WUIS: “Art Beat” With Scott Faingold And Rachel Otwell

Today Springfield radio station WUIS based on the campus of the University of Springfield is launching a new weekly segment called “Art Beat.” The segment is of Scott Faingold (The Illinois Times, Epsom) and Rachel Otwell (WUIS) going over music and art events that are happening around town in the upcoming weekend. From the WUIS website:

With my focus also being on the arts world here in Springfield, and Illinois – we’ll tell listeners about our favorite things to check out in the area. We’ll be learning about new artists and musicians right along with you.

You can check out the very first segment streaming on the WUIS site right here. In the segment the two touch up on a good handful of events coming up in Springfield this weekend, including the big Dumb Records one year anniversary show happening tomorrow. Today the Black Sheep Radio Show will be airing at its normal time of 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm, and it will be a very special episode. First off, the radio show will be hitting it’s two-year anniversary episode, which started at the very beginning of 2013. Second, this is a special episode because our hosts Brandon Carnes and Mike Tirehaus will be taking us on a wild ride going through all of the results of our recent best of Springfield Music 2014 poll. This means they will be playing all of the songs from your top voted shows, albums, and songs of this year.

On this week’s episode we have a special guest and that is Vincent-Tennell– host of the public access show “The Vincent-Tennell Show.” Vincent-Tennell recently featured some representatives for Dumb Records (above) on his show, which will air later in January. We get the chance to talk to Vincent about his show among plenty of other things.

Today On Black Sheep Radio: The Thomas Nicholas Band

Today is another episode of The Black Sheep Radio, and we have some special guests touring through and stopping in. Today we have all four members of the Thomas Nicholas Band from Los Angeles and Nashville. They are currently on tour and will be playing here in Springfield at Lucid on Saturday (tomorrow), November 22nd along with The Sun And The Sea and Matthew Kennedy. The band features a former member of old Springfield band The Junior VarsityThomas Nicholas is also an actor who played roles in popular films Rookie of the Year and American Pie. We will be talking to the band about their travels, and possibly a big plan for a music video involving Southtown.

Hundreds of families will be gathering around their living room radios with glasses of lemonade and tuning in to our radio program. Today on The Black Sheep Radio Show we have Josh Catalano of Josh Catalano & The Dirty Thoughts (pictured above). He will be here on behalf of Downhome Music Festival happening downtown this weekend both tonight and tomorrow.
