Tonight at Black Sheep: Cooshit SuperDuperDopeDank Show

Tonight, we have ourselves some special people coming around to bring us some jivvy jams. This fine evening is going to start out with everyone’s least favourite metalcore band Scott Blacula. In their words, “Less silence more violence!” Their music is garbage, but that’s all the more reason to come out and hear it! Get ready to mosh! Habilis Riccardo is going to grace us with a performance as well. It’s going to be real. If you want to know what it is, come find out! We’re going to have plenty of suprises waiting for us and all these folks are definitely going to be worth hearing. Sir Riccardo will be leading into some hip-hop jams by none other than CooShit, the fluid rhyme master. He’s got some fine beats for us, so look forward to grooving to this SuperDuperDankShow! Not only is there going to be a great show, there’s going to be some other stuff going on such as a free shirt giveaway, free candy and a cooking contest! That sounds pretty rad so make sure to come out and check this all out because tonight’s gonna be tight.

Tonight at Black Sheep: Wringer, Nephrons, Hospital Job, Kirk Donley

Hey all you fine folks, check out this show tonight to expericence the finest, most heart-warming side of pop-punk you’ll encounter within a 50 mile radius! Allow us to enlighten you. We’ll have Wringer to give us some wholesome, catchy pop-punk tunes. This fine trio is from Bloomington, IN and will be on tour until the end of September. They understand the ethics of a DIY scene, so come out to the show and support them while they’re on tour! We’ll also be featuring the local lovelies who call themselves Nephrons. They put out a new album just recently called Black Bedroom. Go ahead and give them a listen! Their pop-punk music has an alternative, grungy spin to it so look forward to hearing them live– they are sure to play plenty of hits! Hey hey hey, Hospital Job is playing! They’ve returned home to us and are back from tour. You know what else? They’re going to grace us with their upbeat tunes that just make you feel good inside, so look forward to them too. The last set we’ll be featuring tonight holds the clear, acoustic sounds of Sir Kirk Donely. Listening to him will be like taking a breath of fresh air, so make sure to give him a good listen and take in a good deep breath while you’re at it. People don’t take deep breaths enough, I’ll tell you what.

Tonight at Black Sheep: Naughtalus, Flamingo, 64 squares, Haircut Actual

Hey everyone, tonight’s show is definitely going to be enjoyable. Here’s what we got! On this show we have Naughtalus, which is a moody and rhythmic experimental band rooted right here in Springfield. We will also have the pleasure of welcoming Jacksonville based band Flamingo. When they play their psychedelic trippy folk rock, their main goal is to “soothe the soul of the hardworking and emotionally exhausted human being”, according to their band page. We could all use a little of that so look forward to them! Another band we will have the pleasure of featuring here tonight at Black Sheep is 64 Squares. These folks will be sure to give us an awesomely raw and emotional performance through their gazey, artsy punk jams. Last but not least! Black Sheep’s 2013 Battle of the Bands participant Haircut Actual will be performing for us tonight. Coming from Mt. Pulaski, they have some alternative rock tunes for us to enjoy so stick around my good friends, cause this show is gonna have the perfect combination of music to make your hearts SING!

Tonight At Black Sheep: Soap Scum/ Cross Me/ Wolf Luv/ IAMIAM/ Gazeebo

Soap Scum is a local group of street rats straight from the sewers, as well as your worst cleaning nightmare! They have many dirty hard-punk tunes to offer, so get ready to get grimy! Next on the list is Cross Me, coming from Milwaukee. This hardcore band has some thrashy jams with a good beat so look forward to hearing those folks! Following them is Champaign based punk band Wolf Luv, which is where that live wolf comes in that I mentioned earlier.

Fear not, ladies and gents and its, it won’t bite too hard!

To end the show, we have two noise sets. First off is IAMIAM, the work of Austin Connelly, also in Montaugh and Wir Konnen. His noise set is super raw with hints of nostalgia so stick around for him and also for Gazeebo, the next noise set! Gazeebo features Drew Kodrich who, through this set, will introduce us to some aspects of brutality at it’s finest.

Tonight at Black Sheep: They Eat Their Own God, Discourage, Scott Blacula, Gutterpriest, Goliath

We are ending the streak with a brutal and heavy show filled with noise, hardcore, metal, and punk. Tonight’s show features They Eat Their Own God from South Carolina. You can stream some of their songs on the player embedded below. Also from South Carolina and on tour with They Eat Their Own God is Discourage. They play a melodic style of crust punk. Right in the middle of the lineup is the mighty Scott Blacula who will be taking on any band that gets in their way. Before them is the Springfield noisecore project Gutterpriest. Before that and opening things up will be Goliath playing post-metal from Pekin, Illinois.

