Watching Cozy Dog Cuss This Week

Why don’t we start with what show is coming up. Looks like we have hardcore kids streaming in from all over, Alabama even to play a show here Thursday.

Here’s your hot Friday releases:

– FLIGHT OF THE CONCHORDS and their self-titled 2008 album: it’s getting a gold vinyl re-issue!
– HOZIER’s self-titled album is now 10 years old and the deluxe edition is now being released on vinyl! On black double LP.
– We’ve got a line of re-issues from 90’s shoegaze band SLOWDIVE including “Soulvaki”, “Pygmalion”, and “Just For A Day.”
– Also re-issues from REGINA SPEKTOR including albums “Begin To Hope,” “Far,” and “What We Saw From The Cheap Seats.”

This week Pep picked the Police

“I bet you all didn’t expect me to be picking THE POLICE this week! This is their second full length album, “Reggatta De Blanc” originally released in 1979! NO, it doesn’t have “Roxanne” on it, but it DOES have “Message In A Bottle” and “Walking On The Moon” on it! My favorite track? “No Time This Time”. I always thought The Police were great at blending that 70’s rock with a little bit of punk and a healthy dose of reggae mixed in. Enjoy!”

We have also added a new pinball in the arcade this week!

TOASTED CHEESEHEAD all the way though

Let’s start off with what you wanna see, the hot new vinyls coming out Friday!

– The biggest one if SLEEP TOKEN and their fourth studio album “Even In Arcadia” ! It’s a double LP on black vinyl.
– Or maybe everyone will be rushing in instead for that MUPPETS: THE GREEN ALBUM re-issue (originally released in 2011) a nice collection of muppet songs, on green vinyl.
– ANDRE 3000 (of Outkast) has another new album coming out called “Moving Day”, presumably more FLUTE MUSIC and that’s okay!
– THE WEEKND: “Hurry Up Tomorrow” “Complete Edition” coming out on double LP.
– Indie rock band THE HEAD AND THE HEART are here with their new album “Apeture”
– Last but not least we got a K-POP release from BTS’s own J-HOPE with “Hope On The Street Vol. 1”

This week Pepperoni picked Meet The Beatles

“It’s been a minute since I’ve picked THE BEATLES (some say the world’s greatest rock and roll band?) as my pick. And you know what, I’ve picked Abbey Road, Yellow Submarine, and Rubber Soul as my picks before but I have yet to pick some real early Beatles stuff. So here is their second U.S. studio album, “Meet The Beatles” originally released in 1964. All Beatles songs are hits really, but this one’s got “I Want To Hold Your Hand,” “I Saw Her Standing There,” and “All My Loving” on it. Enjoy!”

Lately we’ve been getting in some insanely good used records that will be hitting our shelves in the coming weeks, like this insane collection of top tier jazz, and this weird rare Beatles bootleg. A lot of this still will be available on our discogs page, but it’s always cheaper if you can get it in our brick and morter stores.

We’ve also been slowly stocking used VHS and DVD in our mall store. As long as you’re not calling our phone and pestering us about it, we’ll keep this little pipe flowin.

Consume Responsibly

Wow our midnight Ghost record release party was a huge hit! A whole ton of people came out for it and everything! We’re really excited how all this went and we’re for sure looking for more opportunities to party with everyone in the future.

Here are this week’s new vinyl releases!
– STAR WARS LOFI!?!? On some wild looking splatter vinyl!??
– American country artist ERIC CHURCH’s eighth studio “Evangeline Vs. The Machine” – is it gray vinyl or is it black I can’t tell.
– A re-issue of PRIMUS’s 1990 album “Frizzle Fry” on purple and white split vinyl!
– Canadian punk band PROPAGANDHI are back with their first album in 8 years – “At Peace” – we can’t remember if we ordered black vinyl or the pink kind.
– PINK FLOYD LIVE AT POMPEII – going along with a re-issue of the 1972 live film, which I saw they are showing at the iMax theater here!

