June 24th at Black Sheep: Dogs On Shady Lane, The Telephone Junkies, Johnnycatland, Mike Butler

This will be the third show in our streak of shows coming up this weekend, happening this upcoming Sunday, June 24th. It’s another one being put together by The Telephone Junkies, who just performed this past Monday, for some touring acts out of town. (Yes, The Telephone Junkies will be playing this show as well). This one is for Providence, Rhode Island indie-rock group “Dogs on Shady Lane“. You can stream some of their music on the player below. The other out of town act is a group called “Johnnycatland” from Oak Park, Illinois up north, also described as indie-rock. Opening things up is local solo musician Mike Butler, formerly of the band Vonne.

This show starts on Sunday at 7:00 pm. Admission is $5. You can find a facebook event for the show right here. Also be sure to check out our shows page – which is actually really updated this time!

June 23rd at Black Sheep: Vinny, ~YT~, M-22, Jordan McCance, Animals With Human Names

We have something a little bit different coming up at Black Sheep this Saturday, June 23rd. We are handing over the reigns to M22TV and HISO Music for a night (yes, it says “Fest” on the flier but oh no we can not handle another full on fest right now)!!! This will be a hip hop show of sorts featuring what looks like five different artists. At the top of the bill we have “VINNY“, ~YT~, and M-22 all of which we are unable to find anything about online, and all of which are new to the Black Sheep stage! You can find a snippet of music and a new album teaser for M-22 on facebook right here. Come out to this show for a chance to hear the album in full. There’s also an artist from Farmington, Illinois – Jordan Chance. Also there is one full band that has been described to us as indie-rock, they are called Topical! and are from Macomb, Illinois. From our understanding opening things up is an artist familiar to the Black Sheep stage – Animals With Human Names (even though he is not listed on the flier).

This show kicks off at 7:00 pm on Saturday, admission is $5. Find a facebook event for the show right here. Also be sure to check out our shows page for a look at what else is coming up at Black Sheep this summer.

June 22nd at Black Sheep: Bottom Bracket (Tour Kickoff), Reaver, Stick People, Heck, Oversleeping

We have a full lineup of shows this upcoming weekend and we are now ready to start telling you all about them! That starts with a show coming up this Friday – on Friday, June 22nd (in just two days). This one is going to be the official tour kickoff for Springfield group Bottom Bracket, who are hitting the road hard and going all the way to the east coast at the end of this month / beginning of July. We’ll come back to you with B.B.’s big tour dates in another post. This show features plenty of friends of the band- including the Alton, Illinois band Reaver. Stream some of Reaver’s newest music on the player embedded below. We also have the Taylorville alternative rock band we have not seen in a minute on the bill – Stick People. How nice! At the beginning of the lineup we have Oversleeping from the St. Louis area. And also a solo performance by Hannah Songer as “HECK“.

All of that starts this Friday at 7:00 pm. Admission for this show is $6. Find a facebook event for this one right here. Also be sure to check out our shows page for a look at what else is coming up at Black Sheep this summer.

Tonight at Black Sheep: Lume, P.I.N.T., Reverend, Glower, Staghorn

Surprise! There is another show happening at Black Sheep tonight! What do you know but somehow it looks like we are in the middle of a 5 shows in 7 days streak. (We are getting our shows page updated ASAP so you can see what the rest of those shows are). Tonight we have the return of Chicago emo band Lume. If you do not know what they are about, check out their music on the player below. Aside from Lume, the lineup tonight is very stacked. Springfield solo ambient project Pretend I’m Not There also performs for the first time since a special release show at The Dana Thomas House. Another touring act – “Reverend” from Detroit, Michigan is on the bill. Before that is Staghorn, who is now based out of Champaign. Opening things up is Glower from right here in Springfield.

All of that tonight starts promptly at 7:00 pm at Black Sheep, and admission is $7. Check out a facebook event for the show right here. Also be sure to check out our shows page for a good look at what else is coming up at Black Sheep this summer.

Tonight at Black Sheep: Goodland, The Telephone Junkies, Sadface Killer, Prevalence

Oh! There is a show tonight and it’s taken us by surprise. It’s a nice well rounded lineup too. We have the band “Goodland” from Stevens Point, Wisconsin coming to perform for us all. Stream some of their music on the player below. Aside from the band Goodland we also have local heroes- The Telephone Junkies. The Telephone Junkies played Dumb Fest and were interviewed by the State Journal-Register beforehand. Our Peoria friends in Sadface Killer are also performing tonight. Then kicking things off is the alternative rock band Prevalence from Champaign, Illinois.

This all kicks off at 7:00 pm tonight, and admission is $5. Check out a facebook event for the show right here. Also be sure to check out our shows page for a good look at what else is coming up at Black Sheep (we are working on it).

Tomorrow Night at Black Sheep: “Beat Bosses Battle of the Beats”

Our next rap / hip hop show is happening as soon as tomorrow night! It’s another rap battle being called “Beat Bosses” Battle of the Beats” put on by Boss Tharrio. Any performers lined up at this point are unknown, but there is a grand prize of $200 and more.

Doors for the battle tomorrow open at 8:00 pm, things start at 9:00 pm. Admission is $5. There is no facebook event that we know of.
