Videos: The Shadows of Knight: “Gloria” and “Shake” at Black Sheep 10-20-18

This may be pretty old news at this point, but we just now got around to uploading videos taken back in October of legendary 1960’s garage rock group The Shadows of Knight performing some songs at Black Sheep late last year. These songs include their 1965 chart-breaking hit rendition of the song “Gloria”, and also another one “Shake” that got up there on the charts. The mayor was there. “G-L-O-R-I-A”! Find those videos embedded below:

Also check out our videos/pictures page for more videos taken over the years at Black Sheep, which is no more. Hopefully we’ll be making memories in the new space soon!

Updates: Springfield Shows Page

Screen Shot 2019-01-20 at 2.31.33 PM.png

Hi, we’d just though we would stop by this afternoon and say “hi”, also we know that a lot of you out there are thirsty for live music shows. Well, our space still isn’t quite ready for those (still waiting on a door to get replaced and a few other people to sign off on stuff), however there are still plenty of shows going on coming up around town in spaces that aren’t the new Dumb Records. This includes houses “The CFP”, The Radon Lounge, also Bar None right across the street from us, HISO Music, Free Press Coffee, and more. We updated our Springfield Shows Page which has upcoming shows listed around town the best we are able to for now. If we are forgetting anything let us know!

The Springfield Shows Page can always be accessed by hovering over the “Shows” tab right up there in our menu bar. The Dumb Records show page will be up and rolling as soon as we are approved to have shows in the new space.

Dumb Records’ “Record of the Night” Receives Best of 2018 Downtown Springfield Nomination

Wow! We weren’t even downtown yet in 2018, but we are extremely grateful to be receiving a big nomination in the Downtown Springfield Best of 2018 awards! The nomination is under the category of “Best Creative Promotion” and more specifically goes to our Record of the Night series, which has been on-going for the past six years, but we have managed to keep up with the tradition every single day of 2019 as we have been moving and settling into our new home downtown.

Other nominees in the category include the “Adams Family” – the group of businesses one block over from us on Adams Street, and also Obed & Isaac’s Wine Bus Tour.

The Downtown Springfield Awards Ceremony where winners of the categories will be announced is this Wednesday night. Keep up with all of our Record of the Night ridiculousness right here.

Today on Dumb Records Radio: Ken No

Did you know that our Friday 4-6pm radio show on 88.3 WQNA FM is still a thing? Of course it is! We may have changed the name to “The Dumb Records Radio Show” or “The Dumb Records Radio Hour” or… “Dumb Radio”, we aren’t quite sure yet. Today we are having a special episode focusing on local hip hop featuring Ken No who hosts Hip Hop Hump Day on 88.3 from 11:00 pm to 2:00 am late Wednesday nights. Ken picked out a few records at our new shop that we’ll be playing as well as plenty of local hip hop and we’ll be talking about plenty of things.

You can tune in today and every Friday from 4:00 to 6:00 pm on 88.3 WQNA fm or online that same time at We are working on updating our radio show page with downloadable episodes of the past.
