Our List of Expected Record Store Day Releases

See that photo up there? That’s what it’s going to look like inside of our store on Saturday, April 13th for Record Store Day in just a little over two weeks with all of those people and all of those records. Tonight we are coming at you with another long list of records – these are the ones we anticipate getting for Record Store Day in a couple of weeks. As a disclaimer – none of these records are actually guaranteed – every year we put in our orders and there are always a number of items that we ordered but we do not get in due to very limited pressings. For any given release usually this is not the case, we should be getting the majority of this list. Also as another disclaimer we are not allowed or able to put holds on any of these items for any customers – they are all first come first serve.

We open at 8:00 am on Record Store Day (you are welcome to come out early to wait in line)! There will hopefully be live music of some sort later that evening at our new space. Check out a facebook event right here.

Find the mega-huge list of things we ordered below. Of course this list is by far bigger than any other Record Store Day we have ever participated in. For more details on each one of these releases, you can check out the Record Store Day website. We are ordering a limited amount of each of these items – most of them one or two copies.

Buzz Bomb Brewery Presents “Buzz Fest” On March 30th Downtown

Screen Shot 2019-03-21 at 12.19.43 PM.png

Here’s a photo taken directly from our Dumb Records bulletin board which is filling up fast with events coming up (most of them happening downtown)! This one looks like the first big downtown outdoor music event of the season here – it’s “Buzz Fest” put on by Buzz Bomb Brewery on Saturday, March 30th in celebration of the bar and brewery turning one year old at their downtown location just a hop and a skip over from us on Adams Street. Hopefully the weather is going to be warm enough for an outdoor event there in a little over one week (it seems to be warming up now)! There are a lineup of bands for Buzz Fest – including the return of “The Goddamn Gallows” to Springfield – the punk rock “gutterbilly” band from the west coast who has played here last at Bar None this past summer. This time around The Goddamn Gallows is on tour with Scott H. Biram from Texas. You can check out some of Scott’s music on the player below. And even more – “Urban Pioneers” are also performing also from Texas (also on tour?). Local openers include the rowdy Foam Fangers and also Kate Laine.

According to the event online, Buzz Fest begins at noon and goes all the way until 1:00 am. (We are not exactly sure what time in there bands go on outside). Find a facebook event right here. Tickets are $10-15 and can be found here. We think the outdoor performances would be all ages (?). Also check out our Springfield shows page where we are trying to come up with a list of all Springfield shows coming up outside of the new Dumb Records (soon).

Photos: Downtown St. Patrick’s Day Parade 2019

Hey! We almost forgot to mention how great the St. Patrick’s Day Parade downtown was this past weekend! We’ve never seen so many people in Springfield in one spot before, and that parade sure was a long one! We had a great time taking our giant green elephant pulled by Miles T Shirts, also walking with our friends from The Radon Lounge, Springfield Vintage, and of course The Chili Bowl Mullet Man himself. Wow! We even heard a rumor that we won third place prize for best float or something like that?? Not sure if there is any confirmation of that out there.

Check out a few photos above and below, or also on our flickr page for a full album of 20-something pictures.

Record Store Day at Dumb Records Saturday, April 13th

We can’t get over with how crazy busy we are going to be with our new store now that we are downtown this spring and summer – and we haven’t even started with shows yet! We just got done with a grand opening and a big parade, and now in less than a month we are looking at the biggest day of the year for our store – Record Store Day! Taking place this year on Saturday, April 13th. You are going to mark your calendars for this one. We’ll admit that we went overboard and put in the biggest Record Store Day order we have ever done. There are nearly 400 exclusive titles being released just for this day, and we probably ordered two thirds of those titles (some multiple copies of). Check out the long list of exclusive releases on the Record Store Day site right here. Here is Pitchfork’s inside scoop on some notable releases this year. We’ll be posting our list of what we are expecting to get at some point soon. As usual, we can not do holds on exclusive releases for anybody.

We are opening our doors right at 8:00 am for this big big day. Feel free to stand outside in line. We’ll also have coffee available from Foamed Up (usually located at the mall), and probably donuts of some sort. We’ll be open late that night – also are planning on a show happening in our new space at 7:00 pm (which we can not tell you about because we are still waiting on the city’s approval! #$&%@!). Check out a facebook event for all of this right here.

This day is also about supporting your local record store! We are excited to be downtown during Record Store Day this year because it will be more of an event between all three of the stores here downtown! Check out Recycled Records (also participating, opening up at 8:00am, and The Elf Shelf (open 10am-3pm).
