Are you ready to hear about the first show we have going on in October? Hopefully you are, because October is just a couple of weeks around the corner. This show is happening on Monday, October 4th, featuring all acts from the area all performing at our space for the first time. On the top of the bill is “Greenhouse Opera” – the new full band featuring Dexter Anodyne, local musician who we all know and love. Before that is a newer folk duo that has more recently popped up in town called Idle Oath. You can stream their music on the player embedded below. Also is Skyler Duncan… the band… we don’t know too much about but we feel like the same guys that brought us The Studio Show are up to something again. Opening this show up is acoustic solo act Brian Zilm from Carlinville, Illinois.
This one starts at 7:00 pm and admission is $5. Check out a facebook event for the show right here. Also be sure to check out our shows page for a complete list of what we’ve got coming up at our space in the near future.
Today we bring you a stream of a brand new album by Springfield recording project “Forest Saints.” The album is called The Book Of Descents & Ascensions and you can find it streaming on the player below. Yes, this one is a whopping 19 tracks and a just under 60 minutes of “1970’s inspired keyboard-driven prog.” Also head on over to the Forest Saints bandcamp page to purchase the download of the album and support the artist. Also on the Forest Saints page you can check out the many other albums the project has released over the years.
We are adding this one to our Springfield album archive page, bringing us to 42 releases featured on our site total so far this year. Mark Schwartz of Forest Saints also regularly puts out music under a few other project names including Tin Ghost and Demons On Wheels.
This is a post to let you all know that we will be participating in the record fair out at Route 66 Hotel this upcoming Saturday, September 21st. It’s been a couple of years since we’ve done a pop up at one of these, usually bi-annual events, but this time we are returning with just one table full of records, and maybe some fliers and a special coupon to hand out to people or something. We’ll see. We also just want to hang out and look at records and drink coffee.
The record fair goes on Saturday at the Route 66 Hotel on 625 East St. Joseph from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Yes, as the flier states above it is also occurring in Peoria the following day, but we are just participating in the Springfield record fair. Heck, maybe we’ll do the Peoria one again next year. Find a facebook event for this right here. Our store will still be open regular hours downtown all day Saturday.
