Tonight at Black Sheep: Ben Dipper, Blind Social, Spooky Action, Opposite Good

Hey! It’s been a minute since we’ve seen a show at Black Sheep due to no shows happening last weekend but we are back at it tonight with the first show of a three day streak we have coming up! This show features ambient / indiepop artist Ben Dipper from Kansas. Stream some of Ben’s music on the player below. We also have local groove rock band Blind Social on board, who we haven’t seen at Black Sheep for a minute. Other opener includes the ambient solo act “Opposite Good,” and then we are kicking things off with a performance by the band Spooky Action, who we have not seen in a minute.

Tonight at Black Sheep: The F.U.F.S., Livin’ Thing, Prowess

Wow, what’s up we do have a three band punk show happening tonight that has experienced many lineup changes since the show was first thought up, but here we are and we are going to have fun tonight! Tonight we have the supergroup Chicago / Oklahoma City hybrid band “The F.U.F.S” performing at Black Sheep. You can check out a brand new tape of theirs streaming on the player embedded below. We also have Springfield band of nobodies playing a set of their own original material, Livin’ Thing. Then we hear that we get to enjoy a special (maybe acoustic) set from Prowess (formerly Nagasaki).

Tonight at Black Sheep: Doxx, Pryss, Dream Probe, Nervous Wreck, Prowess

Tonight! Yes, we have a punk show going on at Black Sheep! We don’t even think we ever officially announced this one on our site. For this show tonight we have another punk band yet again coming to perform from outside the United States. That is the band Doxx from Canada. Check out some of their music streaming on the player below. Other than that this show is sure to be a hit because we have Springfield heavy hitter band Pryss on board also playing. Before that is a brand new Champaign/Urbana punk band Dream Probe (who are also playing Dumb Fe5t). Also on board is Nervous Wreck from Chicago. Opening things up is local act “Prowess” formerly known as Nagasaki. This will be their first gig with the new name.

Tonight at Black Sheep: Tang, Letters from The Schumann Resonance, End Times Trio, Timothy Russell, P.I.N.T.

Yes, we do have a show happening at Black Sheep tonight! Join us for a night of noise, ambience, jazz, and other stuff. Tonight we have 5 projects performing all local to Springfield. This includes the wild and noisy avant guard act T.A.N.G. who we have not seen performing at Black Sheep in a minute. Also a few ambient acts, including the debut of a project with the long name of “Letters from the Schumann Resonance.” Timothy Donavan Russell will be bringing the ambience to The Black Sheep stage as well- Timothy actually just came out with a new album called “Biosphere” that you can check out right here. We’ll have a separate post for that shortly. It’s also been a minute, but End Times Trio will be performing at that one. End Times Trio is the free jazz project featuring professor Richard Gilman-Opalsky who gave a talk and book release at Black Sheep at the start of this year. Looks like things for this one will be opening up with Pretend I’m Not There who’s music you can stream on the player below.

Hey check it out! Tonight we are having a show inside Black Sheep. Tonight we have Charlotte Berg– indie pop singer and songwriter from Nashville, Tennessee coming to Black Sheep to perform for this one. Then we have supporting local act and alternative rock band Stereo Static also on the bill. Since we’ve announced the show two acts have been added. That includes “Stick People” formerly known as Stems, playing their first gig on the Black Sheep stage with the new name. Also Marble Teeth from Decatur, Illinois will be joining us as well.

Tonight at Black Sheep: Futuro (Brazil), Livin’ Thing, Spell Breaker, Weeping Iniquity

Tonight is a Monday night and we have a special treat of a show happening! We have the band Futuro coming all the way in from São Paulo, Brazil! Check out some of their music streaming below. Tonight is their last date of their US tour, and we could not be more excited to have them. They also made it to the cover of Maximum Rocknroll for the month of April! Also playing this show is rock n’ roll all stars Livin’ Thing. Then we have the first ever performance of a brand new Springfield band called “Spell Breaker”- featuring Clare Frachey (who’s also got a birthday going on today). We don’t know what they are going to sound like, but we do know that the band features members of the bands SAP and Lincoln’s Tomb. Neat! Opening things up is the industrial darkwave sounds of Weeping Iniquity. Weeping Iniquity will also be releasing a tape at this show!

Tonight at Black Sheep: “Koolin’ With The Krew”

Tonight is the only show we have going on at Black Sheep this weekend until Futuro from Brazil comes to our venue next Monday. Tonight it’s a hip hop show! Check it out. This show is being called “Koolin’ With Da Krew” and features Springfield’s very own “Kool Krew” performing as one of the acts. We are only given two other acts right now. That includes “Tune Venswella” from right here in Springfield and also Nick Da Rula also from here. More acts will be performing as well.

This show will be starting shortly after 8:00 pm. Tickets for this one are $2 in advance and $3 at the door. For advance tickets if you want to save that extra buck, hunt down one of the performing artists or check out that number on the flier above! No facebook event for this one, sorry! Tonight at Black Sheep: Welcome Home, Avoid, Unamused Dave, Shoot The Messenger, Gadget

Tonight we have a five band show going on at Black Sheep. It is the weather is beautiful outside and our outdoor courtyard is looking NICE. What a perfect spring show for a spring day. The lineup for this one has slightly changed since we originally announced the show. Welcome Home from St. Louis will still be playing, and you can stream their music on the player below. We also have the band “avoid.” with a not-capitalized “A” and a period at the end of their name also on tour from Cedar Valley, Iowa. They are also on tour. Before all that we have Unamused Dave from Germantown Hills, Illinois (is that by Peoria)? Also “Shoot The Messenger” which is a newer band from Decatur. Looks like things are going to open up with Gadget from Decatur.

Electronic Show Tonight at Black Sheep: Hippie Squishers, Vanilla Gorilla, Hood E. Klimate, Kabass

Ready to try some new things out tonight? It’s a beautiful day today and we are having an electronic show at Black Sheep! Tonight there are four acts lined up on the bill from around the area. At the top of the poster is “Hippie Squishers” from Peoria, Illinois. You can check out some of their music on the player embedded below. Then over from Decatur, Illinois we have “Vanilla Gorilla” who will be “DJing some of the freshest beats.” Before that is Hood E. Klimate, who also runs “Killinoize Productions”. Then from Springfield and possibly first up is “Kabass” who will probably bringing some of that bass.

Tonight at Black Shep: Sinai Vessel, Bottom Bracket, Household, Austin McCuten, Gadget

It’s a Tuesday and we do have a show going on at Black Sheep tonight! Be sure to come out tonight to see the band Sinai Vessel returning from Tennessee. Last time the band came through was actually a little over two years ago and they played with Looming. Check out their newest album which came out earlier this year on the player below. Also on this show we have Springfield studio-pros in the band Bottom Bracket. We had a neat time seeing them at Cafe Andiamo a week ago. Turns out they are the only Springfield act on this show too, wow. The other big touring band on the bill is Household from Minnesota. They played here last in February of 2015. Before that we have a solo performance by Austin McCuten from St. Louis of the band Choir Vandals. Then opening things up is Gadget from Decatur.
