! You better tune in or else! If everything goes as planned, today’s special guest is WQNA station manager Jim Pemberton! Jim’s been behind the scenes of the station for 20+ years from our understanding and we’ve done our show for six and a half of those years without having him on as guest! WQNA as a station is also hitting the big 40 year mark somewhere right around now! So we’ll be chatting with Jim about all of that, as well as the current state of things for the station and what’s next.

Tune in to our program today and every Friday from 4:00 to 6:00 pm on 88.3 WQNA FM or online at the same time at wqnaradio.org. We’ve been recording past episodes which you can find on our Mix Cloud page!

Guess what, it’s Friday so that means it’s another episode of The Dumb Records Radio Show!! Our show isn’t over until they pull the plug (which could be at any given point, but we’ll keep you all updated with any news regarding the status of WQNA as soon as we are able to). Today we are back on air, and continuing our streak of having special guests on with us every single time! Today’s guests are the band Reaver from Alton, Illinois playing at Dumb Records tonight! We’ll be talking with them halfway through the episode and playing plenty of their new album that just recently came out.

Tune in at our regular time from 4:00 to 6:00 pm today and every Friday on 88.3 WQNA FM, or online at wqnaradio.org! Also check out our radio page or Mix Cloud page to stream some recently recorded old episodes.

Gross! Nasty! Today is Friday and it’s another episode of The Dumb Records Radio Show that’s on every Friday from 4-6pm until the plug gets pulled and we are off the air (which could happen literally at any given point)! Until then we are still rockin’ and rollin’ on the radio airwaves of Springfield and we are going to do so today with THE Nasty Boys from Milwaukee, Wisconsin! (Pictured above fishing for sharks in the lakes of Wisconsin). Tune in to hear us talk to the Nasty Boys and their nasty attitudes, and also play some of their music, and also music from a lot of other local bands and musicians.

Our radio program airs today and every Friday (for now) from 4:00 to 6:00 pm on 88.3 WQNA fm. Also online at that same time at wqnaradio.org. We’ve uploaded a lot of old shows recently onto our Mix Cloud page, check that out!

Oh and by the way, if you want to follow along with the status of WQNA and the future of the station, there is a newly created facebook page you can follow!

WQNA and The Dumb Records Radio Show may be ending soon at any given point, but we are going to continue with business as usual until we can’t any more on our usual Friday timeslot of 4:00 to 6:00 pm. We have our second ever hip hop show going on at Dumb Records tomorrow night, and as guest on our show today we’ve invited one of the artists who just recently dropped an album, DreTheGuy. DreTheGuy aka “DeAndre” just recently released Lapis Effect which you can find streaming right here online and will be performing at our space tomorrow.

Tune in from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm today and hopefully a few more Fridays to come (we’ll see?) on 88.3 WQNA FM or online at the same time at wqna.org. Also check out our Mix Cloud page for a few recent episodes we recorded streaming online.

Today On The Dumb Records Radio Show: Totally Nicholas

We sure have been having a fun time with getting more in the routine of getting guests on our radio program and recording episodes lately. We recently got a Mix Cloud page up for the Dumb Records Radio Show, and now have the past four episodes recorded and streaming there. It’s Friday so that means another episode of The Dumb Records Radio Show airs on 88.3 WQNA from 4:00 to 6:00 pm. Today we have young local content creator “Totally Nicholas” coming in to hang out as guest. Totally Nicholas doesn’t have a whole lot to do with local music, but we’re glad to have him as a guest anyways. We’ll be sure to be plenty of local music and stuff from bands coming to town.

Again, The Dumb Records Radio Show airs today and every Friday from 4:00 to 6:00 pm on 88.3 WQNA FM. It streams online at the same time on wqnaradio.org. Check out our radio page right here for more info and to listen to some past episodes streaming.

Today On The Dumb Records Radio Show: Dexter Anodyne

DEXTER_HELP.jpg

It’s Friday so that means it’s another episode of The Dumb Records Radio Show live on air from 4:00 to 6:00 pm. Today we are happy to welcome on guest and musician Dexter Anodyne, who will be having an album release show at Dumb Records at midnight tonight! We will hopefully be playing some tracks off of that album, talking to Dexter, as well as playing plenty of other new local music and bands that are coming to town.

Again, our show airs today and every Friday from 4:00 to 6:00 pm on 88.3 WQNA FM, and is also streaming live online at that same time at wqnaradio.org. We have been recording our episodes and have some past ones streaming on a newly created Mix Cloud page! We will be sure to record this one as well.

