Here we are today to bring you another release from a local artist that has come out already this year in the year 2020. That is Ricki Marvel‘s new album, The Prisoner. You can stream that full album on the bandcamp player below or find it on bandcamp right here where you can also purchase the download. Here is a description of the album from Ricki’s bandcamp page:

This was written and recorded on cassette tape during an 18 month period of time. The goal was to make the process as free as possible. This means no deadline, no pressure, no genre, and definitely no dread. The result is a labor of love. A snapshot of my emotions and self reflection leading up to me realizing I am transgender.

Keep your eyes and ears peeled for any Ricki Marvel shows coming up at our space being announced at some point soon. We are also adding this one on to our Springfield album archive page for the year 2020, it’s our second release for this year!

Yes, it may be eight degrees outside on this Sunday morning and the temperatures will stay pretty low throughout the day, but our store IS open and we DO have a killer show happening tonight! This is the first show being put together by Jeff Black of The Radon Lounge, so we are very excited to see what Jeff has in store for us! This one features two touring acts, and some surprises. The touring act at the top of the bill is Slow Mass from Chicago. This band features members of bands that have performed at Black Sheep over the years, and you can listen to some of their music on the player below. The other act is a duo called Turtledoves from Cincinnati Ohio, featuring two members that were a part of the band Soil & The Sun, which Jeff had booked at Radon Lounge before. For locals… wow, what is this we have the band Mother Leopard back from the dead from the year 2009. Also from 2009 and even earlier than that is Kirk Donely of the bands The Transatlantic and Sealife?!? (Okay, he currently plays in The Dandelion Pickers).

That all starts tonight at 7:00 pm and it’s $7 admission. You can find a facebook event for the show right here. Also be sure to check out our shows page for a good look at what else is coming up at our space in the near future.
