Today we bring you a new four-song EP from a new Springfield project that we know absolutely nothing about. We don’t know who is in this, where it came from, if it’s going to ever play any live shows or release more music, or what. The project is called “Tilt Shift” and this Game Over EP mysteriously surfaced as a link deep and hidden in the Springfield Underground Pinball and Music forum. You can check it out streaming on the player embedded below. Also head on over to the Tilt Shift bandcamp page where you can download the music at your own price. From the Tilt Shift bandcamp page:
Tilt Warning’s debut release, Game Over EP, is a collection of b-sides written and recorded in 2020. Are we the first band ever to debut with just b-sides? Probably. But these songs didn’t have a future planned and the pandemic put a hold on future plans, so we wanted to share these songs with you in the meantime. Enjoy!
We have added this one on to our Springfield album archive page as well.
Long running local hip hop artist Cornbread has hit us with a brand new song a couple of days ago called “Remember.” It features other local artists Beenie Blanco and Meezy Killafield. Check out the song embedded on the youtube player below.
Check out more of Cornbread’s music on his bandcamp page right here. Also don’t forget to check out 217hiphop.com for more local hip hop news.
Let the fun begin!!! Yesterday we officially kicked off our first ever Official Downtown Springfield Businesses Pinball Tournament here at Dumb Records. Pictured above are our first two contenders, representing businesses Prairie Archives and Public Market setting each of their high scores. Right now we have a nice round number of 32 businesses participating, but we are open to more joining during this first round. The tournament is a single-elimination style tournament with multiple rounds, and each round featuring a different game in our arcade. This first round features the game Medieval Madness and goes from now until September 6th. Businesses have until then to come in or send employee representatives over to set their high scores.
We will report back with the results for the final round on this site, and also give daily updates over on our facebook page. The winner gets a trophy.
Attic Salt are doing it big time with their new album Get Wise coming out next month. This week they debuted the first hit single from that new album via Brooklyn Vegan. You can check out that full article about them and with a stream to the song and video right here. We’ve also embedded the youtube video below. The song is called “Mud.” From the article:
“Mud” is actually the last song that came together right before we went into the studio to record Get Wise. Written by Alyssa Currie during a downpour, the song really came together during recording. Being such a new song, and all of us recording separately, it became an instant favorite of ours once it was finished.
Get Wise is out September 25th via Jump Start Records, and will be available on vinyl.
Demons on Wheels, one of the numerous recording projects of Mark Schwartz, has released a brand new track “Activator Magazine” from a recording video session featured on… Activator Magazine. You can find that track on the player below. Head on over to the Demons on Wheels bandcamp page to purchase the download of the song.
Also check out that full video interview segment with Mark put together by Activator and Crowdson Creative on youtube right here. Mark also released a full album, Still Standing, under the Demons on Wheels recording project earlier this year.
Jacksonville, Illinois-based psychedelic project The Dixie Narcos are at it again with a brand new song and video for “Time Girl And The Unknown.” You can check that out on the player embedded below. The band has also been posting clips on their facebook page from upcoming songs for a new album they are working on entitled Nantucket 3. From the youtube description it seems like this song might be for another project: “This song is for Time Girl Productions upcoming animated/live action show. This is a work in progress.”
The Dixie Narcos have put out a lot of albums, there are ten of them listed on their spotify page.
Activator Magazine is continuing their teaming up with Crowdson Creative as part of their ongoing video series, usually featuring local musical acts which are also featured on the magazine’s cover for the month. This time around Mark Schwartz is featured in the video series. Mark is a recording artist in town with multiple recording project names that he is constantly releasing new music under. Mark sits down with the Activator team and describes the differences in each project and also shows his studio setup along with some wacky instruments and what his creative process is like. Check out that video below!
