Lick Creek: “Too Damn Country”

Local legendary country rock band Lick Creek have released their first (?) full length album of original music, and what do you know, we have many copies for sale in our record store (pictured above). We are working on getting that local music section back up and running! The new album is called Too Damn Country and cover art is designed by our very own Dumb Records volunteer of the month Brian Galecki. You can stream one of those songs on the youtube player below, or head over here to stream all of the songs on Youtube. Also head over to the Lick Creek website where you can find links to download the album.

Lick Creek have a lot of shows lined up in the area (none at our spot, but you can view them all here). You better believe we are adding this one to our Springfield album archive under releases that have came out this year! Yeehaw!

Tonight at Bread Sheep: Activator One Year Anniversary Show: MAC, Snuff Rider, Uncanny, HECK, DJ Jess & Milk

Happy birthday Activator Magazine! Well, maybe not this exact day, but one year ago in June of 2018 was the first issue of Activator that came out – a free local monthly magazine that has been doing an amazing job at covering what’s going on in Central Illinois DIY music and culture for the past year. Tonight we are celebrating one year of Activator with a show happening next to us at Bread Sheep. The lineup for this show features punk rockers MAC at the top of the bill – who will be performing here in Springfield for the first time actually! Nice! By the way look at that great flier by Carol Weems of Activator Magazine, great job Carol. Who’s next on the lineup? HECK?!? The solo project of Hannah Songer out of Bloomington. Also a brand new Springfield band called SNUFF RIDER will be playing their first show?? Featuring members of Imaginary Colours and Evan Mitchell’s one man band! Before that… a very rare rap performance by Aaron “Uncanny” Phillips!! Wow!! In all of our years working with Aaron hosting hip hop shows at our spaces we have never had him listed as a performer! Then opening things up or playing somewhere on the bill is some sort of karaoke set by DJ Milk and DJ Jess!!! We can not believe all of the wild and cool things going on for this show!

This show will start at 7:00 pm and admission is $5. All proceeds will be split between our show space and Activator Magazine. There will also be cake and “free sh*t”! Wow! Check out a facebook event for this one right here. Also be sure to check out our shows page for a good look at what else is coming up at our space in the new future!
