Happy Halloween and first day of winter all at once!! Nobody told us that it was supposed to blizzard today! Looks like we will be celebrating Halloween tonight and then going sledding directly after. Tonight we do have a full lineup of bands at our space, despite the weather. At the top of the bill is punky punk act Foam Fangers from right here from our city’s very own dumpsters. Ah yes, and we have Holy Pinto! A band featuring at least one member from the United Kingdom. Stream their music on the player below. Also playing is… Blushe! And before that we’ve got the solo project based out of Decatur, Marble Teeth. Spooky! Opening things up is the absolutely terrifying, the completely ghoulish act from here and Peoria, Sadface Killer!
You can find a facebook event for this big Halloween show right here. It starts at 7:00 pm and admission is $8. Check out a facebook event for the show right here. Also be sure to check out our shows page for a look at what’s going on at Dumb Records into the future.
It’s cold outside, and that means it’s going to keep getting colder outside, and now it’s time for us to announce more shows that are going to happen when it’s cold outside. This one is going to happen on Monday, November 25th. It features LIVID from Kenosha, Wisconsin making a return to Springfield and playing at our new space for the first time! We welcome them here again. Arachnid is the other touring band on the bill and they are from Fargo, North Dakota. You can stream some of Arachnid’s music on the player below. Both of these will be joined by locals including hardcore group Final Order. Opening things up is the first ever performance of the dark and mysterious brand new Springfield lack metal project called Gargantuan!!
This show will start at 7:00 pm and admission will cost $5. Check out a facebook event for the show right here. Also be sure to check out our shows page for a good look at what else is coming up this fall / winter at our space.

On Sunday, November 17th – we got a show! There’s a lot going on for this one, including two touring acts. This includes Nightcrawler from the Chicago area – playing some real smooth emo music, with a new hit record coming out on Rat King Records very soon. Stream that new hit single on the player below. The other touring act on the bill is a solo act called “Vera Devorah” from Lincoln, Nebraska. As far as locals go, we’ve got local rock group Star Stuff on the bill. We’ve also got Blushe. Opening up this show is actually a 13 year old singer songwriter we are really happy to welcome to perform at our space! That is Ella Gibson!
All of that starts at 7:00 pm on that day and admission is $7. Check out a facebook event for the show right here. Also be sure to check out our shows page for a good look at what else is coming up at our space in the coming months.
Our new next door neighbor, Good Heart Tattoos, was featured in an article in the local paper, The State Journal-Register yesterday. This was a part of Sunday’s local business notes, and the paper talked with owner Benny DeWitt about the new downtown tattoo shop having a grand opening on Saturday, November 9th. Believe it or not Benny has already opened his doors and started tattooing in a soft-open, Tuesdays through Saturdays from noon until close. Here’s a snippet from the article:
This tradition even extends to the downtown location DeWitt selected, which he hopes conveys a certain image about his business.
“Through the early part of the last century, tattooers that were good wanted to be on Main Street USA,” DeWitt said. “So I feel that Monroe is kind of like Main Street USA and I think that’s a really cool thing to bring downtown.”
DeWitt added that “there’s a lot of creative businesses and a lot of blue collar-style stuff happening” downtown between the mix of breweries, record stores, coffee shops and a hip barbershop, making it an attractive spot for him.
You can find the full article in yesterday’s paper (Sunday), or online right here. In the business notes there is also mention of continuing development on a long-stalled apartment project also down the road from us on Sixth and Monroe Streets. There was also an article yesterday on a “Healthy prep meal service” also heading downtown to Monroe street, out of Custom Cup just down the road from us. Check that article out online right here.
Wow, holy smokes we can hardly believe it! The results are in for the Illinois Times’s annual “Best Of Springfield” polls and we have won the category for Best New Business Downtown!! Thank you too all who voted to get us here! We were also finalists in categories best live music venue (small) and best music store. Congrats to our friends over at The Curve Inn and Recycled Records for taking the big trophy in those categories!
For the results for all of the categories, pick of a copy of The Illinois Times at various locations around town, or check out the results online right here.
What’s this, there is something happening at Rock N’ Roll Hardee’s one week from today… on Saturday November 2nd?? This is “Foamfest” being put together by Foam Fangers… which looks to us like a regular four band show happening at Hardee’s! As you can see we got some pizza, chicken, and burritos on the flier, but we are not sure if all of those things are currently on the Hardee’s menu. To see an official up to date Hardee’s menu, go to the Hardee’s website right here. Who is playing Foamfest?? At the top of the bill of course is Foam Fangers. We also have 90’s-sounding alternative / power pop band The Complaint Line rockin’ it. We also have… The Blood-Soaked Boogie Bandits! What a nice Halloween-themed act. Looks like opening things up is Prevention, who just played here last night!
Foamfest starts at 6:30pm according to the flier, and it’s free. Check out a facebook event for this one right here. Our weather radar tells us it’s going to be a nice high of 48 degrees and low of 31 on that day with clear skies, we’ll keep an on that weather! Find a list of other shows going on around Springfield on our shows page.
