We do have a show going on at Black Sheep tonight! It’s our only show this weekend and it’s going to be a short one. Tonight we have the band MOM coming from St. Louis which features members of past bands The Stranger and more. You can stream some of MOM’s music on the player below. We have Springfield punks’ punk band Prowess playing this one as well. Opening things up is the return of Central Illinois – based Magma Diver who recently released their own debut tape. Good job!

Good morning! Today is the day before Thanksgiving so tonight’s going to be a good night to get out an do something. We have a classic B.J. Pearce designed flier up there with a lineup that’s slightly changed so we will break it down for you. Everyone knows hometown emo rock group, Bottom Bracket, right? They will be playing this show. The touring band on this bill is Charmer from Marquette, Michigan. You can stream their newest release on the player below to hear what they are all about. Up before them is one of the winners of our Black Sheep Battle of the Bands last month and based out of Springfield High School – Rockford. We also have a newer and younger group called Telephone Junkies that made their Black Sheep debut about a week ago. Opening things up for this one is Kate Laine.

Last night was an incredible Black Sheep Band Lotto and we would like to thank all of the bands that participated and everyone for coming out. We are going to keep things rolling with a very eventful show going on tonight at Black Sheep! Tonight is the 7″ record release show for local rockers Livin’ Thing. Stream one of the songs off of that 7″ coming out on Rat King Records on the player below. Tonight is also the return of Houston, Texas hardcore band Substance – who played in Springfield last for Dumb Fest #5 this past June. Up before them is Spell Breaker – it is supposed to be a release show of some sort for them as well. Opening things up is Undone – and we so here it’s supposed to be the band’s last show – how sad!

Happy Wednesday everyone, we DO have a show happening at Black Sheep tonight (even though this is one we hadn’t announced earlier on our site, sorry!) Tonight we have a couple of touring acts from California! At the top of the bill is Taylorville band Stick People, who released their hit CD, Lips, earlier this fall. Then one of the touring bands from Corona, California is “Casual Friday.” Stream their music on the player below to find out what they’re all about. Casual Friday is on tour with fuzzy pop band Iris Jupiter who will be performing tonight as well. Opening things up we believe is Bottom Bracket from right here in Springfield.

Tonight is a very special night. Tonight will feature a show unlike any other show before at Black Sheep. That is because this show, is not for us humans. It is for the plants. That’s right, music for plants. A concert for plants. Plants. Tonight we have Brendan Wells Plant Music coming from Minneapolis, Minnesota. What is that? It is music for plants. Have a listen on the player below. We also have hip hop project “Plants with Human Names“, formerly “Animals with Human Names”. Emasculate Regression is also performing a special farm sounds set for this show. Before that is solo project of Clare Frachey, “Rella.” And opening things up we have Brian Galecki goofing off on the omnichord.

This show will start at 7:00 pm. Here is the big kicker – the show is $7, BUT if you bring your own *living* plant, the show is $3. So bring your plants! Can you believe it, we have finally made it to this mega-huge show going on at Black Sheep tonight. This will be one to remember. Tonight we have Looming‘s big album release for their second full length album “Seed” – and also the return of SCREAMING FEMALES from New Brunswick, New Jersey since their spectacular appearance at Black Sheep in the Spring of 2015. Check out music from Screaming Females on the player below. You can stream Looming’s new album, Seed in its entirety right here. This time around Screaming Females will be on tour with the band Street Eaters from Berkley, California. Then Looming have their friends in Choir Vandals in town to open up the show. Choir Vandals also performed at the Looming album release show for Nailbiter along with Park at Black Sheep two years ago.

This will be a very big show. Come early so you can find parking, etc. If you did not get a ticket in advance, it is $15 at the door. The first band goes on tonight at 6:30 pm. Were there some of you saying that you wish there were more metal shows at Black Sheep? Well, tonight is your chance to come out and experience that, because we have a Saturday night metal show going on! This one features the St. Louis-based band Hallow Point. Check out what they’re all about on the youtube player embedded below. We also have the local metalcore group Eyes From Above lined up. Before that is Central-Illinois based newer metal band Kryosis. And up before them is the terrifying “Robot Army” from Jacksonville, Illinois.

We have a pretty busy weekend lined up at Black Sheep! That includes a big free show tonight, a metal show tomorrow, and then a mega huge show later on Monday. Tonight we are opening our doors to absolutely everyone for a free show – you have no excuse not to come out! Unless of course you are checking out live music over at The Radon Lounge, who also have a show going on. Tonight’s lineup has shifted a little bit since it was first announced. We have five acts lined up tonight, which includes the smashing hardcore rock n’ roll outfit band Livin’ Thing, which you can stream on the player below. Bottom Bracket was also added last minute as a replacement to Capitol Offense who will no longer be playing. Old Fox Road from Champaign/Urbana however is still on board. So is new Springfield solo project “Water Tower, Water Terror.” Opening things up right at 7:00 pm we have a solo performer in town new to the Black Sheep stage called “Arvo!” Come check it out!

We just have one event happening this weekend at Black Sheep – and that is this show featuring Brandon Austin, solo R&B performer tonight. This is still Brandon’s release show as far as we know – Brandon is releasing a CD called “Beauty in Ordinary Things” which is already out on iTunes and all of that good stuff. Brandon also released a music video for one of the songs off of the CD – “Lost And Found” yesterday, which you can check out right here. One of the other artists opening up the show is “HILGY” also from here (?). Then we also have Jermaine Bollinger opening things up.

It’s been a bit of a break for us for shows at Black Sheep, but we are ready to come back strong starting tonight! Tonight is the only show we have going on this weekend, but it should be a good one! This one will be the return of weirdo punk band Violence Creeps from Oakland, California to our space for the first time since the spring of last year in 2016. Check out some new material that they have released since then streaming on the player below. Then also joining them as they did last time is Livin’ Thing – the incredible stretch-suit rubber band. We also have a rare Black Sheep performance by the band Boon – they have also released some new material since they last played here. Opening things up is Spell Breaker – another Springfield band with their own special sound.
