The headline is pretty much it folks! “Mansion Musicfest” taking place at “The Mansion” just outside of Virden, Illinois some 30-40 minutes away from Springfield is happening once again, for a second year for two days coming up on May 30th and 31st. There are no music acts being announced for the festival right now, but we will be sure to let you know when those announcements come. The festival debuted during a rainy weekend last year, but seemed to go over successfully. There have also been a few other events at The Mansion including “Hallowicked” this past October.
Early bird tickets for Mansion Musicfest go on sale coming up soon on March 6th. You can follow the Mansion Musicfest facebook page for more info on that once it is released!
Things are warming up outside and we are starting to get real busy with all of the shows we have going on. Tonight is another one presented by The Radon Lounge and Baristie Boys’ Coffee (or something like that). This show features out of town St. Louis indie-pop act, Golden Curls. You can stream their newest album on the player below. We also have the return of Derrick Streibig – from the band “We Are Warm” based out of the Girard, Illinois area. Up before that we have Imaginary Colours… performing inside of our new space for the first time? Is that true? We might be mistaken on that, but come out to see it either way. Opening things up is a younger singer/songwriter from Petersburg, Emily Perkins performing at our space for the first time.
This show starts at 7:00 pm and admission is $7. Oh! We almost forgot, there is a featured local artist for this show! The works of Jen Santarelli will be on display inside of our show space! Check out a facebook event for all of that right here. Also be sure to check out our shows page for everything else we have coming up this spring.
Those local hip hop music videos are rolling in at a rate so fast, we are posting one a day here it seems like and still can’t keep up! Today we bring you a new song and video from “City” aka “City FME.” The song is called “Bonkerz” and you can find the video on the player below. This one was shot and directed by Elijah Settles. City released his most recent full length album, Lost In The Music 3 last year.
Be sure to also check out our vids/pics page for an ever growing list of local music videos shot from over the years.
Today we bring you yet another fresh new music video coming from another couple of local hip hop acts. This time it’s “Zach Moad” and “Young Frost”, both of which are a part of collective called “Vision Glory Entertainment” aka VGE. The two performed at our space at one of the hip hop shows we held later last year. Their new song and video is called “Goosebumpz” and you can find it on the youtube player embedded below. Looks like this video was shot by Jay Wills Entertainment, and the new track produced by ShiraziBeats.
Be sure to also check out our vids/pics page for a long list of other local music videos shot over the years.
We have a show to tell you about today that is farrrr into the future, we are talkin’ May 10th here. That’s so far away and practically summer… a little hard for us to imagine right now. But, we have a show, and it looks pretty stacked. The band Pointbreak is coming all the way from Arizona. You can check out some of their music on the player below. Coming with them is The Price Is Right??? No, sorry, that is “Price of Life”… a band that no one knows anything about, no location or music. Then we got some local acts lined up. This includes Capitol Offense from Decatur, who is also playing another show coming up here sooner than May at some point. Also Prevention.. who are definitely playing here sooner than this show. Opening things up is “Cold Realm” a new project from Carbondale!?!
This show starts at 7:00 pm and admission will be $7. Check out a facebook event for the show right here. Also be sure to check out our shows page for a good look at everything else coming up this spring.

The first part of this month has been pretty slow for us as far as shows go over here, but it’s going to really start picking up starting with this Tuesday night show happening tonight! Tonight we have jazz-folk artist Melanie A. Davis coming from the small town of Murray, Kentucky. You can stream her new album which just came out on the player embedded below. Also on this show is Bloomington, IL-based solo artist HECK (aka Hannah Songer) who we have not seen in a minute. Up before that is Ricki Marvel, performing here for the first time since her brand new album, The Prisoner came out earlier last month. Opening things up is Kate Laine (The Kate of Kate the Band).
This show starts at 7:00 pm and admission is a sliding scale of $5 to $7. Find a facebook event for this one right here. Also be sure to check out our shows page to take a peak at what else we’ve got coming up at Bread Stretchers this 2020.
Earlier today we brought you news that the band Star Stuff released their first ever recordings to the world (just live recordings from a festival earlier this summer), now we are here to tell you Star Stuff is our new featured band page of the week. That’s right, you can check out their new page and stream the recordings on that page right here. Star Stuff will be performing next at our space on Thursday, March 12th along with Maddie Razook from Oklahoma.
Check out any of our 40 or so current band pages on our site right here. Do you perform in a local band or are a local original musician that has not yet set up a page with us? Get in touch with us at firstname.lastname@example.org and we will work with you to get something set up!
We don’t usually list out live recordings on our site here, but we figured this one is going to be a rare exception – since at this point we do not have any recordings at all for Springfield rock group Star Stuff, who has been around playing shows in town for a minute! Today we bring you some live recordings that were just released of the band’s performance at Audiofeed Music Festival which took place in Urbana this past summer. You can check out those recordings on the player below, or head over to the newly created Star Stuff bandcamp page where you can download all six tracks at your own price.
Star Stuff’s next show lined up is happening at our space – one that was just recently announced for Thursday, March 12th along with Maddie Razook, Baby Ocho, and Clare Frachey.
Local Springfield rapper Meezy Killafield has unleashed a brand new song and video to the world. The song is called “Gemini Flow” and you can find the song and brand new music video, shot and edited by Twenty One Seven Studios on the player embedded below.
Meezy Killafield released his album, Killafield Kronicles last year. Also check out our vids/pics page for a long list of local music videos from over the years. We are not sure on any live shows that Meezy has lined up at the moment.