Today on The Dumb Records Radio Show: Len Trumper (Whatever Productions)

todaysguest.jpg

It’s Friday! And how nice, it’s a rare Friday where we don’t have anything going on as far as shows go at our spot. What a nice break on this hot hot weekend! There is Abe Fest going on tonight and tomorrow downtown however so be sure to check that out!

Today is another episode of The Dumb Records Radio Show and we are excited about this one. For today’s episode we have special guest Len Trumper of Whatever Productions coming in to talk with us. Len was active setting up concerts for bigger acts in Springfield in the 1970’s and early 1980’s such as ACDC, The Cars, Black Sabbath, KISS, RUSH, and many many more. Check out an article The Illinois Times did on Len a couple of years back right here. We will be playing plenty of music from acts that Len was responsible for bringing in, as well as other current local bands and bands coming to town.

The Dumb Records Radio Show starts at 4:00 pm today and every Friday and goes until 6:00 pm. You can stream live on 88.3 WQNA FM or online at wqnaradio.org. To stream some episodes of the past, head over to our Mix Cloud page or radio page on our site. Yes, we will be recording this episode!

Len Trumper (Whatever Productions) Upcoming Guest on Dumb Records Radio, NPR Illinois: “What Was, And What’s Next For The Illinois State Armory”

IMG_8681.jpg

Now that we have our Dumb Records Radio Show set up to be recording and more adequately streaming old episodes, we are excited about a number of guests we have lined up on our show. This Friday coming up (July 19th) we are excited to welcome guest Len Trumper formerly of Whatever Productions onto our program. Len was responsible for bringing big acts to town from 1971 through the early 1980’s such as The Cars, ACDC, Van Halen, Black Sabbath, and many many more. There Len is pictured above with his room full of posters for concerts he was responsible for promoting. These took place at various places including The Illinois State Fairgrounds, The Illinois State Armory, and The Convention Center. The Illinois Times also did an article on Len Trumper a couple of years ago which you can find right here.

We also find it worth noting that NPR Illinois just recently came out with a piece talking about the history of the Illinois State Armory building since it was built in the 1930’s, what it’s been used for since then, and what’s next for it with a few million dollars going towards fixing up the structure in the near future. Unfortunately it doesn’t seem like any big concerts are in the foreseeable future for any newly renovated Armory building. Find the full NPR Illinois piece on their website right here.

The Dumb Records Radio Show is live on Friday (and every Friday) from 4:00 to 6:00 pm on 88.3 WQNA FM. It can also be streamed online at that same time at wqnaradio.org. To check out episodes of the past head on over to our radio page.

This is a post to let you all know that we seem to finally have found a good system for getting our old (more recent for now) recorded radio shows for The Dumb Records Radio Show up streaming online for those of you unable to listen from 4:00 to 6:00 pm on Fridays when we are live. Right now we have been adding those episodes to a newly created Mix Cloud page! Go check that out right here. Also can we even embed those episodes below??? Let’s try it…

Holy cow did that work?? That’s awesome! Also sorry but this past Friday’s episode we did not start recording until 30 minutes in to the program. The Dumb Records Radio Show is on every Friday from 4:00 to 6:00 pm on 88.3 WQNA FM and also online at wqnaradio.org. Maybe we will update our radio show page to also include the embedded players for past episodes. We’ll see. For this Friday we have a very special guest coming in and that is Len Trumper of Whatever Productions, who was involved in bringing bigger rock acts to Springfield in the 1970’s and early 80’s such as Van Halen, The Cars, Black Sabbath, and many more.

Today on The Dumb Records Radio Show: Lori Kiel (White Oaks Mall)

todayonourprogram.jpg

It’s another Friday and we are keeping the ball rolling with some solid guests lined up on our radio program! Last week we had a great time chatting with Tim Smith about the upcoming Abe Fest going on next weekend downtown. We actually got a “Mix Cloud” page up and rolling so that we can start posting old recorded episodes! Check that out right here. This week, after being curious about what’s going on with a concert series in the White Oaks Mall food court – we reached out to the mall directly about someone coming in to talk to us on their behalf. So today as our guest we have Marketing and Business Development Director Lori Kiel coming in to talk with us! Wow! Lori will be talking with us about the Friday evening concert series they have going on now through the end of September. Tonight’s series actually includes Dexter Anodyne and Caleb Coppinger, and starts at 6:30pm out at the mall food court.

You can tune in to our radio program at 4:00 pm today and every Friday – from 4:00 to 6:00 pm on 88.3 WQNA FM. Also stream the show during the same time online at wqnaradio.org.