Tonight at Black Sheep: Mildred, The Greek Favourites, IAMIAM

Who are those three bands? Well most of the lineup on the flier up there ^^ is wrong. Sorry. We DO have Mildred playing the show tonight. Come catch the three-piece slow punk/emo play their first show since Black Sheep Fest. We also still have Pennsylvania indie/post-punk band The Greek Favourites! They played Black Sheep a couple of years ago and they are GREAT. Stream a few of their songs below. Opening up the show we now have the debut of a new Springfield noise project called “IAMIAM” which features Austin Connelly of Wir Können and Montagh.

Tonight at Black Sheep: Dead North, Meredosia, State Lines, No Good News, War Magic

1072290_10201928281315677_314692266_oTonight we continue our streak of four shows four nights in a row with this really good pop-punk/mixed genre show. There are some great bands playing tonight! We have the pop-punk band Dead North coming from Columbus, Ohio. You should check out some of their music on the player below! Then we have the newer local post-rock band Meredosia. The band features members of Dream Eater, Mildred, and Soap Scum. Let’s see what we have for other touring bands! We have State Lines from New York, who played at Black Sheep last back in January for a last minute show we had with Run, Forever! With State Lines also from New York is No Good News, playing some catchy pop-punk. Also on the show and opening things up is the debut of a brand new Springfield band called War Magic! War Magic features Alistair Reynolds of Harm House Record of the Night fame as well as a  few others.

Tonight at Black Sheep: Sleeping Cranes, Jess Knight, Mr. Chandler, Atlast At His Finest, Wir Konnen

Ladies and blokes, we are going to have a loaded show tonight and it’s going to be TASTY! The Sleeping Cranes, composed of A.J Ward, is an awesome indie folk band rooted in Wyoming. A.J’s main influence is living, which is something we can all relate to so look forward to hearing some full hearted tunes from him! Following The Sleeping Cranes will be the lovely, local Jess Knight, performing some acoustic tunes for our listening pleasure. Jess is currently the bassist of Mother Leopard and has a new project called Looming. Her voice is as clear as a songbirds so I’m sure she will be a pleasure as always. As for Mr. Chandler, he makes music that he hopes makes people love life. And guess what?! He’s local! He’ll be dishing out some rap stylings for us, so look forward to it! There’s another local band called Atlas At His Finest, who produces some alternative jams. They are starting to show their face more and more so check them out and get to know the guys, they’re pretty cool. Last but not least! An emo band has emerged called Wir Konnen. They have members from the local catchy bands Montagh and Lovecow, so make sure to stay and give them a listen.

Tonight at Black Sheep: Pound For Pound, Primitive Man, Reproacher, Scott Blacula, Aporia

1001156_522750767773739_644289418_nThere is a pretty big metal/hardcore/noise show going on at Black Sheep tonight! This show features all kinds of heavy music, so we know it is going to be great. This show features long-running hardcore band Pound For Pound. The show is a celebration of Pound For Pound’s fourteen years as a band, but it is also sadly their second to last show as they announced their breakup last month. On to the touring bands! We have Primitive Man playing “blackened doom” from Denver, Colorado. Also on tour with Primitive Man is Reproacher from Cheyenne, Wyoming. They play a “pissed off/sludgy” hardcore. Next up we have the ultimate villains of the Springfield music scene, Scott Blacula. Who will they be battling out this time? Opening up the whole show is Aporia, the newer Springfield harsh noise project from Jeff Brown of And God Said Dance.

Tonight at Black Sheep: Kowabunga! Kid, Lovecow, Wir Konnen, Douglass

It’s gonna be an awesome show tonight! Here’s what we got! Kowabunga! Kid is an awesome, hot, indie poppish band from Champaign and they will be giving us some enjoyable tunes. Lovecow is our favorite, local, endearing folk punk band so we’ll be hearing some jams from them. Wir Konnen is a newcoming band that we will have the pleasure of hearing for the first time. Word is they have an emo vibe going on and will feature some members from Lovecow, Montagh and more! This won’t be the only first show tonight. Douglass, composed of the lovely Tara Lynne Tracy, will grace our ears with some experimental, emotional folk. Apparently there will also be an acoustic suprise! Hopefully it’s not as gruesome as the mystery meat suprise featured in every middle school lunchline ever.
