We have another slammer of a show to tell you about happening at Bread Sheep Records on Saturday, July 6th. It’s a slammer, but it’s a pretty nice and diverse bill as well. We have the mighty return of the mighty might band Jocko from Ohmaha, Nebraska. Jocko played here last at Black Sheep the first night of Dumb Fest 6 for those of you who were around for that… exactly one year ago! Stream some of Jocko’s music on the player below if you are unfamiliar. Also on this show is today’s featured band: Final Order. Right in the middle we have a curveball and that is local hip hop act Animals With Human Names, playing his first show at Bread Stretchers 2.0. Then we’ve got St. Louis area hardcore group Brute Force coming back to play the Bread Stretch for yet another time. Opening things up is another little curveball with the *chill* solo project of Vincent Sebastian.
All of this starts at 7:00 pm that day and it’s $7 to get in to see five acts. Check out a facebook event for this one right here. Also be sure to check out our shows page for a good look at what else we’ve got coming up at Beard Strappers in the near future.
Today we bring you some hot brand new Springfield music in the form of this collaborative hip hop release by two long time local rappers: Deezy Da Paperboy and Cornbread. Both of them had performed the first hip hop show at our space a couple of weekends ago. Both artists worked together to create a new mixtape called Kush & Kollabs – five brand new tracks which you can find streaming on the player below. Also head over to youtube and stream it here.
There was also an interview and writeup about the release in this month’s Activator Magazine, conducted by Ken No of Hip Hop Hump Day. From the interview:
The concept is that when you listen to the album, it only has five tracks, that represents our “Five On It” like that old Luniz track, plain and simple. We want it so when you put on the first track, I want listeners to be breaking it down to roll it up or pack it, or you already got it ready to go. I’m talking about marijuana. Weed’s gonna be legal recreationally soon so I don’t feel like I’m doing too much. So we’re taking them through this journey, and when we partake, we like to throw on some music.
For the full interview / writeup, pick up a free copy of Activator at Dumb Records today. You bet that this release is yet another one getting added to our Springfield album archive – now well over 400 archived releases from over the years.
Gooood Monday Morning Springfield. We are kicking off another week right by bringing you another band page on our site and another featured band of the week. Would you believe it but we had not gotten one together for Final Order yet – a band that played their first show at Black Sheep back in August of last year (that means they’ve almost been around a full year)! Check that out right here. We have been told that recordings for this band are going to be released very very soon. They are actually playing the very next show at Bread Sheep coming up this Saturday, and then another one here as well on July 6th!
This puts us at a total of 40 current band pages on our site, all of which you can check out right here – we know we still have a lot to do with getting these updated however and catching up with all of the new projects that have been forming in town! If you are a local original musician or play in a band that has not gotten a page set up with us yet, shoot us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org and we will work with you to get something set up!
