Next Black Sheep Roundtable Meeting: Sunday (9/30) at 7:00 pm

We have a lot of things coming up at Black Sheep including the construction of a new stage among other inside projects that need to get done.  Are you wanting to help out at all with the construction of the new stage or anything else?  Then come to the Black Sheep roundtable meeting at 7:00 pm on Sunday!  The meeting will be held at Black Sheep.  We will be going over our list of what needs to get done before the end of October and we will set some times to execute what needs to get done.  Any volunteer work helps us out a TON.

We are also 80% of the way to achieving our $400 goal for the new stage!  A big thank you to all of you who have donated so far, and for those of you who are interested in donating some more to help us reach our goal, you can go over here to our big cartel.  There is also a donation jar set up at the bar during shows.  Together we can reach our goal!  Any extra money left over from the stage will also go to fund more projects such as better lighting and sound.

Black Sheep Tonight: Our Lady, The Please & Thank Yous, Easter, Intricate Collapse

Tonight we have a killer show to end our two-show weekend of celebrating seven years as Springfield’s all ages music venue.  Everyone should come out and have a great time.  Feel free to bring your foreign exchange students.

First we have Intricate Collapse playing experimental metal for you.  Then we have Easter, the bedroom indie-pop project of Lyle Lilly Lang from Champaign and Oak Forrest Illinois.  Then from Chicago we have the great pop-punk band The Please & Thank Yous.  And last we have local hard working punks Our Lady, playing their last show with drummer Gary Swaggerty III.  It should be a great show.  Also feel free to check out our other upcoming shows over at our shows page.

Another reminder that there will be a Black Sheep roundtable meeting at 3:00 pm today.  If you would like to help at all with the exciting things and changes that are happening to our venue, then come on out and join the discussion!

9/2 Roundtable Meeting RECAP! + “Deep Clean” on Wednesday

After a very productive second Black Sheep roundtable meeting last night, we have some big things in store for the inside of Black Sheep.  Together we laid out some plans for a new and better stage to come later this fall.  We also listed some things we would like to happen along with the building of the new stage.
On Wednesday we plan on having a “Deep Clean” where we will sweep, vacuum, and clean EVERYTHING inside of Black Sheep.  The cleaning will start at 5:30.  Everyone is invited.  Expect some changes to come to the inside of the venue along with the cleaning.
Anyone interested in joining in on the roundtable discussions can go to our forum.  We have a thread dedicated to a giant to-do list we came up with at the first roundtable meeting.  We also plan on holding our next roundtable meeting on Sunday, September 16th at 3:00 pm.

8/26 Black Sheep Roundtable Recap & Roundtable No. 2!

The outcome of our very first ever Roundtable was awesome! We covered some real great topics. We started off with an open spit-fire idea shout out. There was some real good stuff in that. We also touched on our Street Team, the current status on our stage (and what is in store for it in the future!), and finances. It was awesome to get some new thoughts on some very long pressing issues.

If you want to be apart of these meetings, you’re in luck! The next one will be on September 2nd at 7:00pm. We will be discussing what we will be doing about a new stage! Oh, and we will doing a BXS Deep Clean & Potluck on the 5th of September. Bring a dish and come sweep! Roundtable Meetings will be happening every other Sunday starting 9/2, and Deep Cleans will be happening once a month. All are welcome to come!

We are very excited for what these meetings hold. There are some great things to come!

We filled 3 poster boards!

Sunday, 8/26: The First Black Sheep Roundtable Meeting

Do you have any ideas on what we can do to make Black Sheep a better place?  Do you have any ideas on what new projects we can take on or how we can make shows better overall?  Next Sunday (a week from tomorrow) on August 26th we will be having the first of hopefully many roundtable meetings at Black Sheep.  Anyone who is interested in talking about what we can do to improve shows and our venue is welcome to come.  The meeting will be at 3:00 pm and is expected to run at least two hours.

Don’t forget there is also a jazz show at Black Sheep that night at 7:00 featuring End Times Trio and Herbivore.
