The record elves have been getting ready big time for Record Store Day at Dumb Records happening next month. That means all they are starting to stock the record store to the brim with solid new and used vinyl, CDs, and cassettes. If you go into Dumb Records this week you might also see a few changes to the inside of the space. Dumb Records is open Tuesday (today) from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Friday from 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm and Saturday from 10:00 am to 9:00 pm. Hey look! It looks like we have this big and tasty treat coming for you all next month. The weather is getting warmer and on Saturday, April 19th we will be hosting a big all-day event at Black Sheep and Dumb Records for Record Store Day. For this we will be having THREE separate shows- one at 1:00 pm inside Black Sheep, one at 3:00 pm inside of Dumb Records, and one inside 7:00 pm inside of Black Sheep. WOW. WOW! Did you get all of that? That was a lot to take in, we know. So at 1:00 pm there will be a free three-band show inside of Black Sheep. Then at 3:00 pm there will be another free acoustic show inside of Dumb Records. THEN at 7:00 pm there will be a $5 regular show inside of Black Sheep featuring Spoonboy, an act that will be on tour from Washington DC. You can check out some of Spoonboy’s music below. This will also be the very first show for a brand new Springfield project going by the name “Fuck///\\\Mountain.” We have been told that this is a new solo project featuring one of the members of Looming and Big Storm. This show will ALSO be the cassette release show for Springfield punk band Say Something. That’s a lot of stuff.

We almost forgot to mention that everything inside of Dumb Records will be 10% off during record store day! We also might have a few special items featured in store for this day for all of you record collectors. There also might be a few slight changes to the inside of the store and you may get to see even more new and used CDs/cassettes/vinyl up on the shelfs in time for Record Store Day.

The new Southtown record store, Dumb Records is still fairly new so its hard working and dumb owners are still trying to figure out a few kinks and tricks that will make the store the best possible record store it can be. Because of all of this, starting March 1st there will be a change in operating hours. Check out the new hours below:

Fridays from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm
Saturdays from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm
Tuesdays from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm

+ Nights there are shows at Black Sheep from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm

Sound good? Good. Dumb Records will no longer be open Friday mornings, but instead will be open on Tuesdays from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Tuesdays will also be days for Dumb to highlight new arrivals coming in for the week. So be sure to (starting next Tuesday) stop by Dumb after school or work and check out everything new the store has to offer! The store is still trying to make sure there are new arrivals in every week. We will also start posting the Dumb Records new arrivals on this site every Tuesday starting next week. Stay dumb.