This week Pep picked Tracy Chapman

“My pick this week is Tracy Chapman’s 1988 self-titled debut album! This was (finally) recently re-issued on vinyl, and thank goodness it was because original copies have been highly sought after ever since we opened our store. The album features a blending of folk and roots music, with lyrical content gearing towards political and social issues. “Fast Car” was the biggest hit on the album that made it to the billboard charts.”

Sorry We Already Have a Wacky Waving Tube Guy

We’re having our first Official late night release party for Ghost this Thursday. All you Ghost weirdos better come out!

Here are this Friday’s hot new vinyls!
– We should have copies of GHOST’s 6th studio album “Skeleta” on opaque violet vinyl for this weekend (hopefully some are left after the midnight release party)!
– VIAGRA BOYS are here with… “Viagr Aboys”?? On exclusive blue and white vinyl, and also black.
– Jam band GOOSE are coming out with a triple-LP mega album “Everything Must Go” on colored vinyl!
– OK GO first new album in 10 years, “The Adjacent Possible” on fancy red and blue vinyl! The cover might fold out into some sort of beautiful pop-up?
– TENNIS pop duo with their final album “Face Down In The Garden” and we should have indie exclusive bone vinyl!

his week Pepperoni picked Siamese Dream

“Sit down gang, it’s story time. The year was 2024. The city of Springfield was filled with excitement as the town was getting ready for the 171st annual STATE FAIR. The big headlining act this year was “The Smashing Pumpkins” from the big city of Chicago. The city of Springfield had never had such an act perform on a stage in its city before. The mayor of Springfield was sure to hang up banners reading “welcome Billy” every lamp post, and every piece of trash was picked up from the sidewalks.

It was the day before the big concert and I was doing my usual thing, working the counter at my record store, greeting customers and sleeping on the bags. Smashing Pumpkins greatest hits LP had came out on vinyl for the first time earlier that week so I was playing that in the store. A man wearing a purple zip-up jacket (I thought this was odd because it was the middle of the summer) and a ball cap and a mustache was perusing the jazz section and he stopped to give me a pet on the head. As he did this I recognized the scars on his hands right away. It was Billy. “Bil-” I almost shouted his name but he held one finger up to his mouth to “shhhh” me. He took off his fake mustache and winked at me. And then he took out his phone and took a picture of himself on his own greatest hits LP which was on our store’s wall and he posted it to his Instagram story. Then he bought like 4 jazz records and tip-toed away into the night! And that is the story on when I met Billy Corgan.”

Wow we really had a Record Store Day

Lots of folks waited in line at both stores eagerly awaiting Record Store Day last Saturday

We certainly had the biggest RSD of all time. Thanks to everyone who came out.

Back to business now, here is Pepperoni’s Pick of the week:

“Blue album or Pinkerton? I actually already picked the blue album as my pick over a year ago, but now, I am finally picking Pinkerton. In my opinion they are both great and both have their hits. It’s no Beverly Hills, but this one has “El Scorcho”, “Pink Triangle”, “The Good Life”… really a masterpiece from start to finish.”

Here’s this Friday’s HOT New Vinyls!

– CHILDISH GAMBINO has a new double LP “Bando Stone And The New World” apparently this is his last album? apparently this is a soundtrack for a movie that doesn’t exist and it’s some sort of listening experience? what is going on?
– SAM BARBER “Restless Mind” new album from 22 year old American country artist, I don’t actually know what color of vinyl we are getting.
– FALLING IN REVERSE re-issue for for their 2015 album “Just Like You” on pink splatter vinyl.
– BEIRUT with their seventh studio album “A Study Of Losses” on transparent blue vinyl.
– And then re-issues of some popular Record Store Day releases of the past including STRESS EATER (aka Czarface) album “Everybody Eats” on black vinyl.
– and “SOUTH PARK: The 25th Anniversary Concert” out on a tri-fold cover and 3LP black vinyl.

RSD in 10 Days

We’re very busy getting everything ready for Record Store Day coming up on April 12th, only 10 days away! We’re trying our best to make this the biggest event ever!

Meanwhile, here are the hot new releases coming out this Friday!

