– Other details on the Black Sheep website and our end of the year music poll were discussed.

If you missed the last meeting and want to come, don’t worry! There will be plenty more. Keep checking our news section to find out when the next meeting will be. Everyone is welcome to come to our roundtable meetings.

Black Sheep Roundtable Tomorrow

kevindadTomorrow (Sunday) we will be holding another Black Sheep roundtable meeting at 5:00 pm. There are still a lot of kinks that need to be worked out with the Black Sheep Radio Show and we are still looking for volunteers to help us out with some of that. If you would like to help or discuss the radio show or anything else Black Sheep or Springfield shows related, come out to the meeting! We will be meeting at 5:00 pm inside of Black Sheep.

Roundtable Meeting 11/18 RECAP

Last Sunday a few of us met to discuss the upcoming Black Sheep Radio Show. We talked about what we want to have on the show and how we plan on organizing some of the music. Here is some of the things we are looking to have:

– interviews with bands
– new and old band recordings
– recordings from regional and national acts that will be playing Springfield soon
– bands play live in the studio
– funny segments highlighting the many personalities of Springfield’s music scene

Then a couple of days ago we started putting together music for the radio show. Right now we have a total of 64 albums and 568 songs, but those still need to be sorted through so we can determine which can be played on the radio. We really need the help from those of you in bands right now get music together. You can send us music in the form of mp3s to blacksheepspringfield@gmail.com or also give us CDs at any Black Sheep show. It would also be helpful if you told us which songs are radio friendly and which are not. Hosts for the show are also to-be decided.

The next roundtable meeting will be held at 7:00 pm Sunday December 2nd.

Black Sheep Roundtable Meeting Tonight

Along with the announcement of the new Black Sheep radio show earlier this weekend, we requested some help gathering music from bands yesterday. With revolution winter upon us we need to organize and discuss what we need to do to properly launch our new radio show and stay on top of things this winter.

We will be meeting at 7:00 pm tonight (at Black Sheep) to discuss the new radio show and other things. Come if you have any ideas or even if you just want to sit and listen. Anyone is welcome to join.

10-21 Black Sheep Roundtable Meeting Recap

Above: A Magic Tournament was held at Black Sheep in the beginning of October

Are you looking to get more involved in the Black Sheep community and our space? Then coming to the bi-weekly Black Sheep roundtable meetings would be a good way to start! Our last meeting was on Sunday and here are a few things we touched up on:

  • Hobgob 2012 was a huge success and we are all excited for shows and events to come in our space!
  • We agreed it would be a good idea to invest in Black Sheep stickers to be available for free at shows. A few hundred have been already been ordered.
  • There are still a few areas in our space that need to be painted and cleaned before the winter.
  • We need more new art on our walls! If you are an artist and are interested in doing any murals or art installations then get ahold of us at blacksheepspringfield@gmail.com
  • A big holiday show is in the works as well as some other great winter events.
  • There are also plans to start a wall of fliers of past Black Sheep shows. Start digging up those old show fliers.

Sunday will not be the last roundtable meeting!  If you are interested in participating in our next meeting it will be Sunday, November 4th at 7:00 pm.

Tonight at Black Sheep: Chad Jeffers Memorial Show

Tonight is the Chad Jeffers Memorial show. As a farewell, his friends have gotten together and put this show on in Chad’s memory. It features Springfield legends Pound For Pound, Milwaukee’s New Society of Anarchists, and Decatur’s hard hitting Soy City Strangers. It also features the sponsors Gato Negro Tattoos and No More Victims. The show is $5 with all proceeds going to the Gateway Foundation. It will be starting at 7:00 pm.

You can also check out what other shows we have coming up over on our shows page.

And then on Sunday, we are having a Black Sheep Roundtable Meeting at 7:00 pm.  Didn’t get the chance to help out with changes inside Black Sheep before Hobgob?  That’s okay! Come to the meeting and help us decide which projects to tackle next.

Stage Donations Are Closing In On The Goal

First Off: Thank to every single one of you. All your donations and work hours has made the process for BXS’ renewal a whole lot easier. Our monetary goals for the stage are very close!

Though big reveal for “Stage 1” is on October 19th, our work isn’t quite done. We want to encourage the continuation of the donations. Though the cost of the stage is almost covered, the projects we have planned will be costing. These plans will be announced over the next couple weeks.  If you have any ideas, please email blacksheepspringfield@gmail.com.

To those of you following our “roundtable” meetings this fall- we are not meeting tonight.  Instead we will continue cleaning, painting, and doing other inside projects this afternoon.  Everyone is welcome to come help.  Our next meeting will be one week from today at 7:00 pm.

Another reminder – if you have any equipment inside of Black Sheep right now then you need to get it out.  We are cleaning and clearing out space especially in the front windows and equipment left in the space is getting in our way.

Roundtable 9-30 Meeting RECAP + Black Sheep Construction

Last night was Black Sheep’s last roundtable meeting before we take on our next and biggest construction phase of the fall.  Big things are ahead for Black Sheep and we need all the help we can get.

First off, thank you to everyone who has donated so far towards our stage fund.  We are approaching our goal but we still haven’t quite made it yet.  If this stage is going to get built we need the funds for it.  Donate here.

In the upcoming weeks we need help in the form of donations and also time.  If you would like to come and help with construction and remodeling projects in the upcoming weeks, listen up!  We will have people working at Black Sheep in the upcoming weeks every weekday evening starting Tuesday (tomorrow) at 5:00 pm.  We will also be there working other weekdays starting at 5:00 and Saturdays sometime during the day.  Anyone is welcome to come and help.

We could also use your help in the form of tools and materials.  If you have any extra plywood, or any other type of wood that you are willing to get rid of, we could use it.  If you have any extra carpet or curtains, we could use it.  If you have any tools we could borrow, we could probably use them too.

We also need your help getting the word out about upcoming Black Sheep shows, mainly the Hobgoblinspookadelic show on October 19th.  Our goal is to have a lot done by this show, so it is a huge show for Black Sheep.  Help getting the word out by printing out some of the fliers below and passing them out to friends.
