Today is one of the biggest days of the year for Southtown record store Dumb Records and also record stores all across the globe. That is because today is Record Store Day- an annual event set up to promote independently owned record stores and the culture around them. This year Dumb Records is an official Record Store Day store, and you can check out the list of exclusive releases that will be coming in from our post earlier this week right here. There will be plenty of exclusive releases available today, and in addition to that all non-RSD items are 10% off, plus every purchase comes with a free Dumb Records tote bag. Dumb Records is open today at 1107 South Grand East from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm.
There will also be a 3:00 pm, $5 show happening inside of Black Sheep today to go along with Record Store Day. For this show we have a newer Bloomington/Normal band called Unhappy Gilmore. We also have Champaign/Urbana emo group Slam Dinner, which features members of Soap Scum, and a few other familiar bands from the area. Also on the bill is pop punk group from Central Illinois – Horrible Things, who have not played a show at Black Sheep in over two years now. Last but not least we have Springfield/Champaign/Bloomington emo favorites, Wir Können. Find a facebook event for Record Store Day and the show right here.