– ETHEL CAIN “Preacher’s Daughter” – this is an album that was actually released in 2022 but the physical release is this Friday and our phone’s have been ringing off the hooks about it. Is this one a big deal? We will have some regular copies and some indie exclusive copies – I can’t figure out what color the exclusive vinyl is (maybe black still?) but I do know the exclusive comes with a poster.
– TRACY CHAPMAN – her 1988 album is finally being re-issued on vinyl! This has been mostly unavailable to us for as long as we have been doing the record store. Some copies pressed on orange and some black

– MOMMA “Welcome To My Blue Sky” this is a release from our friends at Polyvinyl Record Co. and we have some type of exclusive flexi we are giving out along with purchases of this new album!
– BLACK COUNTRY NEW ROAD new album “Forever Howlong”
– ELTON JOHN and BRANDI CARLILE have a collaborative album “Who Believes In Angels” and we have the pink and yellow pinwheel vinyl coming in.

This week Pepperoni picked this Queen record

“This week I am picking Queen’s 1980 album “THE GAME”. It’s got “Crazy Little Thing Called Love” on it, it’s got “Don’t Try Suicide” on it, it’s got ANOTHER ONE BITES THE DUST on it, what else do you want me to say about this!?!?”

– VAN HALEN “Live In Dallas 1991” is being re-issued! This came out for one of the recent Record Store Days and sold out quick.

This week Pepperoni picks John Prine

“My pick this week is John Prine’s debut album from 1971. John Prine, a country/folk legend who actually had ties to Illinois (born and raised in Maywood) – if anyone remembers the “State Of Sound” exhibit at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum a few years ago, you may remember seeing John Prine’s wooden stool (he maybe had a harmonica there too?) (shoutout to Joe Crain). Anyways, all of you kids coming in looking for Bob Dylan because you just saw the new Timothée Chalamet biopic – if we are out of Dylan, I recommend picking this record up you just might like it!”

Record Store Day is right around the corner. We’re starting to receive our shipments and fine tuning our plans. We even have a special coffee blend for the occasion thanks to Arrowroot Coffee!

Oh one more thing, we also recently added a new game to the arcade!

You’re no fun

We have so much going on right now, one thing is we finally got an official sign up at our mall location so we look like a real store even!

oh yeah there was a parade too

Here are your hot new vinyls plopping out this Friday!

– SELENA GOMEZ and Benny Blanco collaborative album “I Said I Love You First” on that juicy red vinyl.
– SOPHIE “Oil Of Every Pearl’s Un-sides Non-stop Remix Album” Huh? I guess this is the re-mix version of a 2018 album.

This week Pepperoni picked out Type O Negative

“My pick this week is goth-metal band Type O Negative’s 1996 album “October Rust”. Every time I see this album cover with the thorns I think it is going to be the heaviest thing I have ever heard. But I listened to it in full again yesterday and you know what? It’s just guys singing in slow motion with bells and drums, actually kind of nice! Nick from Good Heart Tattoo next door heard me playing it outside and popped his head in and said “H*ll yeah, Pepperoni about time you played something good!”

We’ve been buying a lot of really great used records lately, lots of good stuff coming out on our shelves soon! We’re always looking to buy and we give big money for good stuff!

ol Iron Lung Back on the Job

ol Iron Lung Brian made it back to work this week and has started farming more records for the stores while carrying around his fruit punch.

This week Pepperoni picked The Clash

“My pick this week is The Clash’s 1979 iconic album “London Calling.” You’ve all seen this album cover before. That’s actually bassist Paul Simonon smashing his bass at a show at the Palladium in New York in 1979. I’m more of a fan of The Clash’s good old fashioned punk rock in their first two albums – London Calling brought blending of reggae, new wave, and a few other things and is a tad slower than their earlier stuff. Highly influential though I’m sure and still one of the coolest album covers of all time. My favorite track on this one “Brand New Cadillac”

We’re also excited to finally have TV Girl records in our store after receiving requests for years from this elusive band. Hopefully more to come, too!

Desperate Need of Inflation

Right after a huge and successful vintage fair weekend, our record farmer Brian decided to celebrate by having a collapsed lung all week. He’s still in the hospital but will get better. In the mean time we’re having a sale!
