Tonight at Black Sheep: Mystery Gift, WARRS, Milchjunge, Say Something, Southern Roots

The weekend is here and there is a great all-local show happening at Black Sheep tonight featuring all sorts of different bands of all different shapes and sizes! This show will feature the return of Mystery Gift, who have not played a show here since October! Come out tonight and welcome them back. Also playing is one of Springfield’s newer chaotic hardcore bands, WARRS. WARRS features members of Loses The Mighty and Soap Scum. Up before them is the all-German punk band Milchjunge. Although we don’t want it to be true, we have been told this may be Milchjunge’s last show. Better make sure you are there to see them either way! Also on the show is Say Something, who have also not played a Black Sheep show in a while. If you forgot what Say Something sounded like, you can listen to them on the player below. First up we have a performance by a brand new Springfield band called Southern Roots. Come early to find out what they are all about.

Screaming Females, Shellshag, Looming, Kowabunga! Kid at Black Sheep One Month Away

The Black Sheep Cafe has a big show coming up here in just one month, and that is the one featuring Screaming Females from New Brunswick, New Jersey on Wednesday March 25th, exactly one month from today. Would you look at that, there are even going to be screen printed posters available at the show (shown above)! The full show lineup includes bands Screaming Females, Shellshag, Looming, and Kowabunga! Kid.

Screaming Females also released their brand new album, Rose Mountain yesterday out on Don Giovanni Records. You can go here and stream the entire thing. Also check out a new music video for the song “Hopeless” off of that album embedded below.

Tickets for the March 25th show at Black Sheep are still being sold in advance for $10. You can find them online right here, or also purchase them at Dumb Records during store hours for the same price. Tickets will be $12 at the door the day of the show. Tonight at Black Sheep we have the punkest of shows, coming at you fast on a Monday night. Come out and slam all of your Monday night blues away. Tonight we have the Springfield hardcore band that knows how to rock, Asthma. We also have the return of Cruelster– a band that played day 1 of Dumb Fest 2 back in June. You can stream some of Cruelster’s music on the player below. We also have the band Safety Word coming from Chicago, featuring members of Lord Snow and Sick Sad World. Opening things up is a special performance by the one-man black metal project that came out of our band lotto show back in August called “Sargent Karate.”

Tonight at Black Sheep: The Timmys, The Haddonfields, Estates, The Rackatees, Diaper Rash

Tonight at Black Sheep we have a five-band mixed genre type show that is sure to be a wild one. Tonight features Springfield long running punk rock band The Timmys. The show also features The Haddonfields from St. Louis, who are no strangers to playing at Black Sheep. You can check out some of The Haddonfields’s music streaming below. Tonight will also feature the return of Milwaukee’s Estates, who played at Black Sheep this past summer after releasing a split 7″ with Springfield band Our Lady. We also have the return of The Rackatees from Iowa, who last played at Black Sheep in the fall of 2013. Opening things up is the wild and fierce baby band- Diaper Rash. Diaper Rash released Demo 4: Eat, Shit, And Cry online yesterday.

Tonight at Black Sheep we have a short and sweet three-band show. The band Broken Prayer had to drop tonight’s show sadly, but we are continuing onward with the three bands we still have. Tonight we have the shoegze/synth band Military Police coming from Chicago. You can stream the band’s music below. We also have the band SAP– who recently released their eight-song cassette Maiden, Mother, Crone on Ooey Gooey Tapes earlier this year. Opening things up will be the first ever live performance by Night/Hex, which will surely be something not to miss.

Tonight at Black Sheep: Valentine’s Ska Formal with Bad Banshee, Must Build Jacuzzi, The Runner Ups

Happy Valentine’s Day from your friends at Black Sheep! Tonight we have something special going on. We are hosting a Valentine’s Day “ska formal” show featuring three very talented and catchy ska bands! This includes Springfield’s own ska band Bad Banshee! Be on the lookout for a special set from them featuring all seven members of the band. Up next before Bad Banshee are The Runner Ups! They Runner Ups are another seven-piece band from the Chicago area. They will sure to have you skankin’ in the pit. Opening things up and the third band we have on tonight’s show is Must Build Jacuzzi from Peoria. Must Build Jacuzzi are no strangers to Black Sheep- they have played here a few times before. Tonight at Black Sheep: Until We Are Ghosts, Household, Loses The Mighty, Krelboyne, Hope For Now

It’s a Wednesday night and we have a super stacked show happening at Black Sheep tonight for you all. Come out tonight and enjoy some melodic hardcore and a bit of post rock. Tonight we have the melodic hardcore band called Until We Are Ghosts coming from Rochester, New York. You can stream some of their music on the player embedded below. Until We Are Ghosts are on tour with the Minneapolis, Minnesota hardcore band Household. Be sure to catch both of those touring acts. We also have a few local and nearby bands. We have Loses The Mighty on the bill- the Central Illinois post hardcore band. We also have the Champaign/Urbana emo/post hardcore/experimental band Krelboyne, who have already played at Black Sheep a number of times this year. Opening things up we have a post hardcore band from Morton, Illinois called Hope For Now.

Tonight at Black Sheep: Hospital Job, Drilling For Blasting, Closed Mouths, Bullnettle

Looks like there is a show happening at Black Sheep tonight, and if you are a fan of good music, then this show is for you! Tonight we have Springfield’s very own pop punk group Hospital Job with another hand full of other great bands from Chicago and Champaign/Urbana. The first of those is a band called Drilling For Blasting. To find out what that band sounds like, you can stream their music on the player embedded below. Also on this show is a band called Closed Mouths from Chicago. And the one Champaign/Urbana act we have is the two-piece band Bullettle!

Tonight at Black Sheep: “Crown The King” Hip Hop Show

Check it out, tonight there is a hip hop show happening at Black Sheep and everyone is invited. Our opening acts include three great solo performers and rap groups including D. Carr, Jayy Willis, and HISO Music Entertainment. Then we have a grand total of four rap battles (wow). If you were around for the last hip hop show with rap battles (the last one had two), you know how crazy things can get. The battles include Relentless vs. Boss Maseiano, Cerius Bars vs. Deezy Alfamega, Tello vs. Savage, and Southside vs. Twitch.

All of that is going to be kicking off right around 7:00, with doors opening then and the show starting sometime between then and 8:00. Admission is $5. Also check out our shows page for a look at what else is coming up at Southtown this year.

Tonight at Black Sheep: Bad Banshee, Arugula, Wolf Luv, Acid Cop

There is another show happening at Black Sheep tonight, and this is show number two out of three shows that are happening this weekend (The Copyrights, Timmys, and King Worm show last night was great). For this show we have local ska-punk maniacs, Bad Banshee! Bad Banshee was your #1 pick for release of the 2014 with their CD Skitter/Skitter, so make sure to come out and skank away for their set. This show also features touring act Arugula from Chicago, featuring members of the band Sputter that played here in the fall. You can stream some of Arugula’s music below. This show also marks the return of the vicious Wolf Luv from Champaign/Urbana, playing their first show here since Dumb Fest 2. Opening things up we have a first ever performance by a new Springfield punk band called Acid Cop. Who is in Acid Cop? Make sure to come to the show early and find out.
