There is a new addition to a hardcore show happening at Black Sheep one week from today on May 4th. That is Newton, Illinois’s Side-Lined playing heavy and experimental hardcore. This show will be the band’s return to Black Sheep after not having played here in a while! We also announced this earlier, but the show will also feature Scott Blacula (local to Springfield), Denouncer from Florida, and Soap Scum (local to Springfield).

We have a couple of updates for a show coming up at Black Sheep on May 2nd (which is Thursday)! First of all, there is a flier for the show. You can find that right up there ^^^. Second, the band Yogi Beara has been added to the show. Yogi Beara plays heavy/hard rock and features members of old Springfield bands The Least of Alls and Rebel Jade. Also playing the show (which we have already announced) is All Eyes West from Chicago, Neprhons from Springfield, and Werepire Day from Bloomington Illinois.

Tonight is our second show this week! And it’s Friday and it’s beautiful outside so you have no excuse not to come! This time it’s another good acoustic show. April has been a good month for acoustic shows and we are wrapping the month up with this one. Tonight we have Mitch The Champ coming from Bloomington, Indiana. Then also coming from Bloomington, Indiana is another acoustic act and that is Garrett Walters. Our third out of town act: Sheldon is not from Bloomington, IN but instead he is from Louisville, Kentucky. Now for the locals! Acoustic/folk singer Brandon Carnes will be playing. And opening things up we have Scott Blacula arch nemesis Paqui, who will be playing his first acoustic set ever!

On Sunday, June 9th we have a show coming up that will feature young middle-school punks and older punks and then everything in between! This show features The Timmys, who last played Black Sheep along with Teenage Bottlerocket in March. Then we have a couple of bands traveling from St. Louis to play here for the show! One is The Cuban Missiles! You can check out some of their music streaming below. The other St. Louis band is The Haddonfields. Opening things up we have Springfield’s newest and youngest punk band RDNT. All of this is sure to be a real treat.

Who’s in them mood for a nice spring time show? We just did a little bit of spring cleaning on Sunday and got the place cleaned up a little bit for this nice folk show going on tonight! We have the band Cottontail coming on tour from Arizona and featuring members of Ramshackle Glory. They play softer indie/folk type stuff. Then we have a few local bands. Lovecow will be playing. They just released a new EP, which you can find on their bandcamp or also pick it up from them at the show tonight. Also playing from Springfield is Montagh, formerly Austin & Austin. Opening things up is a brand new project called Borealis, featuring a member of the punk band Soap Scum. Sounds fun!

Oh look! It’s another show coming up in May! The band Mutts from Chicago will be playing as a part of their tour for their new “unplugged” album. They will be performing an unplugged set too, which we assume means mostly acoustic stuff. Then we have the super big band Big Storm featuring members of the Brandon Carnes Band. The other out of town band playing the show is Payphones from St. Louis. They play experimental rock. And opening things up we have the video-game themed band from Springfield Like… With Jetpacks! Hopefully they will be playing some of our favorite video game tunes and a few originals.

There are a few shows going on in Springfield tonight outside of Black Sheep that we feel we should tell you about. The first is a house show at The Radon Lounge. Headlining the show will be Analecta, the post-rock post-metal band on tour from South Bend Indiana. Then also playing and on tour is The Traditional from New York. They are a four piece rock band. Then there will be a couple of local bands opening things up including shoegaze sludge project Caterpillar Club. And starting things off will be the folk punk band Lovecow. There is also another show taking place at 8:30 pm at the Tin Can Pub tonight. That show features bands Silow, Witchweed, Scott Blacula, and Set Piece. More info on that show can be found on the facebook event right here.

Finally, there is a big Viele’s Planet Reunion going on this afternoon and tonight at Capital City Bar and Grill. Last we heard the show has been sold out, but we figured we’d tell you about it anyway! For more info on that show you can check out our original post here.

It’s the weekend and there is a show tonight and there is a lot to be excited about! Tonight will be the very first show of a young Springfield punk band and also the CD release of a Springfield band celebrating four years of being a band together. The four-year old band is Obi-Wan Kanblo Mi, and they will be releasing the CD for their new EP: Episode VI: Return of The Red Eyes. You can stream some of the songs off of their EP right here. Also playing the show tonight is Coward’s Way Out from the St. Louis areas. You can stream some of their music below. We also have Must Build Jacuzzi playing ska-punk from the Peoria area. And then we have a couple more locals. We have Lovecow (who recently released a new EP) and RDNT (who will be playing their very first show)!

On Thursday, May 2nd at Black Sheep we have a “90’s rock explosion” show for the 30+ crowd! Just kidding, you should really come out no matter what age you are because there are some really great bands playing. This show will feature the Chicago Hüsker Dü-influenced All Eyes West. Then we have Springfield local “dad-rock” band Nephrons. Opening things up right now will be Werepire Day, playing some 90’s rock. Keep your eyes and ears peeled for any more band additions to the show!

The big night is here! Tonight is the big acoustic/folk/punk show we’ve all been waiting for! And on top of all of that it’s pretty much summer! Woohoo! Tonight Sean Bonnette of the popular folk/punk band Andrew Jackson Jihad will be playing at Black Sheep. He will be playing some acoustic tunes, covers, and who knows what else. Also playing and on tour with Sean is Ian Graham of the alternative/indie/punk band Cheap Girls. Then we move on to the local bands! We have Lovecow, the acoustic folk/punk band that you may have heard the other day on Black Sheep Radio. Then we have Austin & Austin- who now prefer to be called Montagh. Opening things up is the mighty mighty Mildred.
