Ladies and gentleman, tomorrow is the big day. Black Sheep Fest is upon us! In case you had no idea, Black Sheep Fest will be gracing us with the punkest kids in town, an epic flea market, good times and of course EIGHTEEN local bands giving us their awesome jivy jams. This will all be attainable through the astounding price of 5 dollars, so start digging for change under your couch cushions because this is something you won’t want to miss. The results of the Black Sheep Fest T-shirt contest are in and here’s what’s going down folks: we are going to have TWO shirts. You’ll have to see which two won our contest at Black Sheep Fest tomorrow! The shirts will be sold for $10 each.

Another special item that is going to be sold at Black Sheep Fest is a newly re-packaged Gunga Dins 7″! While you are enjoying Blacksheep Fest, check out the new Gunga Dins 7” by either buying it or admiring it. This band is a gem of a band that’s been sparkling in Springfield for at least 15 years, so not only will you be supporting local music by giving them a gander, you’ll be supporting local punk rock music history! How about that.

Money from the sales of these 7” records and shirts will be going to the Black Sheep so get them while they last and rock on! Money will be going to support our venue and possibly go towards getting new monitors put on our space. Check out the Gunga Dins here to see just what these folks are made of.

It’s hard to believe, but Black Sheep Fest 2013 is now only one week away. That means one week from now things are going to be pretty crazy inside of Black Sheep (see above picture of last year’s fest). With the fest being only one week away, we could use your help with some preparation!

– We could always use more help getting the word out about Black Sheep Fest and other shows! You can find fliers to print right here and here. It also helps to share the Facebook event around.
– Cleanup for Black Sheep Fest will be going on at 6:00 pm on Friday. This cleanup won’t be as intense as getting ready for Dumb Fest, but we could always use some help. Anyone who wants to come early the day of the fest to help us set up (around 11:00 am) is also welcome.
– We are having another flea market this year! This means feel free to bring stuff that you want to get rid of, or come prepared to take other people’s old stuff home with you!

Hey all! We thought we would drop by with an important reminder that Black Sheep Fest is now less than one month away! Wow! The festival is happening Saturday July 27th this year, and to find out who is playing you can check out our Black Sheep Fest page.

With the fest only one month away, we are calling for your help in helping us get the word out about Black Sheep Fest! We think this year’s fest is going to be the best we’ve had yet so it would be great to see plenty of old friends and new faces out! Here is a list of things you can help us do to promote the fest:

• We just printed a few fliers that we will have available at Black Sheep shows! Take a few, and hang them up at school, work, home, or wherever! There are also hand fliers that you can hand out to friends.
• It also helps us out a lot if you print your own fliers to pass out. You can download the flier for Black Sheep Fest right here.
• Do you use Facebook? Well the Facebook event for Black Sheep Fest is right here. Go ahead and hit “attending” and invite some friends! Sharing the link around also helps us a lot. Telling everyone about our website (blacksheepspringfield.com) is also another great way of getting the word around.
• If you are unable to do any of the above, the best way to get the word out about shows has always been word of mouth. Tell a friend about Black Sheep Fest!

We will also be hosting a big Black Sheep Street Team meeting at 2:00 pm on July 13th (before the Battle of the Bands). At the meeting we will be passing out fliers and talking about other shows going on at Black Sheep. Together we can make this the best Black Sheep Fest yet! Dumb Fest was… something else. It may take us a few weeks to recover from all of that. Before we get a chance to recover from Dumb Fest, we have to announce the lineup for BLACK SHEEP FEST 2013! Ready? Here we go!

That’s a lot of bands. Special thanks to Mike Tirehaus for making the flier this year. This year’s Black Sheep Fest has more bands than ever. All of them will be playing on the stage at Black Sheep (unlike Dumb Fest). The fest is going to start right at 1:00 pm on Saturday, July 27th (so be sure to ask off work)! Big things at Black Sheep are happening this summer and we are getting ready to announce the lineup and flier for Black Sheep Fest 2013 happening on Saturday, July 27th. We are very excited about the lineup this year and feel that this will be the biggest Black Sheep Fest we have had so far.

The lineup includes 18 bands local to Springfield. One of the spots is held for the winner of the Black Sheep Battle of the Bands. We might also get to see a reunion or two from some old Springfield bands?

The lineup will be posted along with the official flier at Dumb Fest at Black Sheep and Skank Skates on June 14th and 15th. The newly created facebook event can be found here. The fest will start at 1:00 pm and continue all day and night. Admission is $5. More shows coming up this summer can be seen on our shows page.

Look at all of those shorts and trees. Who’s excited for summer? We sure are. Today we wanted to put a tiny mention that Black Sheep Fest will be Saturday, July 27th this year (instead of the first weekend of August). This is because we do not want to clash with Down Home Music Festival happening downtown like last year.

Aside from Black Sheep Fest, Dumb Fest will still be happening June 14th and 15th. We anticipate that we will be releasing the lineup and flier for Black Sheep fest at Dumb Fest.
