On Friday, May 24th we have a jam-packed show that will be a perfect close for the school year for a lot of you students. This show will feature a wide range of genres from pop-punk to rock, from garage to punk. Headlining the bill we have Springfield’s pop-punk group Kickstart for fans of New Found Glory and Blink-182. Before them we have a newer Chicago band called An Unfortunate Woman. They feature members of the bands Suns and Big Science. In the middle of things we have another Chicago band called The Howl. You can find them pictured above and their music on a player below. Then we have Champaign post-punk band Terminus Vector. We welcome them as they will be playing their first show at Black Sheep. To top off the bill we have Sammy & The Punk opening things up. They are a fun two-piece rock band from Springfield.

We have a fun addition to a show that is happening later this month on Monday, May 20th. We announced the show earlier to include False Light, Emperor Norton, Dusty Fingers, Kaworu, and a new Springfield noise project called Aporia. Today we bring you news that Bubblegum Octopus from Verona, New Jersey will also be playing the show! Exciting stuff! This show will mark Bubblegum Octopus’s third time playing at Black Sheep- the last being in October of 2012. You can check out some tunes from Bubblegum Octopus below!

We have a show coming up on May 29th to tell you all about. It will be another Wednesday night Big Storm show at The Black Sheep! We love Wednesday night Big Storm shows. This show will feature stringsy melodic folk rockers Idly from Austin, Texas. You can stream some of their music below. The show will also feature the heavy rock two-piece Yogi Beara (who have yet to set up their Black Sheep band page). And did we mention that Big Storm is playing?! Keep an eye and ear out for another band to be announced.

Tonight it’s a show! There is a show tonight! It’s Wednesday! Tonight we will be having the band Mutts from Chicago, Illinois. They will be playing at Black Sheep as a part of their unplugged tour. Then we have big local rock band Big Storm featuring Brandon Carnes. The other out of town band playing the show is Payphones from St. Louis. They play experimental rock. And opening things up we have the video-game themed band from Springfield Like… With Jetpacks! Hopefully they will be playing some of our favorite video game tunes and a few originals!

If you are in town for May 18th then you are surely in for a treat! We will be hosting another acoustic/folk show with some great acoustic acts. We have Kirk Donely of Springfield rock n’ roll band The Transatlantic playing some acoustic tunes for us all. Then we have Real Live Tigers traveling from Austin, Texas. Real Live Tigers plays country influenced type folk, and is usually a single-piece act but at this show he will be joined by Julie Byrne. The two will be either performing together or doing a split set, it will be a surprise! You can check out some music from Real Live Tigers on the bandcamp player below. Also on the show is another acoustic act- Dan Marissa! Dan is from somewhere outside of Springfield. Opening things up for this show we have Tim Williams of Our Lady. Our Lady will be back from tour at this point.

There is a show tonight at Black Sheep! It’s going to be a pretty great rock show. Are you a fan of 90s rock? Then this is the show for you.This show will feature the Chicago Hüsker Dü-influenced All Eyes West. Then we have Springfield local “dad-rock” band Nephrons. Then from Bloomington, Illinois will be Werepire Day, playing some 90′s rock. Opening things up we have the newer and younger heavy rock band Yogi Beara. All of that on one show is sure to be a treat.

On Friday, May 10th we have this show for this bizarre show flier going on. It is sure to be a weird time. All the bands playing are local to Springfield! Come out and support some of our own local bands. Headlining the bill is acoustic folk-punk act Lovecow, who have played a few of the past spring shows at Black Sheep and have also recently released a new EP. Next we have the three (and sometimes two) piece band Mildred. Then the newer rock band from Springfield Naughtalus will take the stage. Before them is the acoustic duo, Montagh and opening things up is Springfield’s newest punk band, RDNT.
