We are very excited for what today has in store – 11 local bands plus one comedian taking the Black Sheep stage. Things kick off today at 3:00 pm. We will also have a donation jar set up to raise money for our broken heating and cooling system, so come out with cash or checks to support our cause if you can! It’s hard to believe it, but Black Sheep Fest 2018 is happening this weekend! Wow! The festival starts at 3:00 pm on Saturday and goes on all afternoon and will likely end a little after 10:00 pm at night. For those of you wondering about band set times, we’re here tonight with the official schedule. This has been slightly updated a few times since first announced, including the addition of local-ish comedian Dan Alten appearing a couple of times throughout for a comedy routine.

Today is a big day for all of Southtown! It’s hard to believe we made it this far, but here we are at the tenth ever Black Sheep Fest we have ever put on. Black Sheep Fest every year is a celebration of local music in Springfield and also Black Sheep as an all ages show space. This year we’ve got 15 local acts of all different genres playing the fest. Be sure to check out Blacks Whites and Blues Festival happening in Southtown today and tomorrow as well – and just a heads up that 11th street directly in front of Black Sheep will be closed off today so we will have to work around that.

We are now exactly one month away from Black Sheep Fest 2017 – the tenth annual Black Sheep Fest we have put on since the first one in 2008. You can check out that lineup of 15 acts all local to Springfield right here – we actually did have one recent addition of one back outside of Springfield, and that is the band Ghoul Jr. featuring Veronica Mullen who was our official Dumb Fe5t photographer this year.

Today we are announcing that once again will be holding a design contest for the next Black Sheep Fest shirt design! This is open to anyone who wishes to participate! If you would like to come up with a design or drawing to have printed on shirts for this year’s fest – just make sure it says “Black Sheep Fest”, and the year 2017 or “#10” on it somewhere! Designs can be submitted to our email blacksheepspringfield@gmail.com. You have between now and July 20th to submit your designs! Once the deadline hits we will vote for a winning design here on our site.

Happy first day of summer! With it being the summer solstice and all right now, we feel it to be pretty appropriate today for us to announce our other summer festival – Black Sheep Fest happening this year on Saturday, August 5th. This will actually be the tenth Black Sheep Fest we have put on at Black Sheep, with the first one being three days in 2008! That’s right this year the fest features another reunion and that is the old Springfield pop punk group BHS (Banana Hammock Soldiers), who were active some years before Black Sheep was even around. Also we are crossing our fingers on the new project of Brandon Carnes – “Night Night Boy” being able to perform.

Hey! Black Sheep Fest 2016 happened yesterday and we just want to take a minute to thank all of you who came out to support and all of you who performed in bands. You can check out a chunk of photos (taken by Brian Galecki) below, or about a whole hundred of them on our facebook page. Be on the lookout for some news tomorrow regarding our first ever play to take place at Black Sheep this weekend! Also news on our eleven year anniversary show will be coming very soon. Hopefully we are able to continue doing this long enough to make it to Black Sheep Fest #10 next year!

Here we are with one of our biggest ‘hoorah’s of the summer, and the longest running festival happening every year at Black Sheep. That’s right it’s Black Sheep Fest! Happening today starting at 2:00 pm, this will be our ninth Black Sheep Fest yet with our first starting in 2008. We have a great lineup of bands planned for today, and maybe even a rumor of an unofficial aftershow happening behind us up in South Town Studio. That’s right, the lineup includes a few twists and surprises. We have our big Battle of the Bands winner, Stems going on at 7:40. We will also have Black Sheep Fest t-shirts for sale for $10, and if you are hungry Popeye’s Barbeque will be open most of the day next door. Dumb Records of course will be open all day during the fest, also next door.
